Buddhist association donates supplies, education aid worth RM150,000

NEEDY students and charitable groups in Klang received essential supplies and education aid worth RM150,000 from the Malaysia True Buddha School Federal Vajrayana Buddhism Association (FVBA). The donation was made to celebrate the 81st birthday of its founder Living Buddha Lian-sheng also known as Lu Sheng-yen. In his speech, FVBA president Master Lian Tai said the sum had been raised with the generous support of numerous True Buddha School disciples and benefactors. The funds were used to assist underprivileged students and to buy essential supplies for charitable organisations and educational institutions nationwide. Beneficiaries included Persa­tuan Bantuan Bencana Alam MISAR Malaysia, Kelab Belia Sinar Cahaya Kampung Ampang Campuran, School of Languages, Civilisation and Philosophy, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Kelab Barakah SLCP, Program Kongsi Rezeki SLCP and Persatuan Keba­jikan Bakul Makanan Klang, Selangor. FVBA continued its annual tradition by individually awarding RM5,000 bursaries to several educational institutions, including SJK (C) Hin Hua, SJK (C) Pandamaran School A and SJK (C) Pandamaran School B, all in Klang, Selangor as well as SJK (C) Man Ming, SJK (C) Lawan Kuda Baru and SJK (C) New Kopisan, all in Gopeng, Perak. This year, an additional RM5,000 was specially allocated to support five charitable organisations in the Klang Valley namely Padmasambhava Children Loving Association Klang, Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Berkat Kasih and the Association of Klang and Coast Chik Sin Thong Old Folks Home Selangor. FVBA also disbursed RM10,000 from the Lian Sheng Education Fund to the Department of Chinese Studies at Universiti Malaya as funding for the publication of the Journal of Sinological Studies.
