Sam Thompson reveals he has had an 'uncomfortable' year after Zara McDermott split

Former Made In Chelsea man Sam Thompson has revealed he has had an 'uncomfortable' year after his split from girlfriend of five years, Zara McDermott Sam Thompson has admitted his year to date has been "uncomfortable". He confession comes seven months after he and Zara McDermott announced their five-year relationship was over. ‌ The former Made In Chelsea star, 32, said sometimes such a difficult period can "shock" someone into changing their lifestyle. And that's what he has now revealed has happened in 2025. ‌ In his latest appearance on best pal Pete Wicks ' Man Made podcast, Sam candidly reflected on his year of change. "'It's such a weird one because I still look to people for help all the time," he said in a preview clip of the episode. ‌ In the clip Sam continued: "I look to you, if I'm ever in a problem, I'll call you, I'll call Marvin, I'll call Tony, I'll call Ryan, my brother-in -law, I'll call Louise. "I have a lot of people who I depend on and as much as I love that, I still feel inside like I'm not quite at the place where I can take care of myself." ‌ When former TOWIE man Pete then asked his mate if he believed asking for help or relying on others made him "less of a man," Sam added: "Asking for help, no. I think I lean a little bit too heavily into the depending." However, Sam did admit he now feels as though he is depending on himself a lot more following his impressive UNICEF challenge. It saw him transport the official Soccer Aid ball from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford by foot and by bike over the course of five days. His efforts in the 260-mile challenge raised a huge £1,516,433 for the charity. ‌ He said: "Putting yourself in uncomfortable situations and realising that you can handle uncomfortable situations. I mean, this year, there's been one big uncomfortable situation […] I feel like you need a bad year or not bad year but an uncomfortable year to change who you are as a person. "You need almost like a shock to put you into sort of like a new phase of your life." ‌ It comes after Sam and Zara confirmed their split at the turn of the year. While Sam has found himself connected to different stars, including Love Island alum Samie Elishi, he is thought to currently be single. Zara, meanwhile, has moved on with former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson. She recently shared a subtle nod to her new man in an online upload. She was seen wearing a dainty gold initial necklace. While neither Zara or Louis directly confirmed nor denied their romance, eagle-eyed fans noticed that during a recent Instagram story, Zara was wearing a gold initial necklace around her neck, but rather than her own initials, it featured a dainty golden letter L instead.
