Kazipet RMU inching towards completion, says Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said that Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will inspect the long-awaited Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit (RMU) located in Warangal on Saturday. Addressing the media on Friday, he said the RMU, which has been a goal for regional stakeholders since the tenure of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, is now nearing completion, with over 70% of the construction finished. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the RMU, which is being constructed under his directives. A sanctioned budget of Rs 521 crore has been allocated, with an additional Rs 200 crore under consideration. The RMU will manufacture train engines, coaches, and wagons, dispelling earlier claims by the previous BRS government that its focus would be solely on cleaning wagons. This project is expected to create both permanent and contract-based employment opportunities, along with ancillary industries such as hospitality, transport, and training centers around the unit. He said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav is scheduled to visit Kazipet on Saturday at 1:30 PM to personally assess the progress. He said production is expected to commence early next year. Additional infrastructure initiatives include the Center's push to establish a mega textile park in Warangal, making it an industrial counterpart to Hyderabad. Reddy reiterated that while the Central Government is proactive, successive state governments have not matched this enthusiasm, particularly concerning the proposed airport in Warangal, which is still awaiting land acquisition. Former Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia engaged directly with the state, but progress has stalled. The Center has completed half of the Warangal Ring Road, with the remaining portion pending collaboration from the state government. In terms of rail connectivity, efforts have been made to expand the MMTS Phase-2, inaugurated by PM Modi, and construction has begun on a new railway station at Komuravelli, which is set to open by January in honor of Mallanna Swamy. Further modernization of Telangana's rail network includes an allocation of Rs 720 crore for upgrading Secunderabad station, along with developments at Nampally and Kacheguda stations, and a women-managed Begumpet station. Thirty-seven stations are already under development and are expected to be completed by June. In total, 40 stations are planned for transformation, integrating local culture into their design.

Centre committed to development of railway infra in TG: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister Kishan Reddy expressed pride in announcing that only women employees will be serving at the newly renovated Begumpet Railway Station, which has been transformed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Speaking ahead of the virtual inauguration of the station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, he highlighted that this occasion coincides with the 300th birth anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai. He said that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the railway system across the country is rapidly developing. Currently, 1,300 railway stations have been undergoing development simultaneously in India, an unprecedented feat. 'In Telangana, 40 railway stations are also being developed concurrently. By 2026, these stations will be designed to reflect the local culture and heritage. The Secunderabad Railway Station is receiving an investment of Rs 720 crore for its development. Additionally, the Central Government has allocated Rs. 100 crore for the development of Nampally (Hyderabad) Railway Station, with a total allocation of Rs 350 crore. 'We anticipate reopening these two stations next year. In Telangana, Rs 5,337 crore is being invested in railway development, with ongoing works amounting to Rs 42,219 crore.' Prime Minister Modi has also sanctioned the construction of Komuravelli Railway Station, with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performing the ground-breaking ceremony. This station will be dedicated to the devotees of Komuravelli Mallanna during this year's Dussehra festival. Kishan Reddy noted that there had been a delay of 6 to 7 years in the MMTS Phase-2 project due to the previous government's negligence. Despite the lack of support from the state government, the construction of MMTS Phase-2 has commenced under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, with an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore. Work for MMTS has also been sanctioned for Yadagirigutta, which will commence soon with Rs 400 crore allocated. The Central Government is introducing 'Kavach' technology across 617 km in Telangana as a pilot project to prevent railway accidents. 'Up to now, 121 unmanned level crossings have been removed, and 203 new road under bridges, 43 railway over bridges (ROBs), and 45-foot over bridges have been constructed.' Kishan Reddy, without naming the BRS executive president, and former Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, contended that the former minister criticises development projects on Twitter, and urged him to understand the facts. Additionally, high-speed WiFi has been set up at 174 stations, along with 88 stalls. Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for a railway manufacturing unit in Kazipet, with an investment of Rs 580 crore.

Centre to invest 80,000 crore in railways in Telangana, says Kishan Reddy

1 2 3 Hyderabad: Union minister for coal and mines, G Kishan Reddy, on Thursday announced that Telangana has been receiving special attention from the Centre in railway development, with plans to invest Rs 80,000 crore in the sector in the coming days. Participating in the virtual inauguration of Begumpet, Warangal, and Karimnagar railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme — led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi — Kishan highlighted ongoing railway projects worth approximately Rs 42,000 crore in the state. "Telangana is witnessing a shift in railway infrastructure with a 20-fold increase in the railway budget, the sanctioning of 40 Amrit stations, 100% rail electrification, and the laying of a record 346 km of new rail lines," he said. The newly modernized stations are designed to cater to passenger needs for the next 30–40 years. "We are redeveloping Secunderabad railway station with Rs 720 crore and have also commenced work on Nampally and Kacheguda stations. All redeveloped stations will be ready by next year. Komuravelli Railway Station will be operational by Dasara," Reddy stated. He also noted that the Centre had advanced local transportation by initiating MMTS Phase-2, even without state government support. During the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony for various development projects worth Rs 26,000 crore in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Modi emphasized Telangana's historical significance in railway infrastructure. "Begumpet railway station is inspired by the architecture of the Kakatiya empire," he said, adding that Amrit Bharat Stations not only preserve India's heritage but also boost tourism across states. Modi further noted that over 1,300 railway stations nationwide were undergoing modernization to enhance the passenger experience. Among them, 103 stations across 86 districts — developed at a cost of Rs 1,100 crore — were inaugurated on Thursday. Meanwhile, state R&B minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy urged the railways to expedite the MMTS Phase-II extension up to Yadadri, facilitating suburban commuters visiting the temple. SCR general manager Arun Kumar Jain revealed that 119 stations had been identified for redevelopment across the SCR jurisdiction.
