Photo: BackpagePix Image: BackpagePix Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has urged Relebohile Mofokeng not to entertain any offers from Israeli clubs as the demand for the youngster grows. Two weeks ago, it was reported that Israeli clubs Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa had reached out to Orlando Pirates with the view of making an offer for the 20-year-old sensation. As a result, they were reportedly given a price of around R31 million to get the deal done. But Josephs, who spent five years at Pirates and also played at the 2010 World Cup in the country, has voiced his concerns about Mofokeng moving to Israel. 'We want the best for our players, and if they move on, they must move on to something better,' Josephs, currently the goalkeeper coach of the Kenya national team, said on the SoccerBeat podcast. He went on to pour cold water on the claim that the move would be good for Mofokeng as the club plays in Europe. 'Don't tell me about the Champions League, these teams that are chasing him are Maccabi Haifa and Tel Aviv, those are the whipping boys of the Champions League,' he continued. 'Rele (Mofokeng) is a star, and stars go to the big leagues. These agents mustn't be greedy because of money and say, 'he is going overseas.' No, there's a difference overseas. 'So, send our boy to a safe zone. Send our boy to a place where he can grow. 'That's where we want him to go, and if he doesn't go, we will hold on to him here with no problem, and he is still very young.' Could Rele Mofokeng be heading to America? FC Cincinnati enter race for Orlando Pirates star

Rele on the move? Major Soccer League club FC Cincinnati have joined the race to sign Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng. Photo: BackpagePix Major Soccer League outfit FC Cincinnati have reportedly become the latest club to register an interest in signing Orlando Pirates' 20-year-old sensation Relebohile Mofokeng. According to Soccer Laduma, the American club has become a serious contender for the services of Mofokeng, who is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects to come out of South Africa in a long time. This follows news that Israeli clubs Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv are also interested. Last week, it was reported that Maccabi Haifa had approached Pirates to enquire about the player and were told they needed to cough up R31 million. However, with the volatile situation in the Middle East, Mofokeng is unlikely to make the move, leaving the United States as a strong possibility.

Orlando Pirates superstar attracts interest from MLS side!

Orlando Pirates are in the process of revamping their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season with ins and outs. Pirates will be heading off to Spain once again this pre-season and their squad could look very different from 2024. The club have reportedly already signed nine players, which could mean nine new faces from the previous trip. Only one of those players has been announced by the club so far, that being the marquee capture of Sipho Mbule. The midfield wizard joins from Mamelodi Sundowns on a free transfer. Other Pirates signings include Kabelo Kgositsile, Masindi Nemtajela, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Tshepo Mashiloane, Sihle Nduli, Tshepang Moremi , Sinoxolo Kwayiba and Yanela Mbuthuma. The Sea Robbers are set to begin their pre-season on the 7th of July and all of those players are expected to be there. That list features quite a few attackers in Kgositsile, Moremi, Kwayiba and Mbuthuma. That could be a sign that Pirates are revamping their attack or preparing for potential exits. One player that is constantly linked with a move abroad is Relebohile Mofokeng. Earlier on Wednesday, this publication reported that the 20-year-old was the subject of a bold from Israel giants Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi Haifa have reportedly offered Pirates R31 million for Mofokeng's services. They are believed to be battling their rivals Maccabi Tel Aviv for his signature. But now, according to Soccer-Laduma , MLS side FC Cincinnati have also entered the race! 'The race to land the signature of Orlando Pirates sensation Relebohile Mofokeng has intensified, with Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit FC Cincinnati now reported to have entered the fray. However, Mofokeng continues to be a talking point in Israeli sports media as there's a growing list of admirers which now reportedly includes FC Cincinnati. The American club has emerged as a serious contender to lure the South African international to the United States.' Wrote the publication. Where would you rather see Mofokeng playing Pirates fans?
