Lekwa unveils 2025/26 service delivery plans
The Lekwa Local Municipality (LMM) has ushered in the 2025/26 financial year with a renewed focus on improving service delivery across all wards.
According to Lubabalo Majenge, the municipality's communications officer, these initiatives fall under the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), a key strategic framework addressing community needs and developmental goals.
Majenge said the LMM would undertake capital projects that ensured access to basic services, such as rehabilitating 1km of Hlongwane Drive.
Other expected projects this financial year include rehabilitating the Morgenzon landfill, fitting high mast and street lights with LED lights and installing VIP toilets in rural areas.
Several projects will carry over into this financial year, including building the Thuthukani Cemetery.
'Constructing the 6km electricity bulk lines from the A substation to Rooikoppen, and a 10MVa switching station at Rooikoppen, will also carre over to this financial year,' stated Majenge.
The auditor-general will audit Lekwa's financial and non-financial performance in the previous financial year.
