THE LIBRARIANS: THE NEXT CHAPTER Recap: (S01E08) And the Hangover From Hell

Even the best teams run into challenges when the outside world pushes in with 'real life' demands and relationships. For The Librarians: The Next Chapter , they've been living on borrowed time. Since Vikram (Callum McGowan) burst onto the scene from his time bubble and unleashed the magic well on the world, they've been scrambling to retrieve and contain artifacts and deities. For Lysa (Olivia Morris) and Connor (Bluey Robinson), this means they've put their lives on hold. RELATED: Catch up with our recap of the previous episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter , 'And the Con-Con' In the previous episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter , we learned about the life and community Connor left behind to join the Library. Lysa's life before the Annex included launching an IPO for her company. Her goal to develop multi-dimensional predictive algorithms with quantum computing has been treading water while she's been cavorting with Cupid and getting her clothes eaten by a demon moth. Image Credit: Aleksandar Letic In 'And the Hangover From Hell,' we meet her best friend, Suki (Daniela Norman), when she flies in for an impromptu bachelorette party. Things go awry, and they wake up the next morning, sporting various injuries and with no idea what happened. Each of them recounts what they can remember. What elevates this simple perspective exercise from solid to sublime is the narrative use of various genres to actualize the memories. So. Much. Fun. At the same time, a sneaky long-arc plot thread weaves its way through the background. Wow, do I ever love this episode. The Librarians: The Next Chapter, 'And the Hangover From Hell' A woman's laugh rings out and echoes through a house's large empty foyer. Vikram stumbles out of an upstairs doorway. He shakes his head to clear it and slowly makes his way down the corridor. The woman's voice states, 'There's nothing you can do!' and laughs again, just as Charlie (Jessica Green), Connor, and Lysa appear out of nowhere and tumble down the stairs. Vikram rushes to the railing. He turns and his eyes widen as the woman tells him, 'You're too late, Librarian,' and a burst of magical force shoves him through the railing and to the foyer floor below. RELATED: TV Review: The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Vikram revives first. Holding his head in pain, he crawls to Charlie's body. She wakes up and realizes her shoulder is dislocated. A distance away, Connor and Lysa sit up. Connor can't remember anything and says he feels like a truck ran him over. Charlie points out that he has an icicle sticking out of his leg. Vikram ties a makeshift tourniquet around Connor's thigh. Everyone finds a seat on the couches. Lysa reminds them that they were at her best friend Suki's bachelorette party. No one remembers this. The Night Before Wavy wipe to a flashback. The team prepares a chateau that Lysa rented for her friend's bachelorette party. Because all of Suki's friends' flights got canceled, they will also be Suki's backup guests. Lysa is practically giddy with excitement. When Suki arrives, she and Lysa greet each other with squeals and a secret handshake. Suki wonders why they aren't staying at Lysa's castle. Lysa tells her they have the whole chateau to themselves, and her friends will stand in for Suki's missing guests. Suki comments that since Lysa has told her nothing about them, she'll have the whole evening to get to know them. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Image Credit: Aleksandar Letic Back in the foyer, Lysa insists the party went well until the ice sculpture shattered. Lysa says her memory's a blank after that until she fell down the stairs. RELATED: Olivia Morris Shares How The Librarians: The Next Chapter Hooked Her From Page One Vikram interjects, stating that despite his memory being far superior to theirs, he cannot remember what happened either. Charlie remembers him drinking too many cocktails at the party. He insists he does not black out from drinking. It must have been a spell. Lysa suddenly realizes Suki's not there. She runs up the stairs to the double doors to rescue her friend. Vikram follows and points out that they need to know what they're facing before rushing into the room with whatever tried to kill them. Charlie's Version Regrouping, Vikram invites them to tell him what they can remember. Charlie starts. Flashback: Everyone's in the photo booth, and everything's in black and white. The music is classic film noir jazz. When she takes Suki's luggage up to her room, Charlie overhears Suki on the