Government gives priority to projects that benefit the rakyat, says PM Anwar
ROME — The MADANI Government is willing to take hard and sometimes unpopular decisions to ensure development and projects that benefit the rakyat can be implemented, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, who is here on a three-day working visit, said despite criticism over government's move to implement certain policies such as subsidy rationalisation or tariff, they needed to be carried out for the benefit of the people. 'All governments, all prime ministers in the past talk about taking away subsidies from foreigners, but none took the right action,' he said at the Majlis Ramah Mesra Bersama Diaspora Malaysia here tonight (Tuesday, July 1). The premier said various actions taken by the government, including subsidies and tax rationalisations were implemented to build more schools, universities and hospitals that will help the masses. During the dinner, Anwar also shared that various programmes and policies are being undertaken by his government to ensure the country remains competitive. 'To our diaspora in Italy, you are our ambassadors and our asset. You have a big role to play in bringing Malayia into the international platform. 'Therefore, I leave a message for you to continue to seize every opportunity and space to strengthen your knowledge, skills and networks in order to contribute back to the homeland, good governance,' he said. Also present at the dinner were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Malaysia's Ambassador to Italy Datuk Zahid Rastam, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. — BERNAMA

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced that the amendments establish a clear legal framework for implementing provisions in the amended act, offering consistent pathways for the recognition and registration of specialists trained via the parallel pathway and local specialist training. The amendments also clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Malaysian Medical Council and enhance the structure and membership of the Malaysian Medical Council to reflect current healthcare workforce needs, particularly in the public sector. Key improvements include a more transparent and regulated evaluation process for local specialist training programs, ensuring qualified professionals are assessed fairly and registered to serve the public effectively. This aims to boost public confidence and ensure consistent competency standards across all training routes. Dr Dzulkefly emphasised the ministry's ongoing collaboration with key stakeholders to drive health system reforms under the MADANI framework. Kota MADANI development meets modern needs with sustainable facilities
KUALA LUMPUR: The Kota MADANI development project has been justified as a necessary initiative to address current housing and infrastructure demands, particularly for civil servants. Designed with sustainability and advanced safety features, the project aims to provide comprehensive facilities, eliminating the need for residents to fund basic amenities later. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan emphasised that the project integrates digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) while prioritising essential services. These include schools, mosques, a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution, and a government health clinic. 'This is not a new Putrajaya or a mega mall project, but one focused on delivering basic facilities to meet the increasing needs of residents,' he said in a Facebook post. Zulkifli noted that past developments often excluded critical amenities in initial planning, forcing communities to raise funds for construction. 'With these planned facilities, residents will no longer need to travel long distances to send their children to school or go to mosque, which is a common challenge today.' The project aligns with the MADANI philosophy, promoting balanced development in education, spirituality, recreation, and economic activities. Zulkifli urged nationwide adoption of this model, stating it would benefit residents and stakeholders. Launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on June 26, the RM4 billion Kota MADANI project in Precinct 19, Putrajaya, operates under a public-private partnership via a build, lease, maintain, and transfer (BLMT) framework, requiring no initial government funding.

KK MP rewards 367 top SPM students

KOTA KINABALU (June 30): Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament cum Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Chan Foong Hin, has allocated over RM100,000 this year to reward 367 high-achieving students who excelled in the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. This marks the second consecutive year the Kota Kinabalu Parliamentary Office has hosted the 'Anugerah Kecemerlangan SPM MADANI' awards ceremony, which celebrates academic excellence and encourages students to continue striving for success. The ceremony took place on Saturday at SJKC Chung Hwa Likas. Students who achieved between 6As and 11As received cash awards of RM250 to RM300 each. Among the recipients, 113 students scored 9As or above. Special awards were also presented for Best Male Student, Best Female Student, and Best Performing School. Notably, both the top male and female students were from Tshung Tsin Secondary School: Soh Yim Qin scored 10A+, while Mohammad Arif Mohammad Adam achieved 9A+ and 1A. He reaffirmed that quality education is a right for every student, regardless of race, religion, or socioeconomic status. He also underscored the MADANI Government's commitment to ensuring equal access to education that can truly change lives and uplift communities. 'As Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized, quality education is the foundation of a MADANI society. We must cultivate a generation that is not only knowledgeable but also morally grounded, in order to build an inclusive and competitive nation,' he said. 'As a member of the MADANI administration, I fully support the Prime Minister's vision. We are committed to ensuring that no student is left behind — whether they come from B40 families, rural areas, or face physical and mental challenges.' Chan also welcomed the MADANI government's policy guaranteeing placement in the matriculation programme for all students who scored 10As and above in the 2024 SPM examination and applied for admission — regardless of race or background. He noted that this policy, introduced last year, reflects the government's commitment to fairness and equal opportunity in education. He added that the Kota Kinabalu Parliamentary Office will continue to work closely with the Sabah Education Department (PPD) and local schools to improve education infrastructure, provide support for at-risk students, and encourage greater involvement from the community and private sector in shaping the future of education. Last year, Chan allocated RM55,000 to reward 205 students in Kota Kinabalu who achieved excellent results in the 2023 SPM examination.
