Sinha promises jobs to eligible kin of all Kashmiri civilians killed by terrorists within 30 days

SRINAGAR: An eligible unemployed member of each "unacknowledged" Kashmiri household that lost someone to terrorist bullets over the past three decades will get a govt job within 30 days, J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha promised Sunday during an outreach in south Kashmir's Anantnag involving over 80 such families. Sinha's directive to deputy commissioners to process pending job applications on priority and register FIRs in 'buried' cases of Kashmiri civilians being targeted is part of a broader initiative to reshape the narrative around J&K's 40,000-odd casualties in violence since Pakistan-backed terrorism turned the Valley into a killing field. "It's shocking that prior to 2019, terrorists' funeral processions were allowed while thousands of common Kashmiris killed by terrorists remained unacknowledged," Sinha said at the event, organised by Save Youth, Save Future Foundation. 'For years, truth was kept hidden under pressure from the terror ecosystem.' He said cases against the perpetrators of such killings would be pursued to their logical end, "whether they are in Kashmir or hiding in Pakistan". Sinha also announced that the Union govt would reclaim properties belonging to victims' families that had been encroached upon by "terrorist sympathisers or separatist elements". "It's a historic step to finally recognise and honour the thousands of innocent civilians in Kashmir who were brutally killed by Pakistani terrorists. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Were So Beautiful Before; Now Look At Them; Number 10 Will Shock You Reportingly Undo For decades, these families were marginalised. Families from Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, where dozens of terrorist attacks on security forces and civilians have been reported over the years, attended the event. Besides offering jobs to eligible applicants, the lieutenant governor assured financial assistance and expert handholding to those wanting to start businesses. A Raj Bhavan statement said many families spoke to the lieutenant governor about 'decades of false propaganda and Pakistan's role in fuelling terrorism in the Kashmir Valley'.

J&K LG assures jobs, business support to families of terror victims

Srinagar, June 29 (UNI) J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today asked families of terror victims eligible for government jobs to submit their cases to the respective Deputy Commissioners, assuring them of fast-tracked appointments within a month. Sinha met the family members of Kashmiri Civilians killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists in the last three decades during the day. A government spokesman termed it a "historic step" to finally recognise and honour the thousands of innocent civilians in Kashmir who were brutally killed by Pakistani terrorists. The LG bowed to the family members and paid tributes to the common Kashmiri citizens who fell victim to the bullets of Pakistani terrorists. Save Youth, Save Future Foundation, a non-profit organisation is playing a crucial role in documenting the families of terrorism victims. Over 40,000 people, including civilians, security personnel, and even children, have lost their lives to terrorism since 1990. In majority of cases, FIRs were not filed in common Kashmiris' killing by terrorists, the spokesman said. The Lieutenant Governor said Government of India launched this initiative to enable families affected by terrorism to share their pain and expose the conspiracies of the terror ecosystem. 'For decades, these families were marginalised and their voices were not heard. Justice was denied. Their pain was ignored, their stories untold, and the truth deliberately suppressed. Hundreds of families have gained strength and support to say their loved ones were killed by Pakistani terrorists. It's shocking, before 2019 terrorists' funeral processions were allowed while thousands of common Kashmiris killed by terrorists, remained forgotten and unacknowledged," the Lieutenant Governor said. The Lieutenant Governor asked the family members of terror victims who are entitled for Government jobs to submit their cases to concerned Deputy Commissioners. He assured them of a speedy process of appointment within a month and financial assistance, hand-holding to family members who want to start their own business venture. 'In cases where FIRs were not registered, directions will be given to register FIRs in those cases. Action will also be taken to free the land and property of terror victims' families encroached by terrorist sympathisers or separatist elements," the Lieutenant Governor said. The Lieutenant Governor said that Government of India and security apparatus is committed to bring voices of victims to the forefront and ensure justice. 'I know, for years truth was buried under pressure of terror ecosystem. Now, the families are exposing Pakistan and their supporters inside Kashmir. It will be ensured that the real culprits, whether they are in Jammu and Kashmir or hiding in Pakistan, are given the harshest punishment," the Lieutenant Governor observed. The Lieutenant Governor further said: 'We must expose the people wearing masks in the society. We must break the society's silence and must speak up against those committing atrocities'. The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that while India is progressing by leaps and bounds day by day, the neighbouring country, known as the global terror hub and breeding ground for terrorists, is yearning for bread. "Today Pakistan is counted as the biggest beggar in the world and our country has become the fourth largest economy in the world. While our youth today are making a name for themselves in innovation and entrepreneurship, Pakistan is sending its youth to terror training camps. It aims to kill common Kashmiris. But, we have drawn a new line with Operation Sindoor and we will give a befitting response to any misadventure by the enemy," the Lieutenant Governor said. He said under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, all efforts are being made to ensure accelerated inclusive development and security officials are working to ensure that these families receive the justice, recognition, and support they deserve after years of suffering in silence. 'I also assure all the families affected by Pakistan-sponsored terrorism that your culprits will not be spared," the Lieutenant Governor said. More than 80 terror victim families interacted with the Lieutenant Governor and exposed the terrorists and their backers. These families from South Kashmir have been enduring tremendous hardships after losing their family members in barbaric terror acts perpetrated by terror outfits. During the interaction, these families countered decades of false propaganda and Pakistan's role in fuelling terrorism in Kashmir valley. They said a fake and dangerous narrative was promoted, one that portrayed Pakistani terrorists as victims and Indian security forces as aggressors but real victims, common Kashmiris' killed by Pakistan terrorists were ignored and neglected due to influence of separatist outfits and the ecosystem. Time has finally come for victims of terror ecosystem to get justice: J&K L-G

