Martyred Jawan's body reaches Andhra Pradesh's Sathya Sai village
ANANTAPUR: The mortal remains of Army Jawan M Murali Naik were brought to his native village Kalli Thanda in Gorantla mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district at 10 pm on Saturday. The last rites of the Jawan martyred during 'Operation Sindoor' in Kashmir, will be performed with official honours on Sunday morning. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and several other Ministers will visit Kalli Thanda on Sunday to pay homage to Murali Naik. The body reached Bangalore airport around 2 pm, and from there it was taken to his native place by road in a procession. A large number of people participated in the procession. People also congregated at road junctions in large numbers to offer tributes to the martyred Jawan, and it took several hours to reach his native village Kalli Thanda. BC Welfare Minister S Savitha took part in the procession from Bengaluru to his residence. Several people's representatives from the erstwhile combined Anantapur district also joined the procession from Kodikonda check post to Murali Naik's native village.

Martyred jawan's mortal remains reach his village, final rites to be held today
Tirupati: The mortal remains of martyred soldier M Murali Naik reached his native village Kalli Thanda, under Gorantla mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district in Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday evening. The final rites of the soldier, who was killed in cross-border shelling from Pakistan near Uri sector in Jammu on Friday, will be held on (25), who was the only son of Sriram Naik and Jyoti Bai (who worked as a construction worker and domestic help in Mumbai, respectively), joined the Indian Army in Oct 2022 and was recently posted at Uri, where he sacrificed his life while trying to protect the nation's borders. His mortal remains were flown to Bengaluru airport and shifted to his native village from there by road. Scores of people from different walks of life joined the procession of the martyred soldier from Gummayyagari Palli junction to his Kalli Thanda residence. His parents were inconsolable upon seeing the body of their son wrapped in the tricolour. They remembered that Murali had come home for Sankranti festival and stayed with them for 15 days. "On Thursday night, moments before he laid down his life on the line of duty, he had called and enquired about our well being. He also informed us that firing from Pakistani forces had intensified," they recalled, as tears rolled down their Sathya Sai district SP V Rathna reviewed the security arrangements for the final rites of Murali to be carried out at his native village on Sunday. She informed that deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan, home minister Vangalapudi Anitha, HRD minister Nara Lokesh, and a few Union ministers will attend his final procession and pay their tributes to the martyred soldier. The final rites will be held with state and military honours at 12 noon on Sunday.

M Murali Naik spoke to his parents on a video call at around 8am on Thursday MUMBAI:/TIRUPATI: Parents of 23-year-old M Murali Naik, who was killed in the cross-border firing at the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K at 3am on Friday, were devastated after receiving news of their son's death. "We are proud that he was martyred while protecting the country, but as parents, we have paid a huge price. He was our only child and we have lost him," said Murali's father, Shriram, who moved to Mumbai 30 years ago in search of a better livelihood and lives in Ghatkopar's Kamraj Nagar with his wife Jyoti. Murali spoke to his parents on a video call at around 8am on Thursday. "He had just returned from duty and was still in his uniform. He said he had to go back in the evening. We asked him if he had had his breakfast and that was the last time we saw his face," said Shriram. After hearing the news of his shooting, his parents fainted. The neighbourhood in Kamraj Nagar was in mourning on Friday after learning that Murali had been shot at during the cross-border firing and died while being shifted to the hospital. Laxman Naik, his maternal uncle, said he was selected as an Agniveer-among the first batch of the central govt recruitment scheme for armed forces.

Soldier from Andhra Pradesh, 2 civilians killed in Pakistan firing at LoC
An Army jawan and two civilians were killed in heavy shelling by Pakistan across the LoC in different sectors of J&K on Thursday night. Armyman M Murali Naik, 23, from Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, was shot in the cross-border firing and died while being taken to hospital. A woman in Uri sector of Kashmir and a man in Poonch district of Jammu were killed, and at least six other civilians injured. At least six other civilians were injured and a large number of houses were damaged as Pakistani troops intensified artillery and mortar fire along the LoC. Officials said the firing by Pakistan attracted befitting and effective response from Indian troops. Three members of a family were injured when a Pakistani artillery shell struck their SUV while they were fleeing home in Rajarwar village of Uri towards Baramulla. The shell tore through the roof of their vehicle when they reached Mohurra, around three km from Rajarwar, fatally injuring 45-year-old Nargis Bano. Her death is the first reported civilian casualty in Kashmir Valley.
