An Indian Manifesto by Vaibhav Maloo offers strategic policy vision in business, tech leadership & governance

Indian entrepreneur and author Vaibhav Maloo, Managing Director of diversified conglomerate Enso Group, has released his latest book 'An Indian Manifesto: A Vision for Tomorrow's India,' now available in major bookstores following its initial digital launch. The book presents a structured policy roadmap aimed at reimagining India's development trajectory, blending real-world business experience with data-backed public governance around all 54 ministries of the Government of India, the book offers pragmatic reform recommendations, drawing from Maloo's career leading cross-sectoral operations in technology, energy, infrastructure, and healthcare. It reflects a growing trend of corporate leaders contributing to national policy discourse, emphasizing evidence-based governance, institutional accountability, and scalable innovations. In contrast to traditional political manifestos, An Indian Manifesto is positioned as a non-partisan blueprint—rooted in empirical observations and informed by leadership principles from both the private and public spheres. It bridges macroeconomic policy and grassroots concerns with forward-looking proposals in education reform, digital public infrastructure, fiscal planning, and environmental governance. The book's chapters explore the integration of emotional intelligence and cultural awareness into curriculum development under the Ministry of Education, and advocate for climate resilience strategies through inter-ministerial collaboration. Maloo also proposes adaptive approaches to disaster response, referencing global benchmarks from Japan, urban planning insights from Singapore, and vocational excellence models from Germany—all contextualized within India's diverse social and economic fabric. Additional analytical contributions from Dhaval Pingulkar, a business analyst at Enso Group, lend a data-driven perspective to sections addressing fiscal optimization, sector-specific innovation, and systemic inefficiencies. Reflecting on the book's intention, Maloo remarked in an earlier interview, 'India's challenges cannot be solved through abstract idealism alone. We need executable strategies that emerge from intersectional thinking—where governance meets business, policy meets culture, and data meets values.' The book follows his previous work 'The Business of Life: Answers to 101 Tough Questions', and is already receiving attention from academic institutions and policy researchers for its multi-disciplinary lens on India's development challenges. In a time marked by rapid technological disruption, geopolitical complexity, and shifting social dynamics, An Indian Manifesto offers a systemic, solution-oriented framework for reform, with the aim of encouraging broader citizen participation in shaping India's institutional future.

‘Each One Plant One' celebrates member's birthday with ‘tree party'

1 2 3 4 Kolkata: It was a birthday party at Subhash Sarovar on Sunday without any cakes being cut or balloons decorating the podium. The organisers, mostly professionals from different walks of life, instead planted 47 saplings around the lake to celebrate the birthday of one of their members, which was part of their 'Each One Plant One' campaign. "This was an idea that struck us while we were planting trees on a Sunday and a friend had his birthday on that day. We thought, why not include our relatives and friends in this drive and celebrate birthdays in a different way," said Pankaj Maloo, trustee of Active Citizens Together for Sustainability (ACTS), a citizen initiative. 'Each One Plant One' is the prime initiative of ACTS to fight climate change and global warming. "I sent invites to my friends and relatives, asking them to gather at Subhas Sarobar on Sunday morning. We asked them not to bring any gifts, but to be prepared to plant a tree. Since it was my 47th birthday, we decided to plant 47 saplings," said Maloo, who celebrated his birthday. Members of 'Each One Plant One' have decided to celebrate their birthdays by planting more trees and spreading the message with a request to plant at least one tree on a citizen's birthday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 75% off LeafFilter installation LeafFilter Gutter Protection Get Rates Undo 'Each One Plant One' started functioning in 2020 and went to almost every neighbourhood in and around Kolkata to plant trees every Sunday morning. "In the past five years, we planted nearly a lakh trees. It was a difficult task as we were strangers to many neighbourhoods. We started tying up with housing societies, clubs, offices, police stations, and social organisations. In 2023, we started distributing saplings free of cost. We had a condition for everyone who wanted a sapling from us. They have to take care of the plant till it grows up," said Ajay Mittal, founder trustee of the initiative. According to the 'India State of Forest' report, 2021, Kolkata registered a 30% decline in green cover between 2011 and 2021. Out of 88,752 sq km geographical area in 2021, 16,832 sq km in Bengal was under forest cover. According to 2019 report, Bengal had 16,901 sq km under forest cover.
