The MGM Grand in Las Vegas Just Got a $300-million Refresh—Take a First Look Inside

Months after word got out about the pending $300 million revamp to rooms and suites at the main tower of MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the first refreshed accommodations are ready for their debut. The full transformation, slated for completion by year's end, gives nod to the disco era without being overtly Studio 54 (think: crisp white linens to snuggle under vs. Bianca Jagger's white horse). While the Spring Mountains views remain the same, the Gensler-designed overhaul reimagines the iconic Las Vegas property with a bold palette balancing neutral tones with chambray, navy, and slate alongside walnut, eclectic carpeting and tailored headboards. MGM Resorts International When you're not basking in the fabulous 800-square-foot terrace of the MGM Terrace Suite, don't miss the astronaut décor in the foyer. Beyond the Terrace Suite, the overall remodel adds 111 new suites to the MGM Grand portfolio, bringing the resort's total to 753, and builds on previous upgrades to the 700-room Studio Tower, completed in 2022. Ranging from 675 to 2,572 square feet, the new suites aim to blend luxury with livability. Interiors also combine dark ebony with sheer roller shades, plush sectional sofas, and reimagined layouts that offer privacy, multi-use spaces, and elevated touches like quartz bathroom benches and illuminated mirrors. MGM Resorts International While there is ample couch space to spread out on to luxuriate in each of the new accommodations, it's best not to limit oneself to their luxe accommodations. The overhaul is just the start of a wave of new offerings at the storied Sin City casino resort. The renovation dovetails with other new experiences coming to MGM Grand, including Netflix Bites, a new dining concept inspired by hit Netflix shows, and Palm Tree Beach Club, a tropical day club from DJ Kygo's Palm Tree Crew. Bookings for the newly remodeled rooms officially open July 30. The remaining phases of the main tower remodel will roll out through the end of the year.

Tim Tszyu slams rugby players, influencers infiltrating boxing

Tim Tszyu has taken a dig at influencers and footy players infiltrating boxing, saying there's 'no need for the rugby players' in the sport. 'The Soul Taker's' comments come three days before his must-win rematch with Sebastian Fundora, and a mere hours after Paul Gallen's win over Sonny Bill Williams in Sydney. Tszyu is in the co-main event of a card to be headlined by the great Manny Pacquiao, and features a cast of fighters the Australian considers 'old school'. It's a far cry from ex-footy players stepping into the ring for a quick payday. It's also a long way removed from the artificial hype around former Disney star turned YouTuber Jake Paul, who has made a boxing career out of fighting washed up UFC fighters. Jake Paul (R) beat Julio Cesar Chavez. Picture: Tayfun Coskun/Anadolu via Getty Images 'It's good that this fight isn't influenced by influencers,' Tszyu said after completing his open workout in front of a huge crowd at the MGM Grand. 'It's influenced by proper boxers, and this is the Mecca. 'This is such a big boxing event, for pure boxers as well. 'There's eyeballs everywhere.' Asked to confirm whether he was talking about Jake Paul, who most recently scored an uninspiring decision win over faded former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Tszyu quipped. 'Yeah, and rugby players,' he told CODE Sports. 'No need for the rugby players.' Paul Gallen did enough to beat Sonny Bill Williams. Picture: Ayush Kumar/EurasiaAfter a decade of waiting, Gallen outpointed Williams on Wednesday night in a controversial decision that may have settled their beef, but didn't live up to any great heights in terms of skill. It was also widely panned for being contested over two-minute rounds, rather than the customary three minutes, despite each of the former Premiership winners banking an estimated $1 million. Tszyu was fast asleep at his Las Vegas Air BnB when the bout went down and didn't watch. 'I couldn't even watch highlights of it,' he said. 'I didn't watch it. 'But, good on em, they had a go and made some money out of it.' Tszyu worked out in front of a huge crowd at the MGM Grand. Picture: No Limit boxing Tszyu battled through his last weight cut in April, which came off the back of his wedding to longtime partner Alex – who celebrated her birthday in Las Vegas on Wednesday – and an overdue holiday, Tszyu is right on weight as the fight approaches. He's even been dining on an expensive high-protein dinner that he can't find in Australia. 'We've been getting this mad Chilean sea bass,' he said of the delicacy that can sell for a whopping $75 per kilogram. 'Apparently we don't have it at home, so I'm enjoying it. 'I'm right where I want to be, I'm not killing myself and I'm eating. I'm in a good position. 'Me and my chef, Omar, we've just been chilling at home. We've been playing backgammon, and it's my wife's birthday today, so happy birthday, Alex. Love you, baby!' Brendan Bradford Content producer Brendan Bradford is a sports writer for CODE Sports. Tszyu vs Fundora 2: Card rocked by world title medical emergency as Tszyu eyes history

