Lucas Radebe backs Relebohile Mofokeng's potential overseas transfer from Orlando Pirates

Lucas Radebe supports Relebohile Mofokeng's potential overseas transfer from Orlando Pirates, emphasising the importance of early development in Europe for South African football talents. Picture: Itumeleng English/Independent Media However, the move to Israel appears less likely due to the conflict in the Middle East. Radebe, though, said Mofokeng's main aim should be to play overseas as soon as possible. The winger has been rumoured to have attracted interest from Major Soccer League outfit FC Cincinnati recently, with Israeli sides Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv also in the conversation. At 20, Mofokeng is one of the hottest prospects in South African football after two stellar seasons for Pirates. Bafana Bafana and Leeds legend Lucas Radebe believes Orlando Pirates sensation Relebohile Mofokeng should not hesitate if he gets the chance to ply his trade abroad. Reset restore all settings to the default values Done Beginning of dialog window. Escape will cancel and close the window. Radebe Advocates for Relebohile's Early Move to Europe for Development 'I think he's ready (to go to Europe). You don't need five or ten seasons in the PSL to be ready. He's had two great seasons already,' Radebe told iDiski Times. 'That's enough to show his potential. From here, it's all about development – and that's where Europe can play a big role.' Radebe cited some Kaizer Chiefs legends as examples of players who could have benefited from a move outside SA. 'Players like Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, and even Itumeleng Khune – they all had the quality to play abroad earlier,' Radebe added. 'But staying at one club or in the PSL too long doesn't always help their growth. That's why I believe our top talents must go as young as they can. Relebohile is at that stage now.' Meanwhile, it's been almost a month since it first emerged that Orlando Pirates player Monnapule Saleng could be making a move to Kaizer Chiefs, and the lack of updates does not bode well. Saleng is still contracted to Pirates until 2027, but has not featured for the club since December. The 27-year-old, according to reports, is believed to have been absent from the field due to a salary dispute. However, since there has been no official word from Pirates, the rumours continue to swirl. @Michael_Sherman IOL Sport

Rele on the move? Major Soccer League club FC Cincinnati have joined the race to sign Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng. Photo: BackpagePix Major Soccer League outfit FC Cincinnati have reportedly become the latest club to register an interest in signing Orlando Pirates' 20-year-old sensation Relebohile Mofokeng. According to Soccer Laduma, the American club has become a serious contender for the services of Mofokeng, who is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects to come out of South Africa in a long time. This follows news that Israeli clubs Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv are also interested. Last week, it was reported that Maccabi Haifa had approached Pirates to enquire about the player and were told they needed to cough up R31 million. However, with the volatile situation in the Middle East, Mofokeng is unlikely to make the move, leaving the United States as a strong possibility.

Whitecaps top Messi, Inter Miami 2-0 in first leg of CONCACAF Champions Cup semis

Lionel Messi was the headliner but the Vancouver Whitecaps used grit and desire to steal the show. Striker Brian White scored in the 24th minute and midfielder Sebastian Berhalter sealed the win with a goal in the 84th as the Vancouver Whitecaps defeated Messi's Inter Miami CF 2-0 Thursday night in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinal. Joining him in the star-studded kickoff was Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets, forward Luis Suarez of Uruguay and defender Jordi Alba from Spain. Despite Miami's star power, it was White who earned one of the loudest roars from the crowd when he headed a pass from midfielder Pedro Vite past Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.
