Ban imposed on tourism, bathing near rivers in Solan amid monsoon alert

Solan, June 27 (UNI) In view of public safety during the monsoon season, District Magistrate Solan Manmohan Sharma has imposed restrictions on movement and activities near rivers, streams, and ravines under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, 2023. The order bans all unauthorised tourism and commercial activities in and around Ashwini Khad and Shani temple on the banks of the Giri river at Giripul in Ser Baneda, a revenue village in Solan tehsil. Bathing and picnicking along the banks of Ashwini Khad and the Giri river have also been strictly prohibited. The administration highlighted that heavy rainfall during the monsoon can lead to a sudden rise in river water levels, posing a serious risk to life, especially for tourists who often venture close to water bodies. The District Magistrate has directed the local police to enforce the ban in coordination with the District Tourism Officer. These precautionary orders take immediate effect and will remain in force for the next two months. Any violation will invite legal action. Authorities have urged residents and tourists to adhere to the guidelines for their own safety during the rainy season. UNI ML RN

Three held for robbery at Bagru jewellery shop

Jaipur: Four days after armed men took customers and staff of a jewellery showroom in Bagru area hostage at gunpoint and escaped with gold worth about Rs 70 lakh, city police arrested three robbers for the crime. Two of the arrested robbers reportedly told police that they were lodged together in prison and were released on bail in an Arms Act case from Jaipur Central Jail. After coming out, they started working at a private company in Bagru but soon began planning a heist to make quick money. DCP (west) Amit Kumar said the robbers conducted reconnaissance at several locations, including a Muthoot Finance office. Eventually, they decided to target Ratneshwari Jewellers , a shop owned by Manmohan Sharma and located in Juggal Bazaar, Bagru. The incident, which took place on July 22, created panic and anger among local residents due to the daredevil manner in which the robbery was carried out. Police arrested Kanhaiya Lal Sharma alias Chinku Pandit, 20, Sohail Pathan, 20, and Pyare Lal Luhar, 37. A fourth accused, Kaushal, a resident of Bagru, is absconding.
