11-year-old Maddison Lock from St Leonards saves mother's life twice

'My mum is in a lot of pain,' 11-year-old Maddison Lock tells emergency services, her little voice calm and steady as she saves her mother's life for the second time. The St Leonards girl was recognised on Wednesday as a Junior Triple Zero Hero for jumping into action when her mum, who has stage four breast cancer, fainted at home. 'It's really scary, but you have to suck it up and help out,' Maddison said. As well as dealing with the medical emergency before her, Maddison had to keep her brothers Ethan, 9, and Carson, 5, calm while they waited for help. On the other end of the line was triple-0 calltaker Raquel McSweeney. 'She's probably one of the calmest callers I've ever spoken to,' Ms McSweeney said. 'She followed all my directions. She was really good … She gave me all the medical history that the crew needed to know about. She was a bit of a champion. 'She made my job very easy.' Maddison's mother Melissa Evans was diagnosed with cancer in May 2020 and has undergone aggressive treatments, including a new 'cocktail of chemo'. 'I lost consciousness due to low blood pressure, due to some internal bleeding,' Ms Evans said. 'I'm a single mother and she's my eldest child and unfortunately, the responsibility was placed on to her to be able to make a phone call like this.' Maddison was recognised as a Junior Triple Zero Hero in 2023 for helping her mother on another occasion. 'This was the first time that I've lost consciousness. So completely unfamiliar territory on what to do, and she had to help with the younger brothers as well … they were absolutely hysterical in the background,' Ms Evans said. 'She did phenomenally. 'I'm extremely proud. I've overheard both the conversations now and the way that she just stayed so calm and didn't panic, didn't think twice about doing anything, it was just absolutely amazing.' Also awarded today from the Geelong region was Jaxon Gliddon who sprang into action in September last year after his grandfather fell from a roof. 'I was bringing a parcel around to my Pa, and then I saw him on the floor just with a massive hole in his head,' Jaxon said. At just 12 years of age, the Lara boy knew what to do, calling triple-0 and helping his Nan to control the bleeding until help arrived. 'It could have been a lot worse without Jaxon, that's for sure,' grandfather Ron McCullagh said. 'He was very good, very calm, collected … I'm still very proud of Jackson.' Jaxon and Maddison were among 19 Junior Triple Zero Heroes honoured today at a ceremony in Melbourne. Minister for Emergency Services Vicki Ward praised the recipients for their quick thinking under challenging circumstances. 'These Victorians show you're never too young to be a hero. While we'd all hope kids never have to make the call, it's important that caregivers have the conversation with them on what to do in an emergency – it could save a life.' Triple Zero Victoria CEO Deb Abbott said: 'Each young hero deserves commendation for their quick thinking, focus, and readiness to follow instructions when faced with a potentially life-threatening scenario.' How to upholster a headboard on a budget
Q . I want to do a bedroom makeover for my young daughter and love the idea of upholstering a new headboard. Is there a cost-effective way of achieving this? Maddison, Orpington A. Working on TV makeover shows, I've learnt that upholstering can create maximum effect on a minimal budget. To start, you need a board to which you can attach your fabric. I recommend a sheet of 18mm MDF, which you can get cut at a timber yard or DIY store for free. A standard headboard is typically the width of your mattress, with a height of approximately 70cm. If you have the tools and skills, I would use a jigsaw to cut a curve around the top corners, softening the edges and giving an on-trend look.

But it has since been axed from Euro 2028 due to funding issues and Northern Ireland will no longer be a host nation. Despite that, redevelopment of Casement Park is still going ahead and the government have confirmed that they are making a £50million contribution to the project. But there is still a £90m shortfall as Stormont chiefs and the Gaelic Athletic Association can only find £120m of the £260m required. Casement Park shut down in 2013 and has since been left abandoned. Incredible photos show the stands rotting and the pitch overgrown. The ground welcomed 31,000 supporters back in its pomp for hurling and Gaelic football matches. JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS The derelict site has received planning permission to be modernised and early demolition work has begun. But some have called for the proposed design to be axed to allow for a cheaper build to be made. Northern Ireland currently play their home games at the 18,500-seater Windsor Park. Uefa require all grounds for major tournaments to be able to hold 30,000 fans. The Irish FA have ruled out expanding Windsor Park.

James Maddison already shares three children with partner Kennedy Alexa and now the Tottenham star has announced a second set of twins are on the way during an emotional post while on holiday Tottenham star James Maddison has announced he and partner Kennedy Alexa are expecting a second set of twins, as they prepare to welcome a fourth and fifth child. The England international already has three children, son Leo - born in 2021 - and twins Delilah and Rome, who arrived back in 2023. Now Maddison's girlfriend Alexa has declared "bring on the chaos" as she posted an emotional video of the entire family on the beach while on holiday, holding baby scan photos and revealing her bump. Maddison himself is then seen writing "twins again" in the sand alongside another message that said: "Maddison twins part 2". The odds of conceiving twins twice are thought to be around one in 50,000. The playmaker posted the video on his Instagram story to his two million followers, with the caption: "Huge surprise to share with you all..." The clip was liked by a number of his Tottenham team-mates, with Dominic Solanke writing: "Beautiful chaos!" while Pedro Porro and Mickey van de Ven both replied with heart in eyes emojis. Meanwhile, England team-mates Jordan Henderson also wrote a message on the post, saying: "Congrats sheriff," while Jack Grealish said: "Congrats both. Unbelievable." Alexa had only just celebrated Father's Day with Maddison as she shared another moving post hailing her partner. She said: "Happy Father's Day to the most incredible daddy!!! Me and the kids are so lucky to have you. So lucky we get to watch these little babies grow together. We love you so much." It comes during a memorable period for Maddison, who won the first trophy of his Tottenham career last month after lifting the Europa League after a famous 1-0 win over Manchester United. Alexa was there to see his triumph, despite Maddison being injured for the game, as she joined him for the pitchside celebrations and posted a picture of the pair smiling with his winners' medal. She wrote: "What a wild ride! Words cannot express how proud I am of @madders & the team Day we will never forget, you make us so proud!!! COYS." Maddison has been dating model Alexa since 2020 before first child Leo arrived a year later.