phone saying she'll need to convince Lysa to sell the castle. She goes to find Lysa and discovers the band setting up for the night. It's Gregor's Hammer (last seen on the season premiere, 'And the Deadly Drekavac'). The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Image Credit: Courtesy of TNT Suki arrives and berates the party planner, Viola (Emma Gojkovic), for not hiring a DJ like she asked. In the next room, Connor and one of the band members teach Vikram about cocktails like Fuzzy Navels. Charlie comes in and tells Vikram and Connor what she overheard. She's intent on catching Suki in a lie. RELATED: On Location: The Belgrade Fortress on The Librarians: The Next Chapter Lysa tries to convince Suki to give her friends a chance. With Charlie listening in, Suki badmouths them all. Back in the party room, the band with Vikram on vocals is definitely not to Suki's taste. When the bartender slips and triggers the confetti shower that wasn't supposed to happen until midnight, Suki flips her lid. Connor and Charlie try to reason with her. Suki calls them all losers and walks away. Suki's Lie Charlie checks the flight information for Belgrade. All flights arrived on time. To get close enough to figure out Suki's motive, Charlie brings a round of shots over as a peace offering. She takes a photo of Lysa and Suki, then sneaks off with Suki's phone, making the excuse she's going to get cocktails. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Image Credit: Courtesy of TNT Charlie goes through Suki's phone and discovers that Suki didn't invite anyone except Lysa to her bachelorette party. Finding a listing for the castle, she concludes that Suki's trying to make Lysa sell the castle to her. Charlie pulls Suki away from yelling at the band to talk in the photo booth. After booting Viola out, Charlie confronts Suki about her lies. Suki accuses Charlie of changing Lysa and taking her away from her home, job, and friend (singular). Leaving the booth, Charlie turns as she's walking away, declaring Suki to be a liar. She slips, and the ice sculpture crashes to the ground. Connor's Version In the foyer, Connor states that he knocked over the ice sculpture, not Charlie. He says he knocked it over because he was rushing to tell Lysa that Suki was using a magical artifact. When Vikram asks where the artifact is now, Connor realizes it fell when he knocked over the sculpture. He wants to tell his story. RELATED: Dean Devlin Dishes on The Librarians: The Next Chapter 's Magical Homecoming Flashback: He's dressed in a tuxedo in the photo booth, and James Bond-esque music plays in the background. Suki flirts with him. Connor notices her engagement ring. Everyone else crowds into the photo booth. Suki tells Lysa she needs to put the ring somewhere safe. In the foyer, Vikram welcomes Gregor's Hammer and comments that Winslow (Aleksa Samardžić) looks different. Winslow, wearing a pair of round spectacles, has nothing to say. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Image Credit: Aleksandar Letic At the bar, Vikram's sucking back a mega-sized Long Island Iced Tea, while Charlie asks why Suki thinks she can buy the castle. Connor watches Suki order Lysa to do a choreographed dance and concludes that Lysa is under the control of mind magic. After the confetti incident, he brainstorms with Vikram and realizes Suki's ring must be the magical artifact. He steals the ring from the safe and runs to the party room to tell Lysa. Tripping on the rug, he knocks over the ice sculpture and drops the ring. RELATED: 5 Great Books About Libraries and Librarians Lysa's Version In the foyer, Lysa refutes Connor's story as she was the one who knocked over the ice sculpture. It happened just as she was going to tell them she had decided to leave the Library. Connor and Charlie immediately accuse Suki of manipulating Lysa into this decision. Vikram stands up and calls for quiet. He invites Lysa to tell her story. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Image Credit: Courtesy of TNT Flashback to the group picture in the photo booth. Lysa says Vikram was the only one trying to have a good time. When she and Suki run through their dance together, Suki sees the others hanging out together by the bar. Lysa tells Viola to have the others start participating. Alone with Suki, she reassures her friend that the team just needs time to warm up. RELATED: TV Review: Leverage: Redemption Season 3 When the confetti incident occurs, Suki tries to blow it off as not a big deal, but Lysa can see that she's upset. Suki tells her that things have been hard at home without Lysa there. When Charlie takes Suki's phone to go get cocktails, Suki takes Lysa to her room, where she shows her the 'Best Friends Forever' dual necklace they wore when they were younger. She asks Lysa if she'll be coming home soon, pointing out she spent her whole life trying to get the company up and running, only to leave it (and Suki) behind for this new job. Lysa agrees that it's time she came home. The Truth About Suki In the foyer, Lysa tells them that she's Suki's only friend, which is why she was the only person on the guest list. Suki's ring isn't anything special, just a cheap, cracked ring. And Suki can't afford to buy the castle. She wants to sell it on Lysa's behalf because her real estate business is failing. