DirecTV just gave its live TV streaming service a serious upgrade

DirecTV makes our cut as one of the best live TV streaming services, but it's got a major flaw — it's expensive. To overcome this and bring in more cord-cutting customers, the cable alternative launched Genre Packs back in February. These packs offer a smaller, more affordable genre-focused channel selection, and often even include a streaming service subscription. Now, DirecTV is adding a new Genre Pack to its current offering, and including a decent amount of channels to two of its existing packs without raising prices (for now). As of yesterday (June 26), you can now sign up for MyKids, DirecTV's fifth Genre Pack. For $19.99 a month, you get 12 family-friendly channels, including Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel. You also get a free Disney Plus Basic subscription, which is normally $9.99 just on its own. If you already have the MyEntertainment Genre Pack, there's good news for you, too. DirecTV has added BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, POP, TV Land, and VH1, all at no extra cost. MySports subscribers are also getting a boost from Paramount, with existing and new customers now getting access to CBS Sports Network and your local CBS station (local station availability in select markets only). Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Here's a full breakdown of the five Genre Packs that DirecTV now offers: Additionally, all Genre Pack subscribers get access to the DirecTV app, unlimited DVR recording and MyFree DirecTV, the company's free streaming service. If you just want a narrow selection of channels, it's a reasonable deal, and we're even considering reviewing the Genre Pack experience separately from DirecTV (formerly DirecTV Stream) because of the increased value these provide. Definitely consider it as an option if you're looking to cut the cord. Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022, and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. Heartbreaking end to 4-month search for missing man as Gardai confirm body found

The search for a missing Wicklow man has been stood down following the discovery of a body earlier this week. 45-year-old Malcolm Ross was reported missing from his home on Monday, February 10, with both Gardaí and his family expressing concern for his well-being. A major search operation was launched, and Gardaí issued an urgent appeal seeking the public's assistance in tracing Mr Ross's whereabouts. In a tragic update on Friday afternoon, officers confirmed that the missing persons appeal has been stood down after a body was found, as they thanked the public for their help. A Garda spokesperson said: "Following the discovery of a man's body, the missing person appeal for Malcolm Ross, 45 years old, who was reported missing from his home in Wicklow Town on Monday, 10th of February 2025, has been stood down. "No further action is required. An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance." Mr Ross's family have confirmed that his funeral will take place early next week in a heartbreaking statement shared online. "After months of painful uncertainty, Malcolm has now been reunited with his heartbroken parents Doug and Gay, brother Aaron and sister Camille, together with their partners Rory and Sarah and nephew Bear; and by his partner and best friend Edel and his adored daughter Freya. Deeply regretted by his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends," a death notice shared on states. Tributes have poured in for Mr Ross, who "always had a warm smile for everyone and a great sense of fun". A childhood friend of Mr Ross's said: "My sincere condolences to the Ross family and your unimaginable loss. Many years of childhood memories in Sidmonton Park with Malcolm, who always had a warm smile for everyone and a great sense of fun. Thinking of you all during this difficult time." Another mourner added: "So sorry to hear of Malcolm's passing, he was a constant feature of my childhood years growing up on the Meath Road and playing football up in Sidmonton Park. Always generous and fun and from a lovely family. RIP Malcolm." While a third person said: "I am terrible sorry for your loss. Malcolm was a kind soul. I am sure his soul can rest in peace now that he is reunited with his family. May you find comfort. May we all try to remember kindness when dealing with each we can never understand what struggles another may have. May each one in the family find peace." Mr Ross will repose at Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue in Bray on Sunday 29th June from 3pm to 5pm. His funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday in the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium. Prime Video just revealed several generative AI features — including one I don't like

