The shift addresses growing challenges faced under MAICSA's previous manual payment system, which, although functional, became increasingly inefficient as transaction volumes rose. 'Payments via traditional bank transfers often required time-consuming verification and reconciliation, particularly during peak periods, which led to delays and added significant administrative burden,' Justin explained. 'Members were also faced with limited payment methods, which sometimes impacted their experience. CommercePay allows us to deliver the seamless, modern experience our members expect in today's digital landscape.' Features such as real-time tracking, instant confirmations, automated reconciliation, and support for multiple payment methods — including FPX, credit/debit cards, and popular e-wallets — ensure secure, transparent, and frictionless transactions. 'From a governance perspective, it's vital that stakeholders have confidence that all interactions, including payments, are conducted with integrity and transparency,' Justin added. 'CommercePay helps us uphold that trust while driving operational efficiency.' The implementation of CommercePay has already yielded tangible results. Internally, it has reduced manual workload for administrative and finance teams, improved data accuracy, and accelerated transaction processing. Externally, members now benefit from a more responsive, user-friendly, and secure payment experience. CommercePay, which is gaining strong traction among Malaysian SMEs, professional bodies, and digital businesses, offers a scalable infrastructure tailored for service-oriented organisations. Meanwhile, CommercePay General Manager Patricia Silvanus said that the partnership with MAICSA demonstrates how fintech can empower even long-established institutions to modernise and thrive. 'CommercePay was designed with organisations like MAICSA in mind — professional, service-driven, and growth-oriented,' she said. 'Its developer-friendly architecture, strong security, and seamless integration make it ideal for organisations seeking to scale without compromising on compliance or stability. We are proud to support MAICSA in its mission to lead governance excellence through innovation.' This collaboration is part of MAICSA's broader digital transformation agenda to embed innovation across all touchpoints — from member engagement to education delivery and operational processes — ensuring the Institute remains at the forefront of governance advocacy and professional development. Established in 1959, MAICSA is widely recognised as a thought leader in corporate governance, company secretarial practice, and compliance. Under Justin's leadership, the Institute has accelerated its digital agenda while remaining firmly rooted in its values of integrity, accountability, and service to the profession. 'Justin is seen by industry observers as a visionary leader who is modernising MAICSA to meet the demands of a rapidly changing corporate environment, without losing sight of its core mission,' said one governance expert. Meanwhile, CommercePay continues to expand its footprint, with hundreds of Malaysian merchants now leveraging the platform to scale their digital operations. 'Whether it's a fast-growing SME, a professional body or a large enterprise, CommercePay empowers organisations to thrive in the digital economy,' Patricia added. 'We look forward to enabling more institutions like MAICSA to unlock greater efficiency, transparency and value for their stakeholders.' Related