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Image Credit: Courtesy of TNT She says when she went back to the party room to tell the team about her decision, she slipped on the confetti on the ground and broke the ice sculpture. Vikram points out that they couldn't have all knocked the sculpture over. He pulls another in a long series of cocktail umbrellas out of his clothes and tosses it to Lysa. She smells valerian root on it. It's a sleeping drug that Suki takes. When Connor accuses Suki of drugging Vikram, Vikram recalls that it was Viola, not Suki, who gave him his last cocktail. This solves the puzzle. Vikram realizes they are dealing with an Ice Vila, an entity that feeds on hatred. They corrupt their target and consume their soul through self-loathing. As Viola, she caused the incidents that ruined the evening and fed the team's dislike of Suki until it became hatred. RELATED: Read our Leverage: Redemption recaps Flashback: After Vikram falls asleep from the drugged drink, Viola walks out to the party room where Charlie and Connor meet up with Lysa, accusing Suki of lying and using magic. Lysa refuses to believe them. Suki's been her BFF since they were fifteen. Lysa's arguing with Connor and Charlie. She says if she has to choose between Suki and the Library, she'll always choose Suki. When no one at school showed up for her birthday party, Suki came. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Image Credit: Courtesy of TNT The Truth Just as Lysa's about to storm out, Viola plays a projection of a video of Charlie confronting Suki in the photo booth. It continues past Charlie's retelling and reveals that Suki sabotaged Lysa's friendships in school. Lysa turns against Suki, and Suki admits she's been a terrible friend and is a bad person. This completes Viola's spell. The ice sculpture glows, and Viola transforms into her Vila persona. She shatters the ice sculpture, claiming Suki's soul for herself. The ring disintegrates into a white gas and freezes Suki's feet to the ground. Vikram stumbles out of the bar into the corridor. This brings us to the opening scenes of the episode. Family By Choice The team confronts Viola. Suki's nearly completely frozen by the spell. Lysa offers herself in Suki's place. Despite the lies, Suki was her only family when her parents died. Viola agrees to the exchange. Vikram then offers himself as well, pointing out that Lysa is his family by choice, just as Suki is hers. Charlie and Conner both step up, and Suki offers herself for Connor, completing the circle and protecting everyone. RELATED: Read our recaps of The Librarians: The Next Chapter With no one's soul to take, Viola's spell turns on her. She freezes, then shatters, trapped back in the ring. Suki and Lysa reconcile, with Suki agreeing that her team members are good people. Suki leaves, and the others start cleaning up from the party. The doorbell chimes. Vikram goes to answer it. Connor and Charlie apologize to Lysa for targeting Suki. They agree that they'll need a plan for the future since the six months Jacob Stone (Christian Kane) gave them are nearly up. Vikram returns with Winslow from the band, who left his glasses behind. He grabs them. Vikram realizes that's what looked different about him. They bid farewell. At home, Winslow pops a lens from the glasses out and sets it back in the scrying glass handle. Holding it up to the picture of General Gregor (Adnan Haskovic), it brings Gregor to life so Winslow can converse with him. By watching everything through the scrying glass lens, Gregor learned everything he needs to strike back at Vikram. Gregor asks Winslow if he's ready to help him crossover from the time prison to the real world. Winslow considers it 'metal.' The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Season 1 Episode 5 Recap & Review

