Who is Makayla Timpson? A look at the newest Indiana Fever star
After being selected by the Indiana Fever with the 19th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, rookie forward Makayla Timpson has recently emerged as a shining star for the Fever. During her senior year at Florida State, Timpson averaged an impressive 17.5 points per game on 54.3% shooting from the field, 25% from three-point territory, and 76% from the free-throw line in 33 games played. Timpson was also a force on the defensive side of the ball by averaging 10.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. Beginning her WNBA career as a depth forward, Timpson has performed admirably in her role off the bench for Indiana which was highlighted by a career-best game on Saturday against the Los Angeles Sparks as the rookie scored five points on 2-for-4 from the field with six rebounds and one magnificent block in 14 minutes of action. While the Fever ultimately dropped Saturday's matchup against the Sparks by a score of 89-87, Timpson has shown the ability to be a solid relief option for head coach Stephanie White as the team searches for depth scoring during the absence of Caitlin Clark. Timpson and the Fever's next game will be on Wednesday, June 9, vs. the Golden State Valkryries from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with tipoff scheduled fo 11 a.m. CT. Wednesday's game will broadcast on NBA TV. Contact/Follow us @HawkeyesWire on X and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Iowa news, notes and opinions.
