Holkar stadium to shine brighter with LED lights from Oct
Indore: The iconic Holkar stadium is all set to dazzle under a new lighting system as its old metal halide floodlights are being replaced with LED lights ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 in Oct. The upgrade is not just about brighter lights; it's a leap toward international standards, enabling features like instant illumination and dynamic DMX light shows, which were previously impossible at the venue. DMX light shows have become a popular attraction among spectators and are now a regular feature at major sporting events. For nearly two decades, the stadium operated with six high-mast floodlights powered by metal halide lamps, supported by synchronised diesel generator sets to avoid power interruptions. These lamps, which took up to 30 minutes to fully illuminate, are now making way for modern LED systems known for their superior energy efficiency, sharper focus, enhanced colour rendering, and immediate switch-on capability. "The floodlights are being replaced with LED systems to improve intensity, coverage, and quality. Tenders have been finalised and installation is underway. A BCCI inspection team has already reviewed the preparations," MPCA president Abhilash Khandekar told TOI. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo The new system will also allow the stadium to host DMX light shows, synchronised light displays often seen at high-profile international matches. While Gwalior's new stadium has already featured such shows during the Madhya Pradesh League, this will be a first for Holkar stadium, significantly enhancing the live experience for fans and broadcasters alike. Apart from the lighting upgrade, other improvements include repairs to damaged seating and minor civil renovations to ready the venue for the global tournament. Holkar stadium will host five matches during the ICC Women's World Cup: Australia vs New Zealand (Oct1), New Zealand vs South Africa (Oct 6), India vs England (Oct 19), Australia vs England (Oct 22), and Australia vs South Africa (Oct 25). The tournament will run from Sept 30 to Nov 2 across India, with Indore rejoining the international cricket circuit in style.

Madhya Pradesh League: Jabalpur Royal Lions hand Rewa Jaguars their first defeat with spirited 21-run win
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 21 (ANI): Jabalpur Royal Lions produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Rewa Jaguars by 21 runs in Match 16 of the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) 2025 at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium on Friday, ending Rewa's unbeaten streak in the tournament, according to an official MPL statement. Asked to bat first, Jabalpur got off to a shaky start, losing both openers early to a fiery spell from Saransh Surana. The Jaguars pacer struck twice in the powerplay to rattle the Lions' top order, the statement from MPL said. However, Siddharth Patidar held his ground and led the rebuilding phase with a resilient 51 off 36 balls, mixing caution with well-timed aggression. Just when he looked set to anchor deeper, Saransh struck again, completing a stellar four-wicket haul and putting Jabalpur under pressure. With the scoreboard reading a modest 117/6 in 16.1 overs, the Lions looked set for a total in the 160-170 range. But then came a stunning late flourish from Ritik Tada and Sanjog Singh. The duo unleashed a brutal assault in the final overs, stitching together an unbeaten 68-run partnership. Ritik blazed his way to 45 off 22 balls* at a strike rate of 204.5, while Sanjog hammered a quick 36 off 14 deliveries* at a strike rate of 257.1, propelling Jabalpur Royal Lions to a formidable 185/6. Chasing 186, Rewa Jaguars' opener Prithviraj Singh Tomar provided a steady start with a composed 52 off 41 balls, but the middle order crumbled under pressure. Despite a late fightback from Mukul Raghav, who remained unbeaten on 42 off 28 balls, Rewa fell short and finished at 164/6, conceding their first defeat of the season. The standout performer for Jabalpur with the ball was Pankaj Patel, who set the tone with figures of 4/36, earning him the Player of the Match award. Speaking after the match, Ritik Tada credited the finish to team awareness and pitch reading: "The plan was simple. We saw the wicket had moisture, and it was soft, so we initially thought 170 would be a good total. But after early wickets, we revised the aim to around 160. In the end, the finish went well and we managed to set a strong total." When asked about his approach at the crease, Ritik added: "The idea was to take some time and get set, because the wicket wasn't easy and the ball wasn't coming on. After 5-6 balls, I got a feel of the wicket and the bowler's strategy. I kept that in mind and capitalised on their mistakes." Ritik also reflected on his current focus during the tournament: "Right now, I'm focusing more on game awareness, understanding what the situation demands and responding accordingly." The victory marked a strong resurgence for Jabalpur Royal Lions, who had remained winless in their first three games of the season. With this result, they have now secured back-to-back wins, gaining crucial momentum as the league phase progresses. Please find below the schedule for Saturday, June 21 Match 18, Bundelkhand Bulls vs Jabalpur Royal Lions, 3:00 PM ISTMatch 19, Rewa Jaguars vs Indore Pink Panthers, 7:30 PM IST. (ANI)

Madhya Pradesh League a platform where young players get the opportunity to prove themselves, says Rewa Jaguars owner
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 8 (ANI): Rewa Jaguars owner Alok Birla believes the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) is a powerful platform for aspiring cricketers to showcase their talent at the big stage. The Madhya Pradesh League will begin on June 12 at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Shankarpur, Gwalior. With a vision that extends beyond just participation, Rewa Jaguars owners are focused on creating a franchise that nurtures players both on and off the field. 'I want to create a franchise where players are getting benefited both in terms of their livelihood and in terms of their opportunities, because my vision is not only to participate in MPL but at the same time give them personalised coaching and make them mentally and physically fit. So, my thought was always that if players stay with the franchise, then they can grow even more,' said Alok Birla, owner of Rewa Jaguars, as quoted by the MPL press release. 'In life everybody wants to have an opportunity where they want to showcase their talent or showcase their calibre or showcase their skills. This happens everywhere in life. So, Madhya Pradesh League is something where it's a platform, it's an opportunity, it's a tournament where you can get yourself exposed for the next levels,' he added. The owner of Rewa Jaguars cited the example of Shivam Shukla, who hogged the limelight during the last season of the Madhya Pradesh League, and was eventually brought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a replacement for Rovman Powell in IPL 2025 last month. 'Like Shivam Shukla is the right answer to this question. Last year, he played in the Madhya Pradesh League, and now he is playing for KKR. So, that's how everybody looks for playing the Madhya Pradesh League,' said Alok Birla. 'It's a platform given by Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association where things are going to be very good for all those young talents who are born and brought up in Madhya Pradesh towards cricket,' he added. Even Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had described the Madhya Pradesh League as a launchpad for young players in recent address in Gwalior during the inauguration of the second season of the Madhya Pradesh League.
