Aggarwal held meetings with Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J K Sinha and Director General of Police Anurag and discussed various operational and administrative issues for effective border management in the state of Tripura. According to a release, ADG Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, who is on a four-day visit to Tripura, interacted with BSF jawans and field commanders, taking stock of the security scenario and reviewing operational preparedness. ADG addressed a Sainik Sammelan at BSF Salbagan. Lauding the tireless efforts and dedication of BSF officers and men in safeguarding the borders in Tripura, he emphasised the importance of good health, physical fitness, and discipline. ADG BSF called on Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, and further had a courtesy meeting with J K Sinha, IAS, Chief Secretary of Tripura and Anurag, DGP, Tripura Police and discussed various operational and administrative issues for effective border management in the state of Tripura, the release said. Shillong, June 1 (UNI) Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Eastern Command, reviewed the current security scenario along the India-Bangladesh international border during his visit to the Border Security Force, Meghalya Frontier, a BSF official said. Aggarwal wrapped up a four-day visit to Meghalaya on Sunday after visiting several Border Outposts (BOPs) in the West Jaintia Hills district and East Khasi Hills district and interacted with BSF personnel stationed in remote and challenging locations. He commended the troops for their dedication and resilience amid difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. While addressing the officers of BSF Frontier Meghalaya, Aggarwal emphasised the importance of maintaining high morale, constant vigilance, and professionalism. He also highlighted the critical role of civic action programs in strengthening ties with border communities. In addition to operational reviews, the BSF Eastern Command Chief held meetings with senior officials of the civil and police administration to enhance inter-agency coordination and ensure seamless security management in the region. Inspector General of BSF, Meghalaya Frontier, O P Upadhyay briefed Aggarwal on the prevailing border situation, recent anti-smuggling operations, deployment strategies, and coordination efforts with local authorities. He reviewed the measures taken to prevent illegal infiltration and exfiltration, and appreciated the force's success in curbing cross-border activities. The BSF Eastern Command Chief also called on Meghalaya Governor, Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar, at Raj Bhavan, where he briefed him on the current security landscape and BSF's proactive measures along the international boundary. Aggarwal later met Chief Secretary D.P. 1 2 Guwahati: Additional director general of BSF's Eastern Command headquartered in Kolkata, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal , completed a three-day visit to the Guwahati frontier where he reviewed the operational preparedness and prevailing security scenario along the India-Bangladesh international border in West Bengal's Coochbehar and in Assam's Dhubri .A BSF PRO stated that on the first day of his visit at sector headquarters at Gopalpur in Coochbehar and Dhubri, the ADG was briefed by inspector general (IG) Sukhdev Raj of the Guwahati Frontier, along with field commanders which focused on the current security challenges posed by unrest in Bangladesh, the evolving situation on the India-Pakistan Border and the necessary measures taken to combat these issues. Additional Director General (ADG), Eastern Command, of the Border Security Force (BSF), Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, reviewed the operational preparedness in the North Bengal frontier during his visit on Thursday (May 8, 2025). According to a statement by the BSF, the ADG visited the Frontier Headquarters of BSF North Bengal, Kadamtala, to review the current security scenario in the Frontier AOR. It is worth noting that North Bengal not only shares borders with Bangladesh, but also with Nepal and Bhutan. Operation Sindoor LIVE Updates for May 9, 2025 Mr. Aggarwal's visit took place on Thursday (May 8, 2025), a day after the Indian armed forces launched military action against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7. A 1994-batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, Mr. Aggarwal, was appointed the ADG of the BSF's Eastern Command earlier this year. During his visit, he was briefed by the Inspector General of BSF's North Bengal Frontier, Mukesh Tyagi, about the 'prevailing security situation and emerging challenges' across the India-Bangladesh Border. Operational and administrative challenges were also discussed. The ADG directed BSF troops to be 'extra vigilant' given the present security situation along the zero-line and to thwart any attempt at trans-border crimes. Mr. Aggarwal was also briefed by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Jalpaiguri during his visit to the Teen Bigha Corridor under BSF's Jalpaiguri sector. There, he reviewed operational and administrative challenges in the riverine area of the Teesta River and the Dahagram-Angarpota enclave. The effectiveness of the electronic surveillance systems in the area was also inspected. BSF apprehends nine Bangladeshis On May 9, troops of BSF Kishanganj Sector under North Bengal Frontier successfully apprehended nine Bangladeshi nationals from Daspara village in West Bengal's Uttar Dinajpur district. The apprehended reportedly hail from Bangladesh's Dinajpur and Narsindi. According to a BSF statement, most of them were working as labourers in Rajasthan since last year.