And the Memory Crystal Episode 5 of The Librarians: Next Chapter begins with Vikram and Lysa discussing science and the marvels of what its done for our world. Lysa also brings up an astrophysicist called Roslyn Kirch, and suggests they go and check out her work. Her papers on superclusters of stats (called Quasars) is well-known and she's a big name in the community. The pair show up to see Rosyln during her big speech… but there's a problem. She winds up having a neurocognitive issue and has to be taken off stage. While Lysa believes this is simple medical science, Vikram is convinced it's a spell. The 3D map whirs and comes to life back at the Annex when they look into this, with the pendulum pin-pointing the College of Science Observatory as the area most likely responsible. Eventually Lysa concedes, thanks to her AI software, and believes it could well have been magic. This memory loss appears to be spreading around campus, as during Vikram's rant about smartphones making us more stupid, students and the faculty are also experience memory loss too. The group split up, with Connor and Lysa go hunting for the magical artifact, with Lysa distracting the teaching assistant while Connor sneaks into the library and grabs some important documents called the Culpepper papers. Culpepper was a 17th Century collector and at one point was in possession of the Crystal of Doctor John Dee. This is a magical artifact that could well be their memory loss trinket. Unfortunately, these papers are written in Enochian, which is a language only a few people on Earth know how to translate. Thankfully, we have Vikram. Now, the crystal is harmless in necklace form but once its taken out, it has the power to offer a single desired glimpse in the future. The cost, however, is a memory from the past. The necklace was initially in the London Museum but its recently been stolen, so it must be somewhere inside this College. Unfortunately, Charlie begins to lose her memories while stopping the teaching assistant from crashing his car (which he's forgotten how to drive), and it makes their job that much harder. With Charlie cautious around Vikram and his involvement with the library, given her memories are gone, Lysa and Connor break into the vault downstairs. Whilst there, they realize that Doctor Stonaris is our culprit, and he's using the telescope with the crystal to consume people's memories. The more people who look through it, the more powerful it becomes. Dr Stonaris locks the group in the vault though and decides he's going to go down as one of the best brilliant minds ever. Unfortunately, he doesn't realize the danger he's put them all in. The crystal is becoming overcharged, and in doing so, the ripple effects in our reality will be so profound that it won't just cause memories to erase, but the entire timeline as we know it. With Stonaris pressing ahead with his plan involving the telescope, Vikram decides to sacrifice himself to try and stop him. He steps into the spectral bubble, using his trained brain to stave off the effects of memory loss to stop Stonaris before it's too late. Unfortunately, Stonaris disrupts Vikram's concentration by bringing up Anya, whose memory causes him to lose concentration. Vikram uses the necklace shielding Stonaris from the memory loss, ripping it from round his neck and throws it up to Connor, who's in the process of stopping the telescope. The group are successful and manage to stop Stonaris. Thankfully, Charlie hasn't faded out of existence either. With the world saved, the good doctor is thrown into psychiatric care and our team prepare for their next case! The Episode Review This episode sees a simple but effective mission diving into the world of memory loss and how important our memories actually are to our wellbeing. However, it does come with some silly scenes too, like Charlie somehow managing to ride a bicycle as fast as a car? I understand the car is still spinning in circles but it's pretty amusing that she was able to do this. We do get a little rant here about smartphones and how they're counter-productive to our memory, while the main plot has a decent conclusion. The doctor wanted to be famous and I guess now he's become infamous in a way, thrown into lock-up to make sure he doesn't hurt anybody else. The team do have a nice chemistry now, although it would be good to see them branch out a bit and be tested beyond their capabilities. The earlier arguments between Lysa and Connor seem to have disappeared now too, which is disappointing as it cuts out some of the initial friction within the team. All in all, this is a decent if unremarkable episode. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

THE LIBRARIANS: THE NEXT CHAPTER Recap: (S01E03) And the Ghost Train

