Amazon Prime releases 'gut wrenching' true crime documentary as viewers left in tears

The new four part docuseries tells the story of the shocking murders of four college students in Idaho in 2022. Amazon Prime Video has released a new gut wrenching documentary series which has left some viewers in tears at "least four times" in just one episode. One Night in Idaho: The College Murders, is a four part documentary which tells the story of the heartbreaking murders of students Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen who were killed in their home in a quiet Idaho town in November 2022. ‌ While previous documentaries about their horrific murders have aired, this new series, which premiered on July 11, opens up on the raw grief that the victims' loved ones have been coping with in the aftermath of their deaths. The series includes tear jerking interviews with the parents of Madison Mogen and Ethan Chapin, who publicly open up about the trauma of losing their children for the first time, the M.E.N reports. ‌ The Amazon Prime synopsis reads: "In the middle of the night on November 13, 2022, four university students were brutally murdered in an off-campus house in the quiet college town of Moscow, Idaho. With exclusive and intimate access to figures closest to the victims, One Night in Idaho: The College Murders explores the emotional twists and turns of this American tragedy and its continued fallout." ‌ Killer Bryan Kohberger, 30, sealed his fate earlier this month when he formally admitted to committing all four murders in a signed confession filed in court. Viewers have already applauded One Night in Idaho: The College Murders, hailing it as the "best documentary made" for a number of reasons. One fan on Reddit wrote: "Watched the first episode and I have to say, what a beautifully made documentary." A second commented: "I can't imagine how difficult it was in the early days for their friends and people associated with them. I'm glad the doc touched on that. ‌ "Being blamed for the murder of your friends and being doxxed and harassed just adds another layer of trauma that these internet sleuths do not care about." A third added: "This is the best of the documentaries there is so far. I cried at least four times and I've only watched the first episode. "You can literally feel the pain of their friends and parents. Last time I cried like this was reading Stacey Chapin's book about little Ethan." ‌ A fourth chimed in: "I've just started it and it's gut wrenching to see all the videos and how much they were loved." Someone else remarked: "I thought it was amazing. Straight tears when Ethan's dad talked about how he would talk to him in the basement. "Very victim oriented. I think this is why this documentary works so well, even my boyfriend was super into it."

Oasis gigs in Manchester this weekend sees major rule change for all ticket holders

Oasis are set to return home to play Manchester's Heaton Park this weekend for their five show run in the city and the weather is to be scorching This weekend will see the historical return of one of the UK's most famous bands as Oasis finally return home to Manchester for the first of their five huge shows. Liam and Noel Gallagher will head to the city this Friday and Saturday night as a part of their Oasis Live '25 tour. Following on from their huge opening shows in Cardiff last week, Oasis will be back on their home turf as excited fans finally get the moment they've been waiting for after 16 years. Prior to their reunion last week, the last time the Gallagher brothers played together was at V Festival in August of 2009. ‌ Their 19-song set list for their comeback tour includes huge hits like Rock 'n' Roll Star and Wonderwall, and they concluded their last show with I Am The Walrus. The tour was announced last august, two days before the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe and it's safe to say there's been a huge interest in securing tickets. ‌ Oasis Live '25 was the biggest concert launch ever seen in the UK and Ireland and attracted over ten million fans who were desperate to be in with a chance of attending one of the biggest music tours in years, the M.E.N reports. Those attending the Manchester shows will be able to enter the park from 3pm onwards. Cast will play at 6pm, followed by Richard Ashcroft at 7pm, and Oasis at 8:15pm with curfew for the venue being 10:30pm. Ahead of the highly anticipated gigs at Heaton Park this weekend, the event organisers have issued a number of updates for ticket holders attending the first two events. ‌ As temperatures this weekend are forecast to be very hot, one major rule has changed surrounding bringing in water to Heaton Park on show days. Prior to the forecast this week, which is set to see highs of 30C and 31C on Friday and Saturday, the guidance was that fans were welcome to bring in an empty plastic bottle, to refill at one of the water stations. ‌ However, it has now been updated that those attending are allowed to bring a sealed bottle of water up to 500ml. However, it must be collapsible plastic as solid plastic, metal etc containers will not be permitted on the grounds of safety. Bottles with broken seals will be emptied, and there is free water to refill your bottle on site. There will also be water cups available from the welfare tent to use at the refill points. Concert goers are also urged to wear suncream and will be permitted to bring in a small bottle of sun cream of 200ml or under. Fans have also been advised to bring a hat, which is not unusual for a bucket hat loving Manchester crowd. Organisers are also expecting large crowds in attendance so ticket holders are urged to allow plenty of time to travel and to arrive early.

