Dentist, 53, called himself 'daddy' in depraved messages to 13-year-old girl
Steven MacMillan, 53, of Dalkeith, Midlothian, has been jailed after sending sick sexual messages to a 13-year-old girl which were eventually found by the child's mother A dentist bombarded a teenage girl with depraved sexual messages calling himself "daddy" and telling her "good girls do what they are told", a court heard. Steven MacMillan, 53, contacted the 13-year-old from Newcastle on social media where he told her he was a dentist from Scotland. The pair began to chat and she told him her age before the conversation became highly sexualised. She sent him an image of herself performing a sex act before he began sending her a string of sickening voice notes. In one message he told her: "When daddy asks you to do something you better do it or there will be trouble." And in another message he added: "Good girls do what they are told." The disturbing messages were discovered by the girl's mother who was left horrified when she had been in contact with MacMillan between February and March 2023. She contacted an online paedophile vigilante group who confronted him at his then home in Strathaven, Lanarkshire, and police were called in. MacMillan, now of Dalkeith, Midlothian, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted communicating indecently with the youngster who is now receiving counselling. Sheriff Colin Dunipace said there was no alternative to custody and he was jailed for 20 months as well as being placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years. Depute fiscal Scott O'Connor told the court: "The complainer's mother confiscated her phone and observed numerous Snapchat notifications from various users and noted a user called Steve and enquired what she had been discussing. "The complainer confirmed she had been involved in sexual communication and the mother opened the account and noted the voice notes on the device. She was concerned for the complainer and contacted an online child safety team who later attended the accused's home where police were also contacted and arrested the accused." The court was played eight voice notes where MacMillan made vile sexual remarks towards the girl. Alan Gravelle, defending, said: "Plainly the custodial threshold has been crossed standing the age of the victim and the graphic content of the communication. "Many aspects of this case are difficult to rationalise and in many respects it remains inexplicable that he should fall into this two-week period of offending when he had the stability of lifestyle including marriage and children, a successful academic career that then turned into a successful professional career and the financial stability that comes with it." Sheriff Dunipace told MacMillan: "The content of the communication was graphic and disturbing and they could leave no-one who heard them in any doubt of your intention when engaging with this child and hearing those conversations was harrowing and chilling. "This was not a one-off but a part of a premeditated and sustained course of conduct where you sought to deprive her of her innocence for your depraved gratification." The sheriff said it was 'tragic' to see someone like MacMillan in the dock but added that he had a 'duty to protect' youngsters and jail was the only option to deter others from similar offending. MacMillan, who qualified in 1995, has been suspended from working in dentistry by regulators since March 2023 and will remain suspended until at least December 31 this year. But it is likely he will be struck off by the General Dental Council (GDC) after he admitted his sickening crimes.

Now we can also report his dentistry company Steven MacMillan BDS Ltd, which was based in Strathaven, Lanarkshire, is being liquidated. And accounts show he has a Trust Deed in place to pay back £45,000 to creditors. Documents also show the sicko tried to avoid repaying a £37,500 director's loan. A family member then had to step in to help him. Official papers state: 'The joint liquidators contacted the director and requested repayment in full. "An initial offer of £12,400 was received from Steven MacMillan. 'This was declined. The director provided information he is subject to a Trust Deed with debts of £45,000 and his monthly expenditure prevents him making repayments toward the balance. 'Following this a third party (a family member acting on behalf of the director) submitted a final offer of £20,988, representing 65 per cent of the outstanding director's loan account. This was accepted.' MacMillan, now of Dalkeith, Midlothian, pled guilty in May at Hamilton Sheriff Court to communicating indecently with the child in 2023 after contacting her on Snapchat. Vile Scots dentist snared by paedo hunters caught enjoying luxury Costa getaway before sentencing