Memory and time travel are always tricky things to manage. On The Librarians: The Next Chapter, 'And the Ghost Train,' Vikram (Callum McGowan) and Connor (Bluey Robinson) get front row seats to a dictator's ambitious attempt to control time to ensure he holds power forever. Two lovers are caught up in his plan, and Vikram sees himself losing Anya in their plight. RELATED: Catch up with our recap of the last episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter , 'And the Dance of Doom!' Meanwhile, Lysa (Olivia Ross) seizes an opportunity to learn more about her connection to Anya. Mrs. Astolat (Caroline Loncq) is an unseen presence this time out, but Charlie (Jessica Green) reveals her anxiety over blowing her chance to be a Guardian. Our Librarians team members may have questions and insecurities, but do they ever know how to rise to the occasion. Photograph by Aleksandar Letic The Librarians: The Next Chapter, 'And the Ghost Train' Connor and Lysa move equipment into Vikram's study as he and Charlie play a game of 'Real or Not Real' to test his knowledge of major figures from the past 200 years. Charlie's impressed that Connor and Lysa are working together. She mentions to Vikram that Connor and Lysa celebrated their last success by going out together without inviting Charlie or Vikram. Vikram asks if Charlie's feeling left out. Charlie insists she's only concerned that the team isn't gelling and could make mistakes, which may endanger Vikram. Lysa and Connor return with the next-to-last of the boxes. Connor asks Charlie to open a magic door to Caucasylvia, a landlocked republic in central eastern Europe. He wants to take Vikram on a history lesson to investigate a story about a missing king. Charlie insists on going with them, but Lysa tells her to let the boys go alone and invites her to brunch instead. Caught off guard, Charlie agrees. Trains and Fairies Upon arriving in Caucasylvia, Connor gives Vikram a quick explanation of Cold War tactics. They are in a warehouse of trains. Connor points out the closest one and calls it the Royal Train of King Kavod III (Radivoje Bukvić). Boarding the train, Connor tells Vikram that Kavod disappeared aboard this train exactly 48 years ago to the day and hour. Connor says the king's disappearance remains unsolved to this day. Picking up a small figurine, he mentions there was a rumor of an evil fairy. He tosses the fairy figurine to Vikram, who finds it intriguing. They move onto the next train car, passing a clock showing the time, 4:55. RELATED: Read our Leverage: Redemption recaps At a restaurant, Lysa asks Charlie about the portrait of Anya. Charlie tells her that Anya is Lysa's ancestor from Vikram's time. Lysa's shocked to learn that Vikram's in love with Anya. Charlie realizes that Lysa only invited her out to question her about Anya. Their phones ping at that moment with a message from Mrs. Astolat asking them to see her at the Annex ASAP. Foregoing their meals, they head out immediately. Ghost Train As Connor tells Vikram about Kavod's paranoia, Vikram examines the figurine closely and concludes it's actually a petrified time sprite. The clock in this train car begins to turn backward to 4:17. Suddenly, the train car is full of ghostly figures, dining at the tables, dressed in clothes and uniforms of a different era. The train begins to move. Lysa and Charlie return to the Annex and find a sticky note from Mrs. Astolat directing them to check the pendulum. Charlie calls Vikram to report that the pendulum is tracking a moving magical artifact. Vikram shares that it's a train. RELATED: 5 Great Books About Libraries and Librarians Vikram theorizes that the train is reenacting the king's disappearance thanks to the release of magic from the well. They need to solve the mystery of the king's disappearance before the train, encased in a very solid spirit field, does any significant damage as it follows the route it traveled in the 1970s. Vikram explains that the ghosts on this train are memory ghosts, who don't necessarily need to be dead people. Memory ghosts don't interact with living people. Vikram plans to head to the engine to try to stop the train. He suggests Connor explore the cars toward the train's tail. Connor finds a memory ghost of a dying man wearing a white uniform in the baggage car. The man has a bullet wound in his stomach. He mutters, 'Bell,' over and over. When Connor says he has no bell, the man and gun disappear. Disordered Time Returning to the first train car they visited, Connor notices the clock. He hears a clock chime and turns away just as the clock hands jump back to 4:43. At the far end of the car, he sees a woman holding a gun on a man in a white uniform. She