Inside the £1.5m 'greenhouse' home with six bedrooms and a secret
A unique six-bedroom home resembling a giant greenhouse is on sale for £1.5m. It has been specially designed for energy efficiency throughout. The property - called Garden House - is fitted with solar panels and double-glazed, argon-filled, K-glass windows to improve thermal performance. It also includes period features dating back to the 1790s. The glass-fronted house is in a walled garden in the hamlet of Westhorpe, near Newark-on-Trent, Notts. It is described as the ultimate family home, set in half an acre of land and within walking distance of highly acclaimed Minster School, as reported by Luxury Property News. Its listing states: "Tucked away behind the walled kitchen garden, The Garden House sits perfectly in harmony with its surroundings. "It was completed in 2000 of reinforced concrete, steel beams and solid oak construction. Parking for three is available within the large carport, with further space for an additional car within the garage, and additional space for vehicles in the cobbled parking area." The property boasts an "inviting entrance hall", with its high ceilings and soft light that sets the tone for a residence rich in character and grace. The underfloor heating on the lower ground floor "adds a touch of luxurious comfort", according to the property listing. It adds: "Spacious and accessible, a shower room on the right features a wash basin, heated towel radiator and WC, whilst plenty of storage can be found for coats and boots in the built-in cupboard. Impressively crafted, solid oak, open tread stairs lead upward from the entrance hall, arriving at a light-filled landing, which itself opens to a spacious and versatile hobby room above the garage, with high vaulted ceiling and deep eaves storage. "A wonderful space for teenagers, partitioned into separate rooms, there is ample scope to create an area for self-contained living here. Retracing your steps, return to the main entrance, and step through into the capacious open-plan kitchen-dining-family room; the heart of the home, uniquely zoned to feature a dining area and snug with views out over the glorious gardens. "Oak flooring flows underfoot, whilst the granite edge of the sociable breakfast bar curves round, inviting conviviality. The pitched ceiling above adds an airy lightness to the space, amplifying laughter and adding to the ambience. "An array of appliances are included, with an impressively sized oven, undermounted sinks, dishwasher and fridge freezer, whilst storage is abundant, in the many solid wood cupboards and drawers, handcrafted by a local joiner. Moving around the kitchen, the cleverly arranged cabinetry transforms itself into steps, leading up to a large Velux window which opens to a hidden roof terrace; a sunny secret garden offering views out over the walled garden to the open countryside beyond Westhorpe. "Returning to the kitchen, plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in the quarry tiled utility room, a substantial space offering access out to the carport. From the kitchen, make your way through into the main lounge. "Lavishly sized and brimming with light, French doors open to a balcony within the garden room from where you can sip on a refreshing drink whilst taking in the sights and scents of the abundant indoor planting. Another set of French doors opens at the pond, where stepping stones guide you whimsically out into the garden. "Spacious, cosy and authentic, a log burner emanates toasty warmth from within its brick-built surround, percolating throughout the room. Built to enjoy the sublime garden surrounds, the bedrooms at The Garden House can be found downstairs. "Directly outside the house, the original Georgian garden wall, dating back to 1790, encloses a kitchen garden. Neat vegetable plots and flower beds feature throughout the grounds." Blending cutting-edge design and architectural elegance with characterful charm, this unique home offers an intimate connection to its stunning natural surroundings. Whether you're hosting festive gatherings, enjoying peaceful moments in the gardens, or relaxing with the family, The Garden House is a home with the ability to adapt effortlessly to your family's needs. The property is available to view and purchase through Smith & Co Estates. The agents are accepting offers over £1,500,000 with enquiries being taken online here alongside more details and a detailed video-led tour.

Terraced house goes on the market for just £1,000 but there's a VERY big catch
One lucky buyer could be in with the chance of snapping up a terraced house for as little as £1,000. But the shockingly low starting price for the property in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, comes with a major catch. Photos show that behind the boarded up door there is practically nothing there. The inside has been left exposed to the elements with crumbling bricks and a hole where the window should be. Debris has also been left on the ground and there are currently no walls or floors. The property, which has been put up for auction, has been described as a 'shell' on its listing. One home hunter joked: 'The only house I could ever afford.' Another person said: 'Plot of land for a grand is not bad.' A third added: 'Could make a sick spot.' Someone else quipped: 'As someone who is from Sheffield, you'd have to pay me to live around here.' Another person said: 'If the one grand includes permission from council and neighbours to demolish, build and renovate, it's a considerable one. 'Without permissions, £100 is more than the potential.' A sixth person added: 'People talking about the area. 'Even if it cost £30,000 done up, you could get £500 a month rent. 'Where else are you going to get that return?' Someone else joked: 'Very spacious and the natural light really accentuates the features.' The property in Sheffield is being put up for auction by Auction House, Luxury Property News has reported. It is also on Rightmove. The listing states: 'This property is in shell condition but provides an excellent opportunity with a range of development potentials, subject to relevant planning. 'Hinde Street is conveniently located in Sheffield a stones throw from Meadowhall, Northern General Hospital, various retail parks, and great transport links including easy access to M1.'

Dilapidated 500-year-old cottage which once appeared in iconic 90s music video hits market – do you recognise it?
A DILAPIDATED 500-year-old cottage which once appeared in an iconic 90s music video has gone on sale. The 1.5-acre Silk Mill could be yours for £75,000 - and it once featured in a smash hit by a famous singer. 6 6 6 Bryan Adams' (Everything I Do) I Do It For You topped the charts for a record 16 weeks in 1991 and was the theme for the blockbuster film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Adams was featured performing next to Silk Mill in the track's music video, which was directed by Julien Temple. Now the mill, built 500 years ago near the village of Holford, Somerset, is on the market for £75,000. The 1.5-acre site includes areas of mature woodland, the fast-flowing Holford River, and the atmospheric remains of the former Holford Silk Mills, as reported by Luxury Property News. The spot is so special that Sir Paul McCartney even bought the surrounding woodland and later donated it to the League Against Cruel Sports as a wildlife sanctuary. Estate agent Ross Walls said: "Not many properties have such a back story. He added: "It's a great lifestyle or conservation opportunity. "I had an inquiry from a woman who loves Bryan Adams and was interested in leaving a property that means something to her to her children. "I've tried to contact Bryan Adams too, but so far without success." In the late 1790s, the poet William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy spent time living at nearby Alfoxton Park and frequently walked in Holford Glen. Soap stars' secret music careers revealed from EastEnders actress's 80s pop single to Corrie legend's TOTP appearance The waterfall along the river, just a short distance from the property, was one of their favourite places and is immortalised in Wordsworth's poem Lines Written in Early Spring. Mr Walls added: "It's an incredible place, truly magical." In the music video, you can see the ruin directly behind where Bryan Adams was singing. Founded by Huguenot refugees - protestants who fled France and southern Belgium from the 16th to the 18th century - the Holford Silk Mills once buzzed with industry, powered by the Holford River. But the mill fell into disrepair in 1860 after two fires destroyed it. Mr Walls said the property would not be suitable for someone trying to turn it into a home, but would be ideal for someone who wants to park up, go for a wander and escape. Adams, 62, is a Canadian guitarist, singer, composer, record producer, photographer, and philanthropist. Throughout the course of his career, he has sold over 100 million records worldwide and is responsible for the hit songs Summer of '69, Run to You, and Heaven. He is also known as one of the world's best-selling musicians and is reportedly the best-selling Canadian rock artist of all time. 6 6 6
