Bahrain Outclasses Kuwait
TDT | Manama Bahrain's U16 squad continues its impressive GBA Qualifiers run with another big win After opening the 2025 GBA U16 Basketball Qualifiers with a 96–45 rout of Oman, Bahrain followed it up with another brilliant performance against Kuwait last night, winning 93–52 at Umm Alhassam Sports Hall. Kuwait looked set to close the first quarter with a narrow lead before Bahrain executed a swift 8–0 run to take a 25–22 edge by the buzzer. From there, it was Bahrain's tempo and composure that controlled the rest of the contest. By halftime, the game had cracked open: Bahrain surged ahead 58–31, with defensive rebounding and three-point precision suffocating Kuwait's rhythm. The third quarter continued in dominant fashion, with Bahrain stretching the score to 80–43 before easing into a controlled finish. Key Contributors Manama Club's Mohammed Adel Abdulla poured in 20 points, including four three-pointers, once again leading Bahrain's scoring and orchestrating the offense with ease. His shot selection and court awareness turned several broken possessions into momentum-swinging moments. Somto Patrick Onoduenyi added 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists, dominating both ends of the court and throwing down several highlight-reel dunks that deflated Kuwait's defensive morale. His transition leadership was vital in Bahrain's fast-break success. Hassan Oshobuge Abdulkadir was immense on the glass with 17 rebounds and 16 points, creating second-chance opportunities and setting the tone in the paint. Ali Khalil Habib grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists, while Mohamed Mahmood Farhan contributed 5 boards and 3 assists off the bench. Kuwait's AbdulAziz AlMutawa was again their top scorer with 13 points, but was held in check through physical defense and tight switching. Depth Tells the Story Bahrain's bench once again delivered. Yousif Ali Alsamaheeji brought calm and experience from his time with Al Ahli's Premier League title run, while Ali Alhaddad, Hussain Fuad Ghuloom, and Hasan Ruyan (12 points) all played important minutes. Captain Ali Husain Mohamed kept the team focused and vocal from the sideline, providing leadership throughout. Altogether, Bahrain's depth translated into 21 assists, 63 rebounds, and 21 steals, while forcing 30 turnovers from Kuwait. It was a statistical and stylistic show of effort and discipline. Strong Foundation From Coaching Staff Head Coach Rassem AlMarzooqi and Assistant Hani Alam have implemented a system rooted in team discipline, switching defense, and fast-paced transition play. Their influence was evident in Bahrain's ability to respond to Kuwait's early challenge and in their clinical dismantling of Oman just a day earlier. 'I'm proud of the boys,' said AlMarzooqi after the win. 'To come out with this kind of performance less than 24 hours after our last game shows real focus and maturity. But we know tomorrow will be another tough test—Saudi looked very strong today.' The team is clearly targeting improvement from its third-place finish in the 2023 edition, and so far, the signs point upward. Next Up: Saudi Arabia Bahrain will face a tougher test tonight at 7:30 PM, when they meet Saudi Arabia, who are coming off a 73–30 demolition of the UAE. The qualifiers are being played in league format, with five of the six GCC countries participating in this year's Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) event. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the FIBA U16 Asia Championship, to be held this September in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Bahrain Dominate Oman
TDT | Manama Bahrain hit the ground running in the U16 Asia Cup Gulf Qualifiers, sweeping aside Oman 96–44 in front of a buzzing home crowd at the BBA Arena in Umm Al Hassam. The hosts raced to a 31–11 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, controlling the game on both ends of the court. By half-time, the score was 60–23. Key figures deliver for hosts Rassem AlMarzouki rotated Bahrain's squad well throughout, supported by assistant Hani Alam. Five players from Manama Club featured, including Ali Al Ferdousi and Mohammed Farhan, while Al Ahli and Muharraq also had strong representation. Hassan Abdelkadir led the charge with a powerful dunk, multiple blocks, and calm freethrow shooting. Yousif AlSamahiji, who won the Bahraini Premier League with Al Ahli, impressed alongside Hassan AlSamahiji, who competed in the 2024 Bahrain ISF Gymnasiade 3x3 event. Oman's biggest threat, Adam Sulaiman, started brightly but was forced off with injury in the third quarter. Almulham Al Obaidani showed glimpses of promise for a side featuring players from Seeb, Sohar, and Nizwa. Despite encouragement from fellow Tunisian coach Zuhair Al Ayachi and assistant Ali Ismaeel Al Balushi, Bahrain's depth was too strong to overcome. Speaking after the game, Bahrain's head coach Rassem Al Marzouki remained positive: 'Alhamdulillah, we came away with a good impression. We gave all our players a chance and used the opportunity to try different things, especially with the full squad available. Tomorrow, the real tournament begins — we're the only team playing three matches in a row without rest. We'll adjust our defensive strategy, study Kuwait's strengths and weaknesses, and prepare in morning training. We scored 20 points late, we fought hard on both ends, and I believe all our players played well so that's the foundation of a strong team. InshAllah, we'll make the Bahraini crowd proud.' Timeouts were used tactically by both sides, but Bahrain's rhythm rarely faltered. Leading 79–31 after three quarters, Bahrain closed out the match 96–44. Eyes on Kuwait Bahrain return to action today at 7:30pm against Kuwait, who beat UAE 63–44 in their opener. Saudi Arabia face UAE earlier at 5:00pm. The tournament, held from July 7 to 12, features five Gulf teams—Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia—and acts as the qualifying stage for September's FIBA Asia U16 Championship in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Legacy of Giving: Community-led with Digital Boost
TDT | Manama Bahrain's longest-running community health campaign marked its 27th edition on Friday with a new digital touch and a strong turnout of donors, honouring a tradition rooted in faith and public service. The Imam Hussain (PBUH) Blood Donation Campaign, launched under the slogan 'Blood in Your Name', collected 64 blood bags on its women-only opening day, while the second day for men saw a significantly larger response. Drive Organised by the residents of Al-Naeem and the campaign's Supreme Committee, the drive continues to stand as a symbol of collective humanitarian action during Muharram. Held in partnership with Al Hilal Healthcare Group for the second year, the campaign was hosted at the group's Manama Central branch. Dr. Fadel Al-Nasheet, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health for its ongoing support, particularly under the leadership of the minister, H.E. Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan. This year, a new digital appointment system was introduced to streamline the donation process. Consultations According to Al-Nasheet, the move followed consultations with local officials and civil society groups to improve donor access and operational efficiency. Dr. Sharat Chandran, CEO of Al Hilal Healthcare Group, said the campaign reflects the true spirit of community partnership and has become a permanent fixture in the group's annual commitments. Since 2000, the campaign has donated over 16,526 blood bags to the Central Blood Bank, cementing its legacy as one of Bahrain's most impactful grassroots health initiatives.

Bahrain to Face Vietnam After Edging Malaysia in Asian Beach Football

It was a match that teetered on the edge until Isa Ghaleb found the net with seconds to spare, clinching three points for Bahrain on the tournament's opening day. The starting eleven featured: Ahmed Abdulrasool, Hussain AlDoseri, Isa AlDoseri, Ali Husnain, and talisman Isa Ghaleb. The sandy pitch saw a back-and-forth affair, Malaysia clawing level more than once before Ghaleb's late strike settled it.
