Crews make progress on wildfires burning in Inland Empire
Firefighters on Monday continued to battle multiple wildfires that erupted in Southern California's Inland Empire over the weekend, burning near homes and forcing evacuations. Crews appeared to be gaining the upper hand on the majority of the fires, with the Wolf Fire burning in Banning remaining one of the most active. The Wolf Fire broke out shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail in Banning. As of Monday morning, CalFire reported that the blaze had scorched 1,400 acres with 10% containment. Evacuation orders remained in place for the following zones: BAN-0538B, RVC-0650, RVC-0653, RVC-0651A, RVC-0749, RVC-0750, RVC-0828, RVC-POPPETFLATS1, RVC-TWINPINES1, MRF-TWINPINES2, MRF-0539, MRF-0751, RVC-POPPETFLATS4. Evacuation warnings were in place for the following zones: RVC-0651B, RVC-0541, RVC-0655, RVC-0654, RVC-0830, RVC- VISTAGRANDE, RVC-POPPETFLATS2, RVC-POPPETFLATS3, RVC-0898, RVC-1000. WOLF FIRE – CAL FIRE HOMEPAGE An evacuation center was opened at Hemet High School, located at 41701 E. Stetson Ave. in Hemet. An animal shelter is open at 581 S Grand Ave, San Jacinto. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Mandalay Fire was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday near Tyler Street and Mandalay Court in Riverside. As of Sunday night, CalFire reported that the blaze had burned just under 100 acres with no containment, but officials stated that forward progress had been stopped. 'We have seen some small flare-ups throughout the morning,' said KTLA's Erin Myers from the scene Monday morning. Evacuation orders have been lifted after being issued on Sunday afternoon. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Mindy Fire was reported a little after 3:45 p.m. on Sunday near Mindy Way east of Decoursey Road in Aguanga. As of Monday morning, CalFire reported it had burned about 100 acres and was 100% contained. All evacuation orders have been lifted after fire crews worked overnight to increase the containment. Officials have not released a possible cause for the fire. The Lake Fire was reported just before 4 p.m. on Saturday near Highway 173 and Cedar Springs Dam Trail near Silverwood Lake in the San Bernardino County Mountains. Cal Fire reported that forward progress on the blaze had been stopped Sunday evening. As of Monday morning, CalFire reported it had burned 485 acres and was 25% contained. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Cable Fire erupted around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday near Martin Ranch Road and Cable Lane in Cable Canyon. As of Monday morning, the fire had burned approximately 15 acres, just off the 15 Freeway in the Devore area of San Bernardino, and was 15% contained. Evacuation orders connected to the blaze have been lifted. One firefighter was hospitalized with a heat-related injury. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Wolf Fire: Blaze near Banning burns 1,165 acres; evacuations ordered
(This story was updated with new information.) A brush fire near Banning had grown to over 1,100 acres by Sunday evening, according to Cal Fire. The Wolf Fire was first reported near Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail, west of Highway 243. It was reported about 3:09 p.m. Cal Fire reported that 200 personnel, a helicopter, 25 fire engines, two dozers, three water tenders and other crews had been assigned. The size of the fire, 1,165 acres, is over 1.82 square miles. As of just after 6 p.m., evacuation orders and warnings were in effect for almost all the Banning and Cabazon areas south of Interstate 10. Evacuation orders were issued for areas east of Highland Springs Avenue, west of Old Cabazon Road, north of Poppet Flat Divide Truck Trail and south of Interstate 10. Evacuation warnings were also in place for regions east of Bergamo Avenue, west of South San Gorgonio (243) Avenue, north of Poppet Flats Trail and south of Highland Springs Avenue. Mindy Fire: Brush fire in Aguanga grows to 100 acres; evacuations ordered
Evacuation orders were issued in parts of Riverside County as firefighters continued to battle a 100-acre brush fire in Aguanga on Sunday. The Mindy Fire was reported around 3:40 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Decoursey Road and Mindy Lane, where firefighters found the fire burning at a moderate rate. At the initial time of report, the fire was burning about 20 acres, but grew to 100 acres by 6:40 p.m. Evacuations were ordered for areas north of Wilson Balley Road, west of Cahuilla Heights Road, east of Benton Road and south of Red Mountain road on Sunday evening. Mandalay Fire: Blaze in Riverside grows to 83 acres, but crews halt progress

Firefighters battled a brush fire Sunday that burned about 83 acres in Riverside before crews got it under control, according to a fire-monitoring website. The fire was reported around 2 p.m. Sunday in the area west of Tyler Street and Mandalay Court, according to the city of Riverside Fire Department. The fourth-alarm fire prompted an immediate evacuation order for the area near Gaylord Street, Eureka Drive and Mandalay Court due to the fire threatening nearby structures and life, according to the Riverside County Fire Department, which was assisting. At 4:40 p.m., the fire-monitoring service Watch Duty reported that commanders believed crews had stopped the forward progress of the fire, although they were still working to fully surround and contain it. The Riverside Fire Department said the effort to control the blaze "remained active" after 6 p.m. At least two other wildfires were burning in the area on Sunday. Evacuation warnings were also in place for nearly all of Cabazon south of Seminole Drive, and a portion of Beaumont that includes an area south of I-10, east of South San Gorgonio Avenue and west of South 22nd Street.