MacMillan appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court earlier this month, where he pleaded guilty to communicating indecently with the girl between February and March 2023. But there were no bail restrictions placed on him travelling, which means the paedophile dentist has been brazenly jetting out to the sunny Costa Blanca where he has been golfing, relaxing and socialising, despite being on the sex offenders register. A source told The Scottish Sun: 'Locals are up in arms at the fact that he's been so brazen in coming over and cockily carrying on as though nothing has happened. 'He's been the talk of the community ever since the initial sting. We can't believe he's been allowed to come out here and mix freely with kids in bars and swimming pools. 'While others' lives have been shattered thanks to his depraved actions, MacMillan appears to be brazenly sticking two fingers up to the Scottish legal system. 'It's winding people up the way he's swanning round without a care in the world. It really is disgraceful.' It is understood he has been banned from visiting the communal pool in the laid-back expat community where his mum and dad stay. But last week, shameless MacMillan, of Dalkeith, Midlothian, was spotted enjoying a round of golf at the luxury Campoamor Resort in Orihuela Costa where his name was listed as a tournament player. He was also seen loitering topless on his balcony before smiling and chatting with his buddies on the sun-drenched fairways. Disgraced paedo lawyer rubs shoulders with MPs at key legal meeting - after being exposed as sick pervert It is also understood that the sicko has been learning Spanish and has plans to move to the country in the future. But MacMillan faces potentially being jailed when he returns to Scotland for sentencing. The court previously heard MacMillan and the girl, of Newcastle, chatted before she sent him an image of herself performing a sex act. He then began sending her a string of sickening voice notes. In one message, MacMillan told her: 'When daddy asks you to do something you better do it or there will be trouble.' The disturbing messages were discovered by the child's horrified mother. Members of a vigilante group then confronted him at his former home in Strathaven, Lanarkshire, and cops were alerted. After pleading guilty he was put on the sex offenders register and bailed. He has been suspended from working in dentistry by regulators since March 2023. MacMillan will be sentenced next month.

What Motherwell chairman saw in Jens Berthel Askou
All at Fir Park were rocked by the shock departure of Michael Wimmer at the end of last season due to family reasons, and MacMillan was as disappointed as any other Motherwell supporter that the journey the German had set them on had seemed to end so abruptly. He was determined though that the new man in the dugout would be someone who would be willing and able to pick up where Wimmer left off, and implement the aggressive style that he wants Motherwell to be known for. Having whittled down a huge list of prospective candidates to land on then FC Copenhagen assistant manager Berthel Askou, he is certain the club have got the right man to do just that. Speaking on the 'Well Society's 'Our Club, Our Podcast', MacMillan said: 'We want to be ambitious, and we make no secret of that. I'd love to see Motherwell winning the cup again. 'I'm not promising anyone that is going to happen next season, don't misunderstand me, but there's nothing wrong with having that ambition and we want the manager to feel that too. (Image: Craig Foy - SNS Group) 'I don't want to be in a conversation where we're just feeling that we need to low block constantly and try to navigate other teams. It's about how we impose ourselves, and you need to have a bit of confidence about you to do that. And I think he's got that. Read more: 'There were about 100 applications that came in for the role, and some really good ones as well. 'We were pretty clear that the style of football, that journey we had been on with Michael, was really positive. 'So, first of all, it was right, what profiles do we think are aligning with that, what profiles do we think will allow us to continue on that journey and not have to kind of rip it up and start again? 'From there, there was an automatic sifting process for some of the profiles, and from there we do a kind of deeper dive into them. 'There are data analysis sets that are created by an external body that allows us to dig in a little bit more to their stats in terms of PPDA, xG and all these sorts of things, that allows us to see if this is a manager who plays on the front foot and doesn't just talk like that, he enacts it on the pitch. 'We go through that process, and ultimately Jens came through a contact and landed in my phone. So, it wasn't one of the initial applications that came through the emailing the club type of route. 'There is a lot of that, a lot of things that get done through network, and that's probably been a bit of a learning curve for me over the past few months as well, and building and growing that network is really important, for sure. 'We went through that process, and ultimately we landed on Jens. There were some really good people in there, but ultimately I think we found a good guy.' As well as his preferred style of play, MacMillan found that Berthel Askou's values in terms of hard work and discipline – both on and off the pitch – aligned with those the board are trying to implement within the team and within the club. 'I think he's a very honest character,' he said. (Image: GordonTerris/Herald&Times) 'Probably in terms of the Danish aspect, there's a no-nonsense, tell it like it is type of style, and we really like that. There's no beating around the bush, you get what you get, which we really liked. 'He likes to play football on the front foot, which is really important, press high up the pitch and be aggressive in terms of how we equip ourselves on the pitch. That style is going to continue, for sure. 'I think the fitness aspect for us is something we want to continue with the players as well. That leads into the profiles that we bring into the club too. 'One of the things we've been quite focused on, and that was coming through with Michael too, was how do we get the stats of the players up to a level that we feel they are able to leave everything on the pitch? 'It's a really boring stat, but most teams on average will run about 95 -98 kilometres over the 90 minutes between the 10 outfield players, and ultimately what Michael was working to - and it will be similar with Jens - is getting that to 105-110 kilometres, because ultimately what that means is that if you run that extra 10 percent, you have an extra man around the ball. 'So, again, that was what we wanted to see from the profile we brought into the club. High energy, and we'll see where that takes us. "But it's exciting for sure.'