Terrified drivers describe moment cars swerved as lorry crossed motorway in eight-vehicle crash Emergency services were called out to the scene of an eight-vehicle collision on the M60 motorway Oil and debris was scattered across the M60 in the aftermath of the incident (Image: National Highways ) Petrified motorists have recounted the moment they had to veer off course and brake abruptly as a lorry careened across the M60 in a dreadful smash on the morning of Monday July 7. Emergency services rushed to an eight-vehicle collision – which included four HGVs and four cars – occurring between junctions 27 at the Portwood roundabout and junction one for the Stockport Pyramid shortly before 11.30am. One of the HGVs is reported to have breached the central reservation, hitting 'several lamp columns in the process'. ‌ Another vehicle lost its cargo of beer barrels onto the road, while 'several ruptured fuel tanks' spilled diesel onto the tarmac. ‌ A motorist explained that the chaos erupted after a car hit one of the lorries involved Both directions of the motorway were shut down by emergency personnel, with alternative routes being established. For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation, sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here Chilling footage captured post-collision revealed mangled vehicles, an overturned lorry cab, and debris littering the road, reports the Manchester Evening News. Article continues below The central barrier was visibly destroyed, with oil and beer barrels dispersed around the area. A driver who witnessed the crash unfold from behind described to the M. E.N how it began with a 'speeding car' that led another vehicle to swerve and collide with one of the lorries involved. "A car was racing on the motorway and caused another car to swerve into the HGV, which then swerved across to the other side," they explained. ‌ "The lorry then went over which caused a knock on effect. We were in the car directly behind so we got out, I was on the phone to 999 and went to check everyone. The fire brigade were there within five minutes, then ambulance and police crews and an off duty paramedic who pulled over to help with the chaos. "To make it even worse, we were stood there in the middle of the motorway with this horrible crash and people are driving off at junction 27 on the phone or hanging out their windows recording. "[Cars] swerved straight into other lanes. My husband hit my brakes and my car swerved over the two lanes. ‌ "It was really really bad. But luckily no-one was seriously hurt and the 999 operator got everyone there really fast. She was great keeping me calm on the phone while I was explaining everything." The aftermath of the collision as seen in a footage recorded after the crash on July 7 (Image: Submitted ) Emergency services rushed to the scene and shut the motorway in both directions whilst dealing with Monday's incident. ‌ Authorities confirmed that whilst no severe injuries occurred during the crash, several individuals sustained 'minor injuries'. North West Ambulance Service reported that three casualties required hospital treatment, whilst six additional people received assessment at the location for minor injuries. A National Highways spokesperson announced shortly after 1pm: "Greater Manchester Police, Manchester Fire and Rescue, North West Ambulance Service, National Highways Traffic Officers and maintenance contractors are attending this incident. Article continues below "It has been confirmed there were only minor injuries from the collision but it is expected the road will remain closed in both directions for a substantial amount of time due to the amount of infrastructure damage, spillage, debris clean-up and the recovery of several substantially damaged large vehicles."

'My mum never got to travel the world, hopefully her next journey lasts longer than 12 hours'

A woman who bottled her mum's ashes and threw them out to sea hopes her mum will now 'finally get chance to see the world' thanks to the kindness of strangers on social media. Cara Melia and her four siblings tragically lost their mum Wendy aged just 51 unexpectedly to heart disease in February of this year. During a recent visit to a beach in Skegness, Cara, from Oldham, decided that instead of scattering her mum's ashes, she would bottle them with a handwritten note and send them out to sea in the hopes her mum would travel the world. READ MORE: Missing Brit Greg Monks who disappeared after Portugal stag do found dead READ MORE: Alleged 'mastermind' fled to South America after Thomas Campbell 'tortured to death', jury told Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE Having always wanted to have travelled, Wendy never got the chance due to being full-time carer for her late brother and mum, and was a stay-at-home mum to her five children in the Sholver area. Speaking to the M.E.N, Cara said: "We lost my mum very unexpectedly. Nobody was prepared for at all. "We had the funeral and she was cremated. I had booked a holiday to go to Butlins with my friend in Skegness, so I thought I'd scatter her on the beach where she was at her happiest. "But my best friend thought of the bottle idea and put her out to sea. I wrote the note because I wanted her to finally get to travel because she didn't get to before she passed. "For a long time she looked after her late brother and her mum as their carer. She had five children who she ended up loving and adoring. "She was very quirky and different. She always loved her leather jacket and her boots. If she could be anywhere it would always be the beach. It didn't matter where it was. But just 12 hours after releasing the bottle into the sea at Ingoldmells Beach, another woman also on holiday at Butlins with her two children saw the bottle had washed up onto shore, and read the handwritten message from Cara, asking for any finders to throw it back into the water. "This is my mum. Throw her back in she's travelling the world," the note read. After finding the bottle and reading the note, the mum then posted a heart-warming status on Facebook, along with a video of her son throwing the bottle back into the sea, relying on the power of social media to track Cara down and inform her that Wendy was getting another chance at travelling. "Can everyone please share this far and wide in hope it finds Cara from Oldham!!," it read. "We found this lovely lady earlier today at Butlins, Skegness beach. She's been thrown back in the sea as requested.. happy travels Cara's Mum." Within minutes, the post had been re-shared in a number of groups and quickly made its way back to Cara, who now lives in Royton. "I'd thrown the bottle in hoping she'd have a good travel but within 12 hours she was back on the beach and it didn't go as planned," Cara added. "Then my best friend rang me and said 'your mum's on Facebook' and told me someone had found her already. I have said a big thank you to her for putting her back in the sea because so many people wouldn't have bothered. "I am hoping she goes further this time and finally gets a chance to travel the world. It seems to have touched so many people." --- Day in day out, our reporters in the Manchester Evening News newsroom bring you remarkable stories from all aspects of Mancunian life.