shoots the uniformed man. RELATED: On Location: The Belgrade Fortress on The Librarians: The Next Chapter Vikram grabs Connor's shoulder and tells him delightedly that it's a time loop they're caught in. There's no way to stop the engine. Connor can't figure out how the uniformed man could be dying in one car, but only now gets shot in this car. Vikram acknowledges the loops aren't playing in order. Another clock chime sounds, and the scene at the other end of the car changes. Now, the woman is talking to the uniformed man who inspects a briefcase's contents. Getting closer, Connor recognizes the uniformed man as Kavod. Opening the doors to the next car, they find the memory ghosts of the woman and Kavod sitting on a couch, kissing passionately. The clock in this room says 4:22. Starting at the Beginning In the next train car, the time is 4:19. Kavod chews his fingernails, alone. The woman enters, carrying the briefcase and accompanied by the two large men seen in the earlier train car. Shaking her hand, the king thanks the woman, a member of the British Intelligence Agency, for doing this job for him. She pulls her hand away, admitting that everyone has their price. Connor wonders how they could go from meeting for the first time to kissing to her shooting him in such a short time. Vikram steps to the doorway of the other car, where she gives her papers to the bodyguards. Back in the primary train car, she tells Kavod he should confirm the item's authenticity. Kavod unwraps an item, revealing a living time sprite in a glass cylinder. If the artifact she brought him is genuine, it will affect the sprite. RELATED: TV Review: Leverage: Redemption Season 3 Kavod opens the cylinder slightly, and the sprite petrifies. He is ecstatic. Connor asks Vikram if there's anything they can do for the sprite. Vikram says the Nectar of Niobe can reverse the effect, but he doesn't have any on him. Meanwhile, Kavod explains to the woman that the artifact will help him rule forever. Connor tells Vikram they need to know what is in the briefcase. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Photograph by Aleksandar Letic Falling Into Place Just then, a woman screams as she falls off the train's roof. Vikram heads to to roof access. He and Connor climb up. There's another clock on the roof. This one shows the time is 5:17. They hear a chime, and the minute hand jumps back to 5:12. Vikram notes that when the chime rang, the spirit field phased out momentarily. Ahead of them, the woman climbs onto the train's roof. She mutters, 'Cufflinks,' over and over. Falling to her hands and knees, she rolls off the roof, screaming. She lands safely and stands up, looking regretfully at the passing train. Vikram is fascinated and insists they learn who she is. He tells Connor about seeing the bodyguards checking her papers. That's their chance to learn her identity. Her Caucasylvia papers show her name as 'Ava Ryba' (Natalie Mitson). Waiting List Bound In the Annex, Charlie expects to be thrown back on the waiting list. She tells Lysa that The Library invited her and three other candidates to try out for Guardian. She was the only one who didn't make the cut, although she doesn't know why. Stone (Christian Kane) gave her a second chance when Vikram returned. RELATED: Read our The Lazarus Project recaps Her phone rings. Vikram tells her to find a British spy using the alias Ava Ryba and find out what artifact she gave King Kavod. She and Lysa track that alias to a spy named Bella Goodridge (Sorel Johnson). She's alive and drawing a pension to her home in Sussex, England. Connor and Vikram stride quickly through the train cars they've already seen the time loops in. However, this time, Connor notices the man Bella is kissing doesn't have chewed fingernails. They realize that Bella and the king's double were lovers. Bella brought the artifact in exchange for the double's freedom. The real king and his bodyguards enter. 'Don't you just love love?' asks Kavod III. Bella Lysa and Charlie enter a dark room to find Bella Goodridge, but the body in the bed is a decoy. Bella ambushes them from behind, tripping them up and sending them tumbling to the ground. Once they explain why they're there, she apologizes and serves them tea. Charlie tells her Kavod's train has come back to life. Bella has no trouble believing it, explaining she left the Scythe of Time on the train. On the train, the king inspects the Scythe of Time with Connor and Vikram standing nearby, witnessing. On the phone, Connor explains the artifact is the item Old Father Time hands to the New Year Baby. Whoever has the Scythe can use it to communicate with their past