Johan Bakayoko tops Monaco's shortlist to replace Maghnes Akliouche
PSV Eindhoven's Johan Bakayoko (22) has emerged as AS Monaco's priority target in the event of a departure for Maghnes Akliouche (23), according to a report from Foot Mercato. The France youth international has been linked with clubs across Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester City, and Arsenal. However, for now, Akliouche remains a Monaco player. Speaking at a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro addressed the player's future. Advertisement We can't control what happens outside. It is normal that Maghnes Akliouche is on the lists of the top clubs. We have our conditions, though. When this is the game, we are here to protect ourselves. He can stay or they can go – that is relevant to all players,' said Scuro. Should Akliouche leave, Bakayoko, whose contract at PSV expires next summer, is the priority target. The Belgian is also a target for Borussia Dortmund and is valued at €30m by his club. Sacha Tavolieri adds that Monaco have even begun talks with the winger's entourage. Bakayoko is open to a move to the Principality club, as well as to Borussia Dortmund. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Arsenal 'close to reaching verbal agreement' with in-demand Viktor Gyokeres - as Gunners target Monaco star in double summer swoop
Arsenal are reportedly close to sealing an agreement for in-demand Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres as they look to complete a double attacking summer swoop. The 27-year-old is one of Europe's most sought-after strikers having netted 54 times in 52 appearances for Sporting last season and has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal or Manchester United. The Swede has been embroiled in a spat with Sporting's director over attempts to increase his potential fee for a transfer. Gyokeres is thought to believe he reached a gentleman's agreement with Sporting last summer that would see them accept a fee in the region of €70m (£60m) including add-ons at the end of the season. But Sporting are said to be holding out for a significantly higher fee. Gyokeres is reportedly set to snub the Portuguese side's pre-season training and will look to force a move through. And Arsenal are now close to reaching a verbal agreement with Gyokeres' agent Hasan Cetinkaya, according to L'Equipe. The Gunners are also eyeing Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, who is reportedly the target of interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. Monaco appear to be resigned to losing the France Under-21 star, who they value at around €70m (£60m). Last season, the Frenchman scored seven goals and provided assists in 43 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side. Arteta's side are keen to bolster their attack after an injury-ravaged campaign up top saw their title bid unravel. A move for Gyokeres now appears increasingly likely, with the Swede unhappy with comments made by Sporting president Frederico Varandas. Speaking about a transfer, Varandas said: 'Sporting is calm regarding this matter. Secondly, Sporting does not need to sell Viktor Gyokeres. Fortunately, we have moved past the phase of selling our main asset. 'However, we remain sensitive to Viktor's dreams or those of any other athlete. Sporting has made a commitment that, after weeks of meetings, we will not demand the full amount of the clause; we will be reasonable regarding the amount requested for Viktor.' Although Varandas acknowledged that Gyokeres is likely to depart, he stated that the fee will be much higher than the potential price of £60m plus £10m in add-ons. He also claimed that Gyokeres is worth more than Matheus Cunha, who joined Manchester United from Wolves for £62.5m. Varandas said: 'Today, there is a strong likelihood that he will leave. I won't disclose the amount, but the player knows what it is. I can say that Viktor will not leave for 60+10m. He won't leave, absolutely not. 'We have been watching the market and I saw [Martin] Zubimendi, who is six months younger than Viktor, leave for €65m. I saw Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, both forwards but who, in my opinion, do not have Viktor's market value or quality, being negotiated for around €75m. 'Given the demands we consider fair, I believe Viktor could leave – unless he has the worst agent in the world, which is hard for me to believe, because he is one of the best footballers in the world.'

