NMDC expands global footprint with its new office in Dubai, forging global pathways in mining
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 1 (ANI): NMDC, India's largest iron ore producer, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new international office in Dubai, UAE on Tuesday. This strategic expansion fortifies NMDC's global presence and propels its vision to become a multinational mining powerhouse, the company said in a release. The office was inaugurated by the Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Minister of Steel, and Heavy Industries, in the presence of HE Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE. The Dubai office will serve as a strategic hub for NMDC, actively tracking developments in the mineral sectors across the MENA region, Africa, and Australia, including regulatory changes and government policies. It will focus on scouting mineral assets, conducting technical due diligence, and facilitating engagements with government bodies, business partners, and research institutions. By providing real-time market intelligence and timely decision support, the office will enable NMDC's leadership to respond swiftly to global opportunities. Additionally, it will help build a reliable network for confidential insights on peer companies and explore collaborations in Mining Equipment and Technology Services (METS). Speaking on the occasion, Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC, said, 'Dubai represents a gateway to global opportunity. With this new office, NMDC is poised to redefine the mining landscape. With our expansion, we are revolutionising our approach to mineral development, securing India's position as a leader in the mining industry, driving innovation in resource utilisation.' As a part of its global mineral diversification strategy, NMDC has been actively evaluating acquisition opportunities across 10 strategic mineral assets globally and exploring critical mineral block acquisitions in Africa, Australia & South America to strengthen its presence in the global critical mineral value chain. New Delhi: State-owned mining company NMDC opened its international office in Dubai , aiming to enhance its global footprint and accelerate the acquisition of critical and strategic mineral assets across Africa, Australia, South America, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The Dubai office will serve as NMDC's international operations centre and provide real-time market intelligence, support technical and legal due diligence, and facilitate engagement with local authorities and business partners. Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy inaugurated the office in the presence of Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir, NMDC CMD Amitava Mukherjee, SAIL CMD Amarendu Prakash, and Consul General of India in Dubai Satish Kumar Sivan. Speaking at the launch, CMD Amitava Mukherjee said, 'Dubai represents a gateway to global opportunity. With this new office, NMDC is poised to redefine the mining landscape. With our expansion we are revolutionizing our approach to mineral development, securing India's position as a leader in the mining industry, driving innovation in resource utilization.' The Dubai centre will track developments in the global mining sector, including government policies and regulatory changes, and provide timely decision support to NMDC's leadership. It will also be instrumental in facilitating partnerships in Mining Equipment and Technology Services (METS) and in building a global network for peer insights and data sharing. NMDC is currently evaluating ten global strategic mineral assets and is exploring options to acquire critical mineral blocks in resource-rich geographies. The international presence is expected to strengthen India's integration into global mineral supply chains and ensure resource security . The company said the Dubai office will serve as a hub for its international engagement efforts, supporting India's ambitions in the critical minerals domain.

That skid was gone by Saturday's third inning, when Lindor jumped on what would be the first of three consecutive Mets home runs. After an 11-4 victory over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park was secured, that home run meant the Mets have won the past 28 games in which Lindor has homered, just one shy of the all-time MLB record established by Carl Furillo from 1951-53. And so the Mets won and Lindor played well, brushing aside concerns about his broken pinkie toe and lugging the team on his back once more. Following their leader, Brandon Nimmo and Juan Soto then added blasts of their own to become the first Mets to go back-to-back-to-back since Nimmo, Lindor and Jeff McNeil did it in 2022. Lindor did not play like an athlete who broke his right pinkie toe just two and a half weeks ago and missed only one game as a result. There has been wonder about whether the Mets would be better off giving their everyday shortstop a day or two to allow that toe to heal. As he continues to play an excellent shortstop and his bat once again looks strong, Lindor reminded why he is so difficult to pluck out of the lineup.

Joplin firefighters tackle 11th-floor fire alarm at Messenger Towers
JOPLIN, Mo. — A brief emergency inside Joplin's Messenger Towers was the result of a kitchen fire, the city said Wednesday. It happened just after 7:30 a.m. at the 14-story apartment building off 2nd and Main Street. Firefighters immediately made their way to the 11th floor amid dense, smoky conditions. METS and several other EMS personnel units were also on-scene to help evaluate residents, and fortunately, all were able to safely evacuate. The scene was cleared two hours after it was first called in. According to the Joplin Fire Marshal, the fire from the 11th-floor apartment was accidental.
