Sabah-MM2H agents fully mobilised after criteria eased

Jenny Ngu chairing a meeting of the Malaysia My Second Home Sabah Association. KOTA KINABALU (July 19): The Malaysia My Second Home Sabah Association (MM2HSCA) welcomes the Sabah State Government's announcement to relax key criteria for the Sabah-MM2H programme — including lowering the minimum application age from 30 to 25, allowing fixed deposits in any of the 12 approved banks, and permitting up to 50% withdrawal after 12 months. These enhancements, announced by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew, who is chairperson of the Sabah-MM2H Approval Committee, are a strong step forward in positioning Sabah as a top destination for international residents seeking a safe, high-quality lifestyle. Since the announcement, the MM2HSCA has seen a notable rise in inquiries and applications, especially from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea — as well as from Western countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and Canada. 'All licensed Sabah-MM2H agents under our association are fully mobilised and ready to serve with professionalism, transparency and efficiency. We are actively promoting the programme through global roadshows, webinars and multilingual marketing to attract high net worth applicants from around the world,' said MM2HSCA president Jenny Ngu. Jenny said the Sabah-MM2H initiative is more than a visa — it's a lifestyle invitation to experience Sabah's natural beauty, cultural richness, and vibrant community. She urged Sabah-MM2H agents who have not yet joined the MM2HSCA to do so. 'By working together, we can set higher standards, build trust, and share in the growth of this promising programme,' she said in a statement on Saturday. During a meeting with the registered agents, Liew announced that the State Cabinet has approved several key amendments to the participation criteria of the Sabah-MM2H Programme. The minimum age requirement has been lowered from 30 to 25. Additionally, successful applicants may now place their mandatory fixed deposit in any of the 12 authorised commercial banks. They are also permitted to withdraw 50% of the deposit after 12 months for education or medical treatment purposes. Liew said the amendments, would attract more applicants.