Sixteen years after watching Manny Pacquiao fight Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand, Tim Tszyu is primed to become a two-time world champion at the very same venue in the co-main event to the Filipino legend. Tszyu hit the scales in phenomenal shape at 153.2 pounds for his WBC world title rematch with Sebastian Fundora (152.6 pounds), but the card was thrown into turmoil by the late withdrawal of Mexican star Angel Fierro. Fierro fell ill during his weight cut and was hospitalised just hours before he was due to weigh in for his highly anticipated rematch with Isaac Cruz. One of Mexico's biggest boxing stars, 'Pitbull' Cruz will now face Omar Salcido, who was scheduled to appear on the undercard. LIVE BLOG: Tim Tszyu v Sebastian Fundora Fundora and Tszyu face off. Picture: No Limit Boxing Meanwhile, Tszyu received one of the biggest cheers of the day when he stepped on the scales and motioned to his stomach, indicating a belt being strapped around his waist. 'WBC, the belt and I was just trying to vibe with the crowd,' Tszyu said just moments after he weighed in in front of a raucous crowd packed with Aussie, Filipino and Mexican boxing fans. 'It's pretty unreal to have that crowd and feel that energy. 'I understand why Manny comes back and does this over and over again. When you've got this every fight, it's hard just to kick back at home. Tszyu wraps the belt around his waist. Picture: No Limit Boxing 'I was sitting over there, just where the walk out is (when Pacquiao fought Cotto). That was a sick experience, now to be participating in it, it's unreal.' Tszyu was wearing a brand new necklace with the image of his beloved bulldog, Pablo, who recently needed surgery on a brain infection. 'He's the warrior,' he told Code Sports, while showing off the bling. 'The warrior.' Meanwhile, Pacquiao performed some mind games with Barrios, making the WBC welterweight champion wait four-and-a-half minutes on stage before showing up. Jeff Horn: Tszyu has power to knock out Fundora in Vegas rematch

He was the underdog Aussie who famously shocked Manny Pacquiao and now Jeff Horn has backed his one-time enemy Tim Tszyu to overcome his 'demons' and pull off another world-title ambush. The only man to have fought Pacquiao and Tszyu, Horn is well credentialed to assess the claims of both men, who will spearhead a blockbuster world-title card in Las Vegas on Sunday (AEST). Pacquiao faces Mario Barrios at age 46 for the WBC welterweight world title, while in the co-main, Tszyu will look to exact revenge in his super welterweight rematch against Sebastian Fundora at MGM Grand. Horn was hailed a national hero when he stunned Pacquiao in their world-title bout at Suncorp Stadium in 2017, only to be dethroned three years later by Tszyu, who dismantled 'The Hornet' in Townsville. Tszyu became the new poster boy for Australian boxing when he beat Jeff Horn in 2020. Picture: Alix Sweeney Tszyu became the new poster boy for Australian boxing after that win and Horn says his successor can use the scar tissue of his loss to Fundora last year to exact revenge on the 'Towering Inferno'. 'I think Tim has a lot of demons in his mind,' said Horn, the former WBO welterweight world champion who never fought again after losing to Tszyu in 2020. 'But those demons can bring out the best in Tim. 'He has experienced the best in the world and that's a good thing in a way, because he has been in the fire. 'Tim now knows what it can be like at the top level and I know he never wants to be in that position again. 'Tim underestimated Murtazaliev but he is a smart fighter and he won't make the same mistakes. 'Tim was on top of Fundora early in their first fight, I thought he was going to stop him easily until got unlucky with that massive head cut. Horn shocked the world with his defeat of Manny Pacquiao in 2017. 'He just has to box smart and I can see him chopping Fundora down to become a world champion again.' Horn is proof the vanquished can hit back and win a rematch. Two years after upsetting Pacquiao, Horn suffered a devastating ninth-round TKO loss to Michael Zerafa in Bendigo, but recovered four months later to win their Brisbane rematch by majority decision. Like Tszyu, Horn battled a bloodied face to pummel the 'Pretty Boy' and the Queenslander says the son of Kostya can take a leaf from his comeback book. 'I beat Zerafa in a rematch and I hope Tim can see you can come back from a loss,' Horn said. 'After losing to Zerafa, it gave me more grit and I pushed myself harder to get that win. 'Timmy can take what I've done in my career, have a different mindset for the rematch and thrive on what happened. 'He has to just forget that loss to Fundora and not let it affect him mentally.' Horn believes Tszyu has the power to knockout Sebastian Fundora. Now 37, Horn said he was surprised by Tszyu's strength in their showdown in Townsville and believes the 'Soul Taker' has the power to knockout Fundora. 'I didn't think Tim would be as good as he was,' said Horn, who was stopped in the eighth round by Tszyu. 'That was the fight I really underestimated. 'I thought I would be able to go in there and manhandle Tim, like I did with Manny, but I wasn't able to use my physical size at all. 'He simply outboxed me and Tim's power was good enough to put me away. 'If Tim is careful early and not reckless, he has the power to stop Fundora and depending on the way he wins, he could even unify the super welterweight division.'
