Musk Vows to Back Trump's Nemesis as Their Feud Explodes
Elon Musk has promised to donate to Rep. Thomas Massie's re-election campaign as the Kentucky Republican faces down the wrath of Donald Trump. The world's richest man responded with a simple 'Me' on X after a user asked who else would support Massie's 2026 re-election bid, as Musk's feud with the president enters proxy war territory. Massie has long been a thorn in Trump's side, frequently voting against his legislative priorities—notably his 'One Big Beautiful' spending bill—and publicly opposing the decision to launch airstrikes on Iran. Trump is now actively working to oust Massie from office. The president's team launched a new Super PAC, MAGA Kentucky, which has already aired attack ads targeting the congressman. Trump is eyeing Kentucky state Senator Aaron Reed to replace Massie as the Republican candidate for Kentucky's 4th Congressional District, reported Politico. Massie did not immediately responded to a request for comment from the Daily Beast. Massie, who backed Trump's rival Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, in the 2024 GOP presidential primary, is set to gain the financial backing of Musk as he seeks another term in office The tech billionaire pumped nearly $300 million into Trump's 2024 White House bid, and suggested the president 'would have lost the election' if it wasn't for his funding during the pair's explosive falling-out last month. It seemed that Musk and Trump's public spat had cooled down, but it has been reignited as negotiations on Trump's megabill continue in the Senate. Musk went into furious posting spree on X, complaining that it would add trillions to the national debt. Musk also vowed to help form a third political party, dubbed the America Party, if Trump's spending bill gets passed. On Monday, Musk also suggested that members of Congress who 'campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame.' 'And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,' he added. Trump fired back with his own late-night Truth Social threat while defending his plan to roll back a Biden-era electric vehicle mandate. 'Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Elon may get more subsidy [sic] than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,' Trump wrote. 'No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!' Shares in Musk's electric vehicle company Tesla fell more than 5 percent in European premarket trading on Tradegate shortly after Trump's tirade.

Last month, Trump fumed against the Kentucky Republican amid his steadfast opposition to the president's signature policy bill. 'I don't think Thomas Massie understands government. I think he's a grandstander, frankly. He'll probably vote- We don't even talk to him much. I think he should be voted out of office,' Trump said. Massie, however, has cultivated a defiant independence during his time in Congress and has dismissed the threats from Trump and his allies. 'If they would just quit hitting me I might get bored and give up,' Massie told reporters on Capitol Hill earlier this week. 'But I'm not going to lose. I do not lose.'

Pro-Trump PAC targets Massie in first ad
The pro-Trump PAC MAGA Kentucky rolled out its first ad targeting Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) on Friday, marking the first spot in a $1 million ad buy as the lawmaker feuds with President Trump. The 30-second ad, titled 'What happened to Thomas Massie?' hits the GOP congressman over his opposition to Trump-supported legislation to fund border security and cut taxes, as well as his opposition to the president's recent military intervention in Iran. 'After Trump obliterated Iran's nuclear weapons program, Massie sided with Democrats and the Ayatollah,' the ad's narrator says, as an image of Massie flashes on screen with other images of Ayatollah Khomeini, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Massie quickly responded to the ad in a post on X, appearing to to refer to measures in Trump's legislative agenda that the Senate parliamentarian opposed, including blocking Medicaid funds to be used for gender-affirming care. 'The BBB now allows funding sex changes for minors!' Massie said, referring to Trump's 'big, beautiful bill. 'This ad slams me for voting against the BBB, but the Senate just stripped the 'ban on sex changes for minors' from the BBB. By the ads' twisted logic, those who support the Senate's edits now support sex changes for minors.' The ad is one of the first major steps Trump's political operation has taken in its effort to oust Massie from Congress. Earlier this week, Trump's co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita launched MAGA Kentucky PAC amid Trump's growing feud with Massie. 'MAGA KY was formed for the specific purpose of firing Thomas Massie – His constituents will soon learn that he prefers the politics and policy of AOC and the radical left – over President Trump,' LaCivita told NewsNation, The Hill's sister cable network.

Trump advisers are actively recruiting a primary challenger to Massie, with an eye toward clearing the field so Massie rivals don't splinter support. "The good news is that we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I'll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.
