MCIT, MSDF join hands to promote digital culture, family unity

QNA Doha As Qatar continues its digital transformation, the importance of digital awareness as a cornerstone for family protection and safe technology use is growing. In response, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), has launched a new phase of cooperation to expand the reach of the national 'SafeSpace' initiative. The ministries will work together to share 'SafeSpace' content through MSDF platforms. This collaboration reflects the shared commitment to enhancing community digital literacy. This cooperation marks a significant step toward institutional integration, combining MCIT's expertise in developing engaging awareness content with MSDF's ability to reach key segments of Qatari society. The initiative aims to equip parents, children and youth with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the digital world safely and confidently. As part of this collaboration, content from the SafeSpace digital safety initiative will be published periodically on MSDF's social media channels and official website. A unified visual identity will also be created to ensure the delivery of key messages to the intended audience. SafeSpace is one of MCIT's initiatives designed to foster a secure digital environment for all users. It focuses on creating and distributing interactive awareness content addressing issues such as personal data protection, cyberbullying, digital blackmail, internet addiction, and the importance of family dialogue about technology use. Duha Al Buhendi, director of the Digital Society and Digital Competencies Department at MCIT, stated: 'Promoting responsible digital culture within the family is not just an awareness goal, it's a strategic necessity. Through SafeSpace, we deliver well-crafted, simplified content that resonates with people's real lives. This collaboration with MSDF is an opportunity to amplify our messages and reach a wider segment of the community.' She added, 'Achieving real societal impact requires joint action and institutional synergy. This collaboration represents a model of national partnership that supports digital safety, fosters responsible behavior, and empowers families to interact with technology safely and confidently. This step reflects a broader vision to empower families to fulfill their educational role in the digital age by providing accessible, reliable, and locally relevant awareness content.' Dhabya Al Meqbali, director of the Family Development Department at MSDF, commented: 'This cooperation with MCIT is a key milestone in our shared efforts to build a digitally aware society. We believe that protecting families in the digital age starts with education, and empowering parents with the right information is a modern form of social care. SafeSpace provides rich, purposeful content that helps families face digital challenges confidently and with balance, whether it's cyberbullying, privacy concerns, or screen addiction.' She added, 'This collaboration reflects our commitment as a community-oriented institution to promoting educational and human values through modern awareness tools that are in tune with the rapid pace of digital transformation. We are dedicated to supporting this national initiative and aligning efforts with MCIT to enhance family stability and digital quality of life in Qatar.' This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both ministries to improving the digital well-being of society, based on the principle that awareness is a national responsibility that must be shared. The collaboration is expected to foster sustainable digital behavior, strengthen family dialogue, and empower individuals to engage with digital tools and the internet safely and constructively. The collaboration also supports the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in the human and social development pillars, recognizing digital awareness as a fundamental component of a productive, cohesive, and digitally capable society.

CST Launches Second Phase of "Recycle Your Device" Campaign

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has officially launched the second phase of its 'Recycle Your Device' campaign, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN), and key partners including Aramco, Roshn Group, Ertiqa, Jahez, Zain, SMSA, the Saudi Green Initiative, the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), and CO Kitchens. Targeting both individuals and businesses, the initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability by encouraging the recycling of electronic devices as part of a broader shift toward a circular economy. This effort also supports social responsibility by helping underserved families gain access to digital tools. A dedicated digital platform has been created to guide users through the process of donating their devices. It includes information on eligible items such as landline and mobile phones, tablets, modems, printers, desktop computers, and laptops. The initiative offers two main pathways: one for securely recycling devices and donating the value of recovered materials, and another for refurbishing devices to be donated to families in need. CST has stressed that all personal data will be permanently erased from each device to protect users' privacy. The first phase of the campaign, launched in 2022 with MCIT, MWAN, and private sector partners, saw the donation of over 100,000 devices valued at more than SAR 30 million. This milestone marked a significant step in reducing electronic waste, conserving resources, and supporting the long-term sustainability of Saudi Arabia's digital economy. MCIT holds 2nd executive roundtable

QNA Doha As part of its commitment to enhancing government efficiency and adopting advanced AI tools, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) held the second executive roundtable for the Copilot Adoption Programme, with participation from leadership representatives across government entities. The roundtable served as a platform to review progress achieved since the programme's launch in February, evaluate key outcomes, and explore pathways to expand and deepen Copilot's implementation in the upcoming phase. The meeting featured a comprehensive overview of first-phase achievements, including the successful delivery of over 174 specialised training sessions for representatives across government entities, with 56 additional sessions scheduled through June. Discussions also addressed upcoming priorities, such as achieving full licence activation, activating the AI Council to oversee institutional adoption, and launching internal Copilot Champions programmes to support training, engagement, and expansion efforts across government organisations. Programme indicators revealed steady progress, with 67 percent of licences activated and strong satisfaction scores from participating employees—90 percent for content quality and 95 percent for training delivery. These results reflect strong engagement from participating entities and a growing culture of digital enablement within the public sector. This positive trajectory is expected to continue as the programme enters its next stage, with more advanced workshops and expanded technical support planned in the coming months. At the conclusion of the meeting, MCIT honoured Sidra Medicine, Ashghal, and its internal teams in recognition of their tangible efforts to drive institutional adoption and maximise the tool's impact on productivity. Launched in February, the Copilot Adoption Programme represents a key pillar of the Qatar Digital Agenda 2030. It serves as a practical model of MCIT's strategic direction to leverage advanced technologies in modernising government operations and equipping employees with cutting-edge digital tools. The programme also reflects the ministry's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation within public institutions and broadening the use of artificial intelligence across sectors—ultimately contributing to greater operational efficiency and added value in public service delivery.