Arsenal turn to £60m Ligue 1 star in search for a new winger
Mikel Arteta hopes to add a new winger to his squad (Picture: Getty Images) Arsenal are in the hunt for a new winger this summer and have Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche on their list of targets. The Gunners are pursuing a number of new signings this summer, but as yet have only confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea in a £5m deal. Central midfield is set to be boosted, with both Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard expected to arrive, while the search for a new striker continues. Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko remain the two most likely options up front, although deals are proving tricky to get over the line. Eberchi Eze has also emerged as a target for Arsenal, while they remain in search of a new winger as well. The likes of Nico Williams and Noni Madueke have been linked with a move to the Emirates, while there it has now been reported that Akliouche has caught the eye in north London. The 23-year-old has made his way into the Monaco first team, featuring regularly over the last two seasons. Maghnes Akliouche has impressed over the last two years at Monaco (Picture: Getty Images) He scored seven goals in 43 appearances across all competitions over the last campaign, while he was also a creative force, providing 10 assists in 32 Ligue 1 games. He is yet to make his debut for the France national side, but has been capped up to Under-21 level and played regularly in the Olympic campaign at Paris 2024. L'Equipe report that Arsenal are far from alone in admiring Akliouche, with Manchester United, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City all said to have an interest in him. Arsenal are in the race alongside them although Monaco will not let Akliouche go cheaply, valuing the young star at around £60m. Akliouche played 10 times in the Champions League last season (Picture: Getty Images) The report from France states that another option for Arsenal could be Atalanta's Ademola Lookman, who would be a cheaper signing as he is likely available at around £43m. More Trending Speaking in April, Monaco boss Adi Hutter acknowledged that there will likely be a lot of interest in his player this summer and said he is ready to make a step up. 'He is already playing at a top club,' the manager said of the winger. 'We are all happy with what he has done over the last two years. He made a big, big step in the right direction. 'I can imagine that the club is receiving some offers from him. He is 23, and I don't see many players with the same skills as Akliouche. When you ask me, he is ready to make the next step. We will see what happens with Maghnes. 'We are proud that we brought a young player from the academy to become a performance player at the club and then to maybe become a top top player at a top top club.' Bayer Leverkusen monitoring AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche
Sky Germany reports that Bayer Leverkusen are monitoring AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche as they look to boost their attacking options this summer. After the sale of Florian Wirtz, Leverkusen are looking to diversify their attacking options in an attempt to replace the 22-year-old. Advertisement die Werkself are already in talks with Malik Tillman over a move from PSV Eindhoven this summer, who could cost more than €30m, but the aim is to sign other players as well. One who is deemed as a dream target for Leverkusen is Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche. Leverkusen have held initial talks with the 23-year-old, but the hurdle will be the price as Monaco have high demands for the winger, who has a contract until 2028. On top of this, Leverkusen could face competition from several other European clubs. Leverkusen have also been linked with Nico Paz of Como and Johan Bakayoko of PSV. This would suggest the direction in terms of formation that Leverkusen will take under Erik ten Hag, a 4-2-3-1. Previously, wingers were of no use to Leverkusen due to Xabi Alonso's preference for a 3-4-2-1 system. GGFN | Jack Meenan

Bayer Leverkusen interested in Premier League target Maghnes Akliouche
'I think players at his level, not so many clubs can sign him,' said AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro in reference to Maghnes Akliouche (23). Monaco have slapped a big price tag on the France youth international. The Principality club want around €60m for the player, a figure few are able to pay. It means that, at the start of the transfer window, interest has been limited. Manchester City were touted as a potential destination before they opted to instead sign Rayan Cherki from Olympique Lyonnais. Paris Saint-Germain, a long-term admirer, are yet to make their move. Nottingham Forest have been linked, too, but those links came before their end-of-season collapse. Competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season, it remains to be seen whether they can act on their interest and satisfy Monaco's demands. Advertisement Tottenham Hotspur, who will play in the UEFA Champions League, could yet be a possible destination for Akliouche, as could Bayer Leverkusen, as per Florian Plettenberg. He understands that the Bundesliga side have been closely monitoring the Monaco forward, with initial talks having already taken place. However, Les Monégasques' asking price is a sticking point. The 23-year-old is considered a 'dream signing', according to Plettenberg, but one difficult to pull off. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
