For a team that clearly needed more help following their playoff series loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves after Stephen Curry's injury, the silence has grown deafening. Fans want to see the Warriors make some moves. Before a lot of the outside movement can be made, the team will need to figure out Jonathan Kuminga's future. Two names Golden State has been heavily connected to are Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton. Both players are viewed as likely to sign with the Warriors, but that isn't a done deal at this point in time. Read more: Report: Warriors Receive Major Al Horford Free Agency Update According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Warriors could be a potential suitor for veteran free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon. He hasn't been talked about a lot in free agency, but he's a quality player who would help Golden State's bench. "Another name worth mentioning that was connected to the Warriors in Las Vegas is Malcolm Brogdon," Siegel wrote on X. "The former Sixth Man of the Year has held out in free agency to this point despite multiple suitors contacting him in recent weeks." Brogdon played the 2024-25 season with the Washington Wizards. He missed most of the year and dealt with some injuries, but he would be well worth taking a flier on for a team like the Warriors to bring in depth behind Curry. During the 24 games and 13 starts Brogdon played in last year, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game. Back in the 2023-24 campaign with the Portland Trail Blazers, Brogdon played in 39 games and made 25 starts. He averaged 15.7 points per game to go along with 5.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds, while shooting 44 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from three-point range. One a one-year contract, Brogdon would be a valuable pickup for Golden State. He could be a scoring presence off of the bench and is a stable point guard for running an offense as well. Depending on the price he's looking to get, the Warriors should strongly consider signing him. For more on the Golden State Warriors and general NBA news, head on over to Newsweek Sports.

Lakers eye veteran guard as trade chatter heats up across NBA

The NBA offseason is heating up again, and things are moving fast. Chris Paul's name is once again making waves after reports suggested he's considering a return to Phoenix. But the domino effect from that situation could shape the rest of the league's guard market, and the Lakers might be right in the middle of it. MORE: Damian Lillard, Josh Gidddey headline best NBA free agents still available Advertisement Paul, now 40, is reportedly eyeing a reunion with the Suns or a possible return to the Clippers, two teams close to his family in Los Angeles. That alone could reshape the market, especially with Bradley Beal also nearing a buyout from Phoenix. Where Beal lands could determine Paul's next move, which in turn could affect where other available guards go. One of those guards? Malcolm Brogdon. Lakers linked to Brogdon amid Wizards trade talks According to a report from Jake Fischer, the Washington Wizards are open to working out a sign-and-trade involving Brogdon, and the Lakers are among the teams showing interest. Brogdon may not be a flashy name, but he brings a reliable offensive game and veteran experience to the table. Advertisement The Wizards are in full rebuild mode and see Brogdon as a trade chip. Several teams have reportedly reached out, including the Clippers, Suns, Warriors, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Kings, and Bucks — but the Lakers are one of the more intriguing fits. If they miss out on Paul, Brogdon could be a solid backup plan, especially with his ability to run the offense and contribute on both ends of the floor. Still, there's risk involved. Brogdon has struggled to stay on the court in recent years. He's played just 63 games over the last two seasons, a big drop after winning Sixth Man of the Year in Boston two years ago. Outside of that one healthy year with the Celtics, he hasn't played more than 60 games since his 2018–19 season with the Bucks. If healthy, Brogdon could give the Lakers much-needed depth in the backcourt alongside D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves. The question is whether the Lakers want to take that gamble or look elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Wizards would likely want picks or young players in return, something the Lakers have to weigh carefully. Advertisement As for Paul, a return to Phoenix would likely end any potential reunion with the Lakers. But if he goes elsewhere — or delays his decision — the Lakers could get more aggressive in talks with Washington. The whole situation is fluid, and it could come down to who makes a move first. One thing is clear: the Lakers are actively exploring their options. Whether it's Paul, Brogdon, or someone else, expect them to stay involved in the conversation until their backcourt is settled. The NBA offseason may just be getting started, but the Lakers are already in the thick of it. More NBA News:

Lakers-Wizards Trade Report Surfaces After Chris Paul News

Lakers-Wizards Trade Report Surfaces After Chris Paul News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NBA Offseason only continues to amp up the drama. The Phoenix Suns are reportedly in the midst of buying out Bradley Beal, which could lead to a domino effect across the league itself. Jake Fischer revealed how Beal's next team could impact where Chris Paul goes. Advertisement "Beal's looming buyout in Phoenix, however, could increase the likelihood of Paul's return to the Suns after the 40-year-old teamed with Devin Booker to lead the Suns to the NBA Finals in 2020-21," Fischer wrote. "As The Stein Line first reported on June 29, Paul's top two preferred destinations entering free agency were the Suns and Clippers … due largely to the proximity factor." Beal's decision could impact Paul's decision, which could affect the remaining free agent guards this offseason and where they decide to go next. NBA guard Chris Paul.© Kyle Terada-Imagn Images One of those guards is Malcolm Brogdon. Fischer reported that Brogdon has a robust market, that the Washington Wizards are willing to work out a sign-and-trade with him, and the Los Angeles Lakers are one of his suitors. Advertisement "All of these scenarios, furthermore, are sure to have an impact on Brogdon," Fischer wrote. "League sources say that the Wizards are open to sign-and-trade discussions to facilitate Brogdon's exit from Washington and a slew of teams have registered varying levels of interest in the 32-year-old. That list includes the Clippers, Suns and Lakers as well as the Warriors, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Kings and Bucks." Brogdon is a proven scorer two years after winning the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award with the Boston Celtics. However, because of injuries, he's played 63 games combined over the last two seasons. Outside of his one season with the Celtics, he last played more than 60 games in the 2018-19 season with Milwaukee. It is now clear that the news of Paul likely landing with the Clippers or Suns could pave the way for a team like the Lakers to land Brogdon. The Golden State Warriors are locked in a competitive race to land veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon, as they aim to bolster their roster for one more championship push alongside Stephen Curry. With the franchise still firmly in win-now mode, the front office is exploring all avenues to bring in experienced talent that complements their aging core — and Brogdon has emerged as a prime target. Warriors Face Stiff Competition for Malcolm Brogdon According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors and their Western Conference rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, are both actively working to complete a sign-and-trade deal with the Washington Wizards for Brogdon. The list of suitors doesn't end there — the Clippers, Suns, Pelicans, Timberwolves, Kings, and Bucks are also reportedly monitoring the situation. For the Warriors, adding Brogdon could be a crucial step in reshaping their supporting cast around Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson — assuming the latter returns. With limited flexibility and championship expectations still looming, Golden State knows any move could be the difference between a deep playoff run or another early exit. For a Warriors squad that has often struggled with depth and reliable backcourt production beyond Curry, Brogdon's arrival could address multiple issues at once. Why the Warriors Need This Move The Warriors have faced consistency issues, injuries, and a lack of bench production in recent seasons. Malcolm Brogdon's experience and versatility align well with Steve Kerr's system, where ball movement, defense, and composure are essential. At nearly 33 years old, Brogdon may not be a long-term solution, but his skill set perfectly fits the short-term focus Golden State is operating under. With the Western Conference as competitive as ever and Curry still playing at an elite level, the Warriors can't afford to stand still. As Billy Heyen noted, 'If one of the title contenders winds up with Brogdon, it could be an underrated move that goes a long way toward chasing a championship.' While blockbuster trades often dominate headlines, it's moves like acquiring Malcolm Brogdon that can quietly elevate a contender's ceiling. For the Warriors, securing Brogdon could stabilize their rotation, relieve Curry of ball-handling duties at times, and inject veteran composure into their pursuit of another NBA title.