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha said on Sunday that time has finally come when the families of victims of terrorists and terror ecosystem in the union territory will get the much-awaited justice. Addressing a large number of family members of terror victims in Anantnag town on Sunday, the L-G said: "Jammu and Kashmir administration especially the security forces have created a peaceful atmosphere so that the victims of terror ecosystem can share their pain and get the much awaited justice. I am here to tell you today that finally your wait for justice has ended. To begin with, all those victims of terrorism who did not get compassionate appointment in government service must submit their applications to concerned district magistrates within the next few days. "If some victim family has not received compassionate appointment so far, such a family would get compassionate appointment for a member within the next 30 days. If any youth of such a family wants to start a business of his/her own, he/she will get financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana without any collateral. The administration will do their hand holding." L-G Sinha also said: "If some of the victim families feel that the killer of their father or brother is still at large and employed in government job, IGP (Kashmir) is here today. Such a family member should give application to the IGP, the involved person would he booked and dismissed from government service if he is a government employee. If terrorists or their sympathisers have occupied your house or property, please come forward and the administration will help you claim your right on such properties so that these are restored to you. 'I appeal to you to come forward and submit your grievance against terrorists or their sympathisers. I am also instructing the IGP that people of different districts should be able to file such grievances before the concerned district magistrate and the SSP. The country that has made terrorism its state policy is unable to provide two square meals to its citizens while India is progressing by leaps and bounds." The L-G further said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, deserving people in every part of the country including Jammu and Kashmir are getting food and medical care free of cost. "Kashmir has been connected through rail link, new roads and highways have been made, places without electricity have got electricity and based on merit and without favour, deserving youth have got government jobs, others have got self-employment. 'Fruits of development have reached poor families and I have been witness to such families whose destiny has been changed under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Our neighbouring country is supporting terrorism while its citizens are starving. Pakistan is rated as the biggest beggar country today while our country is rated as the 4th biggest economy. Our youth are excelling in academics and different professions while Pakistan is sending its youth to terror training camps. 'After April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, under Operation Sindoor, our armed forces went deep into Pakistan and destroyed 9 terrorist infrastructures. When things escalated, we destroyed 11 army/defence bases of Pakistan. Pakistan stands warned that any future act of terrorism will be treated as an act of war by India. It is time that you (families of terror victims) gather courage and come forward to expose those who have now changed faces and are living as 'respectable citizens in J&K'," the Jammu and Kashmir L-G said. Speaking further, he said: "We have heard and felt the pain of those families whose dear ones were killed since 1990 at the behest of those against whom even routine FIRs in many cases were not registered. Large processions would be carried out during the funerals of terrorists and the terror ecosystem had established and entrenched itself well in Kashmir. "Those killed by terrorists would get no mourners and even burial ground became difficult for victims of terrorists to find. This also we heard from the families we met here today. A false narrative was created which said the terrorists are victims while police and the army are the enemies of the people. Under pressure from Pakistan and its sponsored terrorists, the cries of the victims were suppressed and those cries we have heard today here. 'We have heard some stories of human sufferings today. Others would have perhaps more painful stories to narrate those were suppressed through the then prevailing terror ecosystem. I am thankful to 'Save Youth, Save Future' organisation that organised today's function. This organisation has taken appreciable effort to trace the victims of terrorism from different parts of J&K so that the truth is told to the nation and also to the international community." Before the address of the Lt Governor in Anantnag town where he met the families of terror victims since 1990 at the local degree college, members of victim families narrated horrifying stories of their sufferings at the hands of terrorists and terror ecosystem in Kashmir.

J&K LG reviews arrangements for Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir

Ahead of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday reviewed the arrangements for smooth conduct of the annual Hindu pilgrimage at Nunwan Base camp in Pahalgam in South Kashmir, officials said. Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha reviews the healthcare arrangements at Base Camp Hospital for the pilgrims of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, in Pahalgam on Sunday. (ANI) Sinha inaugurated a foot overbridge at the camp for smooth movement of pilgrims. 'It will ensure efficient security checks and reduce the waiting time for devotees,' Sinha said on social networking site X. The annual pilgrimage will start from July 3 and end on August 9 this year, which comes just two months after a major terror attack in Baisaran Pahalgam in which 25 tourists and a local were killed by terrorists on April 22. Sinha, who is chairman of Amarnath Shrine Board, also reviewed the progress of disaster management centre and yatri niwas and functions of various services for pilgrims including lodging, 'langar', power and water supply, sanitation, health facilities, traffic management, fire and emergency services and deployment of security personnel. '(I also) visited Chandanwari Base Camp and interacted with doctors and the medical team at the Base Camp Hospital. Reviewed the healthcare arrangements for the pilgrims,' he said. Every year, hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees from across the country visit the cave shrine of Amarnath situated at a height of 3,880 metre in the Himalayas passing through treacherous mountain routes, glaciers and ice fed streams. Pahalgam is one of the two main base camps of the Amarnath yatra. The authorities have put in place an elaborate security plan to thwart any danger to the pilgrims and tourists. Only one-third of the pilgrims registered for this year's Amarnath Yatra before the Pahalgam terror attack have confirmed their travel to the cave shrine, Sinha said on Thursday, noting that overall pilgrim registration has dropped by over 10% from last year in the wake of the April 22 attack. Around 2,36,000 pilgrims had registered for the yatra before the terror attack. So far, 85,000 pilgrims have reconfirmed their registration. Last year, around 5,12,000 pilgrims had performed the yatra, the highest in over a decade.
