Man killed in suspected hit-and-run on major Perth highway
A man has died in a suspected hit-and-run incident that shut down a major Perth highway for most of the day as police investigated. A man in his 40s was found with 'significant injuries' on Tonkin Highway in Perth's northeast just before 2.30am on Thursday. Emergency services responded but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Major Crash Investigators closed the highway for most of the day as they investigated how the man ended up on the road. 'It is believed the deceased man was struck by a vehicle that left the scene,' police said. 'A woman is currently assisting police with their inquiries.' The northbound stretch of Tonkin Hwy between Morley Dr and Reid Hwy was due to reopen about 4pm, but authorities said congestion remains heavy. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

Young child dies after being hit by car in Adelaide's north
A young child has died after they were struck by a car in Adelaide's northern suburbs on Friday morning. Emergency services were called to Peachey Road in Edinburgh North at about 11am after a station wagon collided with a pedestrian. SA Police say the young child from the northern suburbs died at the scene. The driver was not injured in the crash and is assisting officers with their enquiries. Major Crash Investigators are looking into the cause of the accident. The child's death is the 35th life lost on SA roads this year.