selves. RELATED: Read our Doctor Who recaps Kavod's memory ghost closes the case and tells Young Bella/Ava that he's decided not to release his double, Nikolai. Young Bella tells him the Scythe in the case is a fake. She knew he'd betray her, so she hid the real one on the train where it would still affect the time sprite but where he couldn't find it. When she and Nikolai are safely off the train, she'll give the king the Scythe's location. The Librarians: The Next Chapter – Photograph by Aleksandar Letic Kavod calls Nikolai in and shoots him. Bella grabs the gun. Kavod says the only way to save Nikolai is to use the Scythe to warn herself. She shoots Kavod. Nikolai gets up and stumbles away with her, holding the gun on the bodyguards. They make it to the baggage car, where Nikolai makes her promise not to let Kavod get the Scythe. She promises and plans to uncouple the car where the king and bodyguards are. Kissing him, she swears that she'll come back to him. Grabbing Second Chances She climbs up to the roof but falls off. Vikram looks at Nikolai, bleeding out while repeating, 'Bella,' and sadly describes how Nikolai and Bella's pain stretched across decades. Connor asks Vikram if he's lost someone. Vikram says that after 200 years, he's lost everyone. He takes the phone and addresses present-day Bella, asking her for the Scythe's location. Tearfully, Bella ends the call and tells the women to leave her alone. Charlie tells her that second chances are rare and she needs to jump at the opportunity to help Nikolai now because she couldn't 48 years ago. RELATED: Revival : Check Out 9 First-Look Photos From Melanie Scrofano-Led Series Bella asks how fast the train is going. Lysa says about 90 miles an hour. Bella responds that they'll need a very fast car. Using the magic door, they travel to a farm near where the train is running and steal a red Datsun. The plan is to transfer Bella onto the train in the brief moment when the spirit field resets. Charlie despairs at getting her to the train on time. Vikram reassures her that she can do it, and they transfer Bella successfully. On the train, Bella transforms into her younger self. As they move through the dining car, Vikram realizes the ghosts are no longer ghostly. The realities are syncing, and the train will do real damage as it becomes more solid. Bella shows them she hid the Scythe in the clock in the first train car, disguised as the hour hand. Kavod comes in and takes it. Bella tries to shoot him, but now that he has the Scythe, he is always in a different spot when she fires her gun. Just in Time Vikram approaches Kavod and tries to warn him of the danger. Kavod believes he is invincible. Vikram reaches out quickly and makes contact with the Scythe briefly. The bodyguards shove Vikram away. Vikram stands up holding the petrified time sprite. With a smile, he uncorks a bottle, announcing it is the Nectar of Niobe. He pours it on the time sprite and revitalizes it. It flies at Kavod, furious, and reverses his life out of existence. RELATED: Read our recaps of The Librarians: The Next Chapter Vikram tells Bella to go to Nikolai and fulfill her promise. She holds Nikolai as he dies. His ghost disappears. The train's dining car ghosts disappear next. The train slows down and stops when it hits an old statue of Kavod. Bella returns to her present-day self and thanks Vikram for her second chance. At the Annex, Vikram explains that when he made contact with the Scythe, he sent a message back to himself to bring the Nectar of Niobe with him to Caucasylvia. Connor checks in with him and lets him know that if he ever needs a friend, he's there. Vikram thanks him for that. Lysa and Connor decide to go for drinks, inviting everyone. Vikram declines, but Charlie happily accepts. Left alone, Vikram pulls out the Scythe and considers it solemnly. New episodes of The Librarians: The Next Chapter air on TNT on Mondays at 9 pm ET. And The Dance of Doom Episode 2 of The Librarians: The Next Chapter begins with a ballet dancer dancing right off into the street where she's hit by a car. Despite being knocked out and comatose, her feet are still dancing. Over at the Annex, Lysa and Connor acquaint themselves to the various trinkets and different goodies on display for them to use. It's here we meet Elaine Astolat, who happens to be the caretaker of the Annex. She's been waiting for nearly 200 years, explaining how she's adopted a number of different roles – including the realtor who has signed the castle over to Lysa. Ms Astolat has a magical map and unravelling it on the table, she explains that after Vikram opened the well and let magic spill out, they have no idea