JSW MG Motor India is expanding its EV Market Share in CY 2025
New Delhi – As per the month-on-month market share data, JSW MG Motor India maintained its remarkable growth in the electric vehicle (EV) segment through the H1, 2025. The brand started strong, hitting 28% in January, experiencing a dip to 24% in February due to production constraints in Halol, but then rising to 31% in March and 33% in April to further strengthen its efforts in the EV industry, further enhancing its leadership in the EV sector. For the month of May & June, the brand maintained a robust momentum at a strong 32%. Growth has come from strong customer reception of the MG Windsor and impressive sales of Comet EV and ZS EV. The prices of the MG ZS EV were recently slashed, making it even more appealing for e-SUV enthusiasts. MG distinguishes itself in the highly competitive electric vehicle market through a strategic blend of advanced technology, reliable real-world range, and competitive pricing. This combination delivers outstanding value and performance, positioning MG as a leading choice in the EV segment for discerning buyers seeking both innovation and affordability. June ‘25 car sales: Maruti retains top despite decline, how others performed
June 2025 car sales. India's passenger vehicle market saw a mixed bag in June 2025 as leading carmakers posted varied sales results. While Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the charts, it reported a noticeable year-on-year decline. Meanwhile, Mahindra and Toyota saw positive growth, and other brands like Skoda and Kia posted strong performances during the first half of the year. It is important to note that Kia and Skoda had not released their monthly sales figures at the time this story was filed. Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 1,67,993 units in June 2025, registering a 6% drop compared to the same month last year. Its domestic sales declined by 15%, down to 1,21,339 units from 1,39,918 units in June 2024. Exports also fell slightly, although the company's OEM supply to Toyota Kirloskar Motor inched up to 8,812 units from 8,277 a year ago. Hyundai Motor India sold 60,924 vehicles in June, with 44,024 units going to the domestic market and 16,900 units exported. SUVs remained the brand's strength, contributing over 67% of its domestic sales. Tata Motors witnessed a dip in performance with total domestic dispatches dropping to 65,019 units, a 12% decline from 74,147 units in June last year. The company also exported 2,634 vehicles, marking a slight improvement from June 2024's 2,597 units. Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported a 5% increase in June 2025 sales, with 28,869 units sold compared to 27,474 units in June last year. This growth was supported by continued demand for its SUV and MPV offerings. Honda Cars India reported modest figures, with total sales at 5,124 units in June. Of these, 4,618 units were sold domestically while 506 units were exported.

While initially the CUV was launched with a smaller 38 kWh battery pack, later in May 2025 the Windsor Pro was launched with a larger battery pack measured at 52.9 kWh battery pack. The carmaker has announced the new variant had clocked 8,000 bookings within 24 hours of its launch in May 2025. The carmaker stated that in addition to metros, there is a strong demand for the MG Windsor EV from emerging markets as well, with non-metros constituting almost 48 per cent of its total sales. Moreover, the MG Windsor has been recognized with more than 30 awards, including the most coveted Green Car Award 2025 by iCOTY. MG Windsor EV: Prices The MG Windsor EV was the brand's first offering with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, helping drop prices for the electric crossover by a significant margin. This has helped the automaker package the offering competitively. While with the BaaS package, the MG Windsor EV is priced between ₹ 10 lakh and ₹ 13.10 lakh for the top end Essence Pro, the outright purchase prices for the Windsor EV range is between ₹ 14 lakh to ₹ 18.10 lakh, ex-showroom. Up front, it features a split lighting design with LED daytime running lights and projector headlights, as well as an illuminated MG logo. The side profile of the car features flowing lines, large windows and alloy wheels, as well as a blacked-out pillar on certain trims, giving it a floating roof look. At the rear of the car, connected LED tail lights and a roof spoiler and a raked rear window add to the styling design. MG Windsor EV: Specifications MG Windsor EV is powered by a 38 kWh battery pack across all the variants. The electric powertrain churns out 134 bhp peak power and 200 Nm of maximum torque. The EV promises up to 331 kilometre range on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Pro variants get the larger 52.9 kWh battery pack which is claimed to provide a range of 449 km on a single charge.
