Mahinda to lead Malaysian cricket again
KUALA LUMPUR: Mahinda Vallipuram was elected president of the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) at its biennial general meeting (BGM) today. Mahinda, who was MCA president from 2015-2021, will lead again for the 2025-2027 term. He replaced Mohamed Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali who was MCA president for two terms from 2021-2025. Mahinda said: "I step into this role with a deep sense of responsibility and a clear purpose: to help Malaysian cricket move forward together. "Let me be very clear, this is not about what happened in the past. It is about what we can and must achieve for the future. "From the offset, I on behalf of the newly elected executive committee, reach out to all past committee members and delegates present today to accept that there is something greater than any of us — the health and vitality of Malaysian cricket. "Cricket in Malaysia needs strong, stable leadership and a clear direction today. I am committed to working with all stakeholders to rebuild structures, refocus priorities and deliver results that serve the game and its future."

Mahinda Pledges To Prioritise Good Governance To Hoist Status Of Malaysian Cricket
KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Newly elected Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) President Mahinda Vallipuram has pledged to prioritise governance and outcomes to elevate Malaysian cricket to greater heights. Mahinda, who led MCA for three terms (from 2015-2021) said good governance would form the foundation of MCA's future initiatives with an emphasis on transparency, structured processes and open engagement with state associations and the cricket fraternity. 'We on the Executive committee will ensure efficient, structured processes that allow the game to grow, and we will embed accountability into our system, ensuring discipline and clear reporting guide to every decision we make. We would need to drive improvements in performance at every level. Most importantly, we will ensure real progress - putting Malaysian cricket back on track, where it belongs. Meanwhile, Mahinda said the target is to move into the top 15 for both men and women categories in the next International Cricket Council cycle (2027–2031). Malaysia's men's and women's teams are currently ranked 26th and 29th in the ICC T20 rankings, respectively. The National team faces a busy calendar this year, with the men's team set to participate in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup qualifiers in Oman in October and the SEA Games in Thailand in December while the women's team will compete in an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournament and the SEA Games.
