Renault Celebrates Production of Morocco's First Fully Electric Quadricycle

Rabat – The Renault factory in Tangier celebrated on Friday the production of the 2,000th Mobilize DUO, the first fully electric four-wheeled vehicle made in Morocco. The car is part of a newer category of small electric vehicles designed for city driving. A communication system developed by engineers in Morocco has been integrated into the vehicle, which is mainly intended for export to European markets. It was designed and assembled entirely by Moroccan talent, with engineering and production teams receiving over 8,000 hours of training in new skills related to electric mobility. The launch event saw the participation of Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, CEO of Mobilize Gianluca De Ficchy, and General Manager of Renault Group Morocco Mohamed Bachiri. Also present at the event was the President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region Omar Moro, Tangier Med CEO Mehdi Tazi Riffi, and other local officials and business leaders. The Mobilize DUO, fully electric and designed for city transport, is being built at a new assembly line inside the Tangier factory, which can produce up to 17,000 units per year. The line was specifically designed for fully electric vehicles and uses more advanced technology to meet these requirements. This project also allowed for the inclusion of a new group of Moroccan suppliers that specialize in electric vehicle components, helping them grow and boosting the local auto industry. Speaking at the ceremony, Mezzour said the factory, 'a leader in carbon neutrality and operational excellence, shows our shared commitment to developing Morocco's ability to innovate and adapt.' 'We are proud to witness the production of the 2,000th Mobilize DUO, the first 100% electric car made at Renault Tangier,' the minister said. He also commended Renault's progress, especially its integration of new suppliers, saying it strengthens Morocco's role as a strategic hub for electric mobility. Gianluca De Ficchy, CEO of Mobilize, said that his company aims to remove the barriers to electric mobility by offering financing, charging, and transport solutions that are accessible to all. 'The DUO is a result of our efforts to create urban transport that is safer, smarter, and more sustainable,' he added. Meanwhile, Renault Morocco's head, Mohamed Bachiri, said that the DUO project reflects the group's ongoing trust in the Moroccan industrial platform. The project is part of the broader momentum behind the Made in Morocco label, he stressed.

Ceramic Industry: Omar Chaabi Seizes APIC Leadership with Transformative Agenda

Doha – The Association of Ceramic Industry Professionals (APIC) enters a pivotal era with the unanimous election of Omar Chaabi as president. Industry leaders have rallied behind this choice, signaling a unified push to revitalize a sector with major growth potential. Chaabi, who has served as Executive Vice President of YNNA Holding since 2009, brings substantial industrial expertise to the position. His leadership extends across multiple prominent enterprises, where he holds board positions including the National Electrolysis and Petrochemical Company (SNEP) and GPC Carton. Within APIC, he represents SUPERCERAME, one of Morocco's foremost ceramic manufacturers. This top-level transition arrives at a decisive moment for the ceramic industry. The sector faces mounting challenges related to international competitiveness, environmental sustainability, and industrial sovereignty. This initiative will be developed through extensive consultation with industry operators and precisely tailored to address concrete market requirements. Key priorities include modernization of production facilities, aggressive promotion of Made in Morocco products, robust commercial defense mechanisms, and comprehensive skills enhancement for the sector's workforce. Chaabi's appointment follows the tenure of Mohammed Lacham, who laid the groundwork for renewed governance before retiring. Beyond his industrial leadership at YNNA Holding, one of Morocco's largest private employers and diversified conglomerates, Chaabi has demonstrated entrepreneurial vision by founding multiple businesses. His ventures include Le Cafe Josephine, Oasis212, and In 2018, he established Mooka Environnement as Founder and CEO. Throughout his career, Chaabi has led important corporate transformations, managed mergers and acquisitions, overseen successful IPOs, and implemented comprehensive sustainable development initiatives. His combined experience in turnaround management and strategic growth provides valuable perspective for APIC's revitalization efforts. Academically, Chaabi completed Harvard Business School's OPM program (2013–2015), building on his earlier marketing studies at the University of San Francisco (1995–1998). His philanthropic commitments include work with Fondation Miloud Chaabi, which impacts over 70,000 Moroccans annually, primarily through educational initiatives. Moroccan exporters embark on strategic trade mission to Egypt

The Moroccan Exporters' Confederation (ASMEX) has announced that a major delegation of Moroccan exporters will be visiting Cairo, Egypt, from May 3 to 5, in a trade mission. The goal is to strengthen commercial ties and explore new market opportunities in Egypt. The mission, initiated by Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira and led by ASMEX President Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi, is the result of a long-term strategic effort. According to a statement from the Confederation, the initiative—meticulously prepared and driven by ASMEX—demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting Made in Morocco products. Bringing together 35 business leaders from key export sectors, the mission follows a series of high-level exchanges with Egyptian authorities, which began in April with a visit from the Egyptian ambassador to ASMEX's headquarters. This was followed by the successful «Zoom Egypt» event, which offered participants valuable insights into the Egyptian market and how to access it. The momentum generated by these efforts, welcomed by business operators and widely reported in the media, reinforces ASMEX's pivotal role in advancing Morocco's export agenda and anticipating the needs of its productive sectors. Thanks to the ongoing leadership of its president, the Confederation continues to showcase its ability to mobilize, guide, and support Moroccan companies within a strategic partnership framework—far from any improvised approaches. In this regard, ASMEX emphasizes that the success of any trade mission depends on thorough preparation, the representativeness of the delegation—composed exclusively of exporters in this case—and clearly defined objectives.
