"Singer 2025" slammed for Joyce Cheng's injury
30 Jun - The team of "Singer 2025" found themselves drawing the ire of Joyce Cheng's fans after an incident left the singer unable to make her stage comeback.
The Hong Kong singer and daughter of the late Lydia Shum was originally scheduled to make her comeback on the reality singing competition after two years of hiatus. However, two hours before the show, the programme announced that Joyce has decided to withdraw due to a previous injury.
It was revealed that the singer was accidentally injured during the filming of the promotional clip for the show due to improper handling of the lighting equipment by the staff. Although she originally stated that she would continue to perform if her physical condition permits it, Joyce was unable to do so as the pain on her shoulders, neck and ears had yet to subside.
In response to the announcement, netizens angrily slammed the show for not being extra careful.
One netizen wrote, "You really are a shoddy team, aren't you?" while another posted, "This is too much. Do you think it's easy for people to come to your show?"
Meanwhile, upon the news that Joyce might return for a second round of the competition if her condition gets better, netizens responded, "Don't do it. There will be no next session. There are safety issues."
Another posted, "What singer would dare come to your show next time?"