Prime Video has never shied away from bringing AI features to its streaming service. Last year, it rolled out several AI-powered updates, including new AI-generated recommendations and summaries and X-Ray Recaps, which use artificial intelligence to provide a summary that catches you up to the point you last watched in a show or movie. But that's just the tip of the generative AI iceberg. At a Prime Engage event yesterday, Prime Video showed off several AI features that are already implemented in Prime Video or are in the process of rolling out (h/t Deadline). Some of these, such as search suggestions and language dubbing, are hopefully only going to improve the Prime Video experience. But there's one feature that Prime Video showed off that I don't necessarily want. In its reporting, Deadline revealed that Prime Video is already using AI to help improve content resolution and picture quality as well. "We're investing in AI to protect picture quality, even if details are lost at low bit rates, say, for example, over mobile networks,' said Tricia Lee, director of product and data at Prime Video. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 'We also see opportunity in AI-based remastering to convert standard definition content into high definition, which we think not only creates a higher quality viewing experience, but preserves creative intent and enhances the value of [an] SD catalog.' Reportedly, the focus of this feature is to improve live events streaming on spotty bandwidth, which I don't inherently have a problem with. But I do have an issue with AI being used unchecked to improve the picture quality of standard definition material. Unchecked is the key term there. I don't have a problem with AI being used in the restoration and enhancement of existing content, provided the process is overseen by skilled human hands (and eyes). In those instances, a human is able to spot if the AI has gone overboard with its improvements. But Prime Video's AI-enhancement feature seems to just run in the background. If that's the case, I'm very much worried that the generative AI being used will make unnecessary enhancements, or in some instances, even hurt the viewing experience. As someone who swears by Filmmaker Mode, this feels like the opposite. Here's the full list of everything AI-powered that Prime Video reportedly showed off at the Prime Engage event: Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022, and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. Whole lotta property: The portfolios of hard rock legends AC/DC

Hard rock legends AC/DC are headed back to Australia in late 2025 as part of the world tour in support of latest album PWR/UP. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will play a series of stadium shows throughout the run. But away from the stage, what do the members - past and present - of the Aussie mainstays' property histories look like? Rock or bust In January, it was revealed that the Sydney house where band co-founders, guitarists Angus and Malcolm grew up had been demolished. The Young family migrated to Australia from Scotland, living first in a migrant hostel. The family moved into the house in 1965. AC/DC were formed in 1973 at the home, which was added to the National Trust Register of Historic Houses in 2013. Located in the suburb of Burwood, 4 Burleigh Street had long been visited by the band's fans. Cotality records show the two-bedroom brick house was bought by a property developer in February 2023 for $5,805,976. The company behind the demolition - who bulldozed the site to create a $28.75 million residential development - claimed they were unaware of the site's historic status. The developers have since promised that they'll set up a bar or cafe at the site using material salvaged from the demolition, so fans can celebrate the group's legacy. Highway to hell Who knew that dressing in a schoolboy's uniform for five decades could prove so lucrative? In 2007, it was reported that Angus Young was spending millions of dollars on an enormous mansion in a sleepy Dutch village. The three-storey home boasts a basement recording studio, his-and-hers bathrooms and a series of guest rooms. Young has also owned properties in England, and an impressive home at Kangaroo Point, Sydney. Meanwhile, vocalist Brian Johnson reportedly resides in Sarasota, Florida. Ride on Former guitarist Malcolm Young died in 2017. The Youngs' Sydney base had long been the Onkaparinga mansion, which the family bought for $870,000 in 1982. The Balmain East estate, Malcolm's long-time residence when in Australia, is set on almost 2000 square metres and has a swimming pool and tennis court. Several years ago, it was estimated the property was worth up to $30 million. In 2014, Young retired from AC/DC after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. In 2015, Malcolm and his wife, O'Linda, bought a beachfront property at Palm Beach for more than $10 million. The five-bedroom home is on an absolute beachfront site of about 520 square metres. Hell ain't a bad place to be Drummer Phil Rudd, who no longer tours with the band, sold his mansion in Tauranga, New Zealand in 2019. The waterfront mansion sold for NZ $4 million, after being listed with an asking price of $4.1 million. The six-plus-bedroom house is walled, gated, and was described as very private. It had views of Mt Maunganui, Tauranga Harbour and Matakana Island. The house had been owned by Rudd for nearly a decade. The property was also the scene when Rudd hit the headlines a few years prior. He was sentenced to eight months' home detention on drug and threatening to kill charges in 2015. In 2014, former bassist Mark Evans sold his Lilyfield family home of more than 15 years for $1.32 million. Evans, a member of AC/DC during the mid-1970s, reportedly included a signed guitar and a copy of his autobiography (Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside Of AC/DC, which we'd recommend any fans reading this check out) in the sale. Also, in 2018, AC/DC's former manager Michael Browning (whose Dog Eat Dog memoir is also a great read) sold his Avalon Beach home for $1.871 million.

Savannah, GA, June 25, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) is proud to announce the first indoor expansion of Savannah Children's Museum with the upcoming debut of Numbers in Nature, an interactive STEAM-focused exhibit that highlights the intersection of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. This exciting addition marks a new chapter for the museum and will offer year-round educational enrichment for families across the region. Through hands-on activities and interactive exhibits, guests will discover the hidden patterns of nature, from spirals and symmetry to fractals and beyond.