how widespread this situation is so they need to get a handle on things. Lysa continues to play up the role of magic doubter here, butting heads constantly with Connor who dives head-first into this world. It doesn't take long for them to catch wind of the ballet dancer and the magic therein. The team head off to the hospital, where they find the ballerina in a hospital bed. She's comatose and is actually the principal dancer for the ballet company. Interestingly, she also sports a white streak in her hair which could be an important point to note. Vikram leads the group over to the theatre to sniff out extra clues. Yelena is the choreographer here and she's not happy with the librarian troupe showing and asking questions. They blag their way into staying, and it turns out Charlie is actually trained in ballet, so she helps with the basics of dancing terms and who everyone is. Dame Anna is the woman in charge here, and the one determined to press on with the performance of Jezebel. Not only is she butting heads with the conductor over who's the most important part of this show, there also appears to be an ongoing feud between Dame Anna and the Board of Directors. Anna is determined to press on with this show regardless, wanting her last page to be one of triumph rather than misery. Another incident occurs during a rehearsal, when one of the dancers starts spinning and her shoes begin steaming, almost catching light. The Librarians jump in and save the day, lifting her up. They stop the girl from combusting and take the shoes back to the Annex. There, Charlie susses the culprit could be the Rosin Box, which originates its contents out in the old woods. Connor and Lysa head out together where they continue to bicker the whole time, before Vikram races in. The gang track down a dance tree, which happens to be the source of the magic resin. There are scars across the tree and it appears someone has been spiking the resin. This has been used, in turn, to control the dancers and drain them of vitality and essence. Vikram quickly realizes that this is the work of a witch. Specifically, a witch by the name of Lady Midday. This witch saps the vitality from others to keep herself young and intends to hijack the Jezebel performance and dance herself. It's absolutely no surprise to find out that Anna is the witch and when Vikram shows to confront her, she's only surprised its taken him this long to figure it out. Anna explains she's been sprinkling resin all over the place and intends to use that to fuel her own performance. Yelena has been drained of essence already, turned into a husk of what she once was. That's not good news, especially when Anna tasers Vikram, knocks him out, and prepares for her big dance. Should she be successful here, she'll drain the essence of the entire theatre audience and kill them all. If the gang can stop Anna from dancing though, they could stop the spell but part of that includes Charlie heading out on stage to disrupt the performance. Connor and Lysa work to drop various props from the ceiling to try and put her off but it initially doesn't seem to work. Anna completes her performance and revels in the applause… but there's a problem. The performance hasn't worked. Turns out Vikram has sabotaged the music, slowing the tempo just enough so Lady Midday misses her magic vitality window. It eventually leads to her crumbling to dust and disappearing. The theatre applaud, believing it's all part of the performance, but more importantly, the witch is stopped. Back at the Annex, we learn that the Prima Ballerina is going to recover, but unfortunately Yelena is too far gone. Despite coming out on top, Connor and Lysa bicker about their antics until Vikram jumps in and reminds them they did a good job. The Episode Review The Librarians: The Next Chapter returns with a decent enough episode, one that slips into the familiar vibe of the old Librarian stories in the original series, with a simple but effective premise. Personally, it would have been nice to see more of the overarching story involving Gregor, and the absence of Jacob Stone can definitely be felt here. However, Vikram's journey from a confident loner to reluctant leader of the group is already starting to take shape and you can see parts of this character journey come to fruition. There's plenty of opportunities for this series to deliver some bombastic action and big set pieces in the future, but for now this series does a reasonably good job capturing the tone and vibe of the old series. While a step down from the pilot, lets hope the episodes ahead pick up a bit. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!
