Raphe mPhibr raises $100 million in landmark defence drone funding round
In a major boost to India's indigenous defence tech sector, drone manufacturer Raphe mPhibr has secured $100 million in fresh funding, marking the largest private fundraise in the country's drone industry to date, The Times of India reported. The round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Think Investments, Amal Parikh, and several family offices. With this, the total capital raised by the company has reached $145 million. Drones made by Raphe mPhibr were deployed during the recent Operation Sindoor in May. The new funding will be used to scale up Raphe mPhibr's end-to-end capabilities in aircraft design, engineering, and production. The company plans to enhance its facilities to better meet India's growing demand for homegrown aerospace technologies, the news report said. 'This funding is more than an investment; it is a commitment to build in India what the country can no longer afford to import,' the company said in a statement, aligning its mission with the government's Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. Vikash is an MIT-trained aerospace engineer with past experience at Idaho National Laboratory and CERN, while Vivek holds a PhD from Georgia Tech and has worked extensively in bio-inspired algorithms and sensor networks. Expanding India's indigenous defence ecosystem The company operates a comprehensive aerospace manufacturing campus, staffed by over 600 employees and housing specialised departments in aerodynamics, structural mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and electronics. It claims to have logged over one million km of flight across its platforms and developed more than 100 unique intellectual properties. Its manufacturing capabilities include facilities for metal processing, composite materials, engine development, and military-grade electronics, enabling it to build equipment that performs in extreme conditions — ranging from deserts to high-altitude mountains and marine environments.

Founded in New York's Hudson Valley by MIT-trained engineers Kristie and Eric D'Ambrosio-Correll, the fledgling brand is the first of its kind to be founded and led by a female CEO, as well as the first to have the confidence to command $500,000 (around £370,000 / AU$770,000) for a highly-personalized electric vehicle without hundreds of years worth of history to back it up. The price point is set as such because Dacora claims each vehicle is 'meticulously handmade' using American-sourced components and materials. The 1930s-inspired design, produced in collaboration with Italy's renowned Pininfarina Group, pays homage to the glamorous streamliners of Hollywood's Golden Age. Long hoods, shapely fenders and the option to specify real metal and hardwood inlays on the exterior are just a few of the stylistic talking points. Inside, you won't find any nasty plastics or cheap scratchy surfaces, as Dacora is only turning to natural wood, leather and woven wool for its interiors. As for performance, Dacora is yet to announce exact EV powertrain details, but says it is aiming for over 800hp and a projected 400-mile all-electric range. Former Cambridge city councilor faces kidnapping, intimidation charges after alleged incident at hotel

She alleged Mazen took her cell phone and refused to give it back, and pushed her away when she tried to retrieve it, according to the police report. When she tried to call police using a hotel phone, the woman said, Mazen threw the land-line phone, breaking a hotel window. Eventually, she alleged, she left and alerted hotel staff, who called police. The police report did not identify the woman but said she was known to Mazen. The report said she wasn't injured and declined medical attention. Before his arrest, police said in the report, an officer saw Mazen climbing a fence into an off-limits area and said his hand was bleeding. The report said he appeared highly agitated and that emergency responders sedated him and transported him to a hospital under the section of state law that allows for people to be treated involuntarily. He was arraigned the next day and charged with kidnapping, witness intimidation, malicious destruction of property over $1200, and misdemeanor assault and battery, according to court records. The charges were first reported in the Cambridge Civic Journal. Mazen, reached by phone Monday, declined to comment and referred a reporter to his lawyer.
