San Francisco 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir was arrested Thursday afternoon in South Los Angeles. He was charged with delaying and resisting a peace officer, a misdemeanor. Another man, apparently a companion of Lenoir's, was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, which is a felony. Advertisement According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the 4500 block of South Wilton Place. Officers spotted 25-year-old Marcus Cunningham "frantically reaching" into a gray Cadillac Escalade. He then "locked the vehicle and walked away, appearing to conceal contraband." After additional officers located the keys on a nearby porch, the police opened the car and found "a loaded semi-automatic firearm in the center compartment, a loaded Glock in an open compartment and narcotics," the LAPD said. Advertisement According to the L.A. County Sheriff Department's inmate information center, Lenoir was released on his own recognizance at 1:18 a.m. Friday and is due to appear in L.A. Superior Court on July 25. No release or court information was available for Cunningham. The 49ers released a statement Friday saying that they're aware of the matter and "are in the process of gathering further information." Lenoir, a former standout at Los Angeles Salesian High who played four seasons at Oregon, was selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. He signed a five-year, $88-million contract extension before the 2024 season. San Francisco 49ers player Deommodore Lenoir was arrested in Los Angeles on June 26 and later charged with obstruction of justice. The NFL cornerback was approached by the Los Angeles Police Department around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. Lenoir and a group of men, including one Marcus Cunningham, were apparently blocking traffic with their double parked cars, according to the LAPD. Officers on the scene reportedly noticed a firearm in Cunningham's parked car which led to a further altercation. Advertisement Police proceeded to ask the men for their keys. The group instead began to pass them amongst each other and attempted to hide the keys from the police. Their alleged refusal to hand over the keys led to the defensive NFL star's arrest. Cunningham was arrested as well for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle. Lenoir was released from the 77th Street Division Police Department at 1:18 a.m. on Friday morning. He now faces a misdemeanor obstruction of justice charge and will appear back in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 25. Lenoir's court date comes just three days after the veteran 49ers are due back for the beginning of training camp for the upcoming NFL season. This will be his fifth season on the San Francisco football team. The 49ers have not released an official statement regarding the arrest of their player. Lenoir has become a defensive star and key player for the 49ers since being drafted in 2021. San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was arrested Thursday in Los Angeles and charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The 49ers released a statement, saying, "We are aware of the matter involving Deommodore Lenoir and are in the process of gathering further information." TMZ reported law enforcement sources said police were called to an incident and approached Lenoir and another man, Marcus Cunningham, before finding double-parked vehicles blocking traffic. Officers find man shot, killed at Macon apartment complex. Investigation underway

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a local apartment complex Thursday. The sheriff's office said in a news release that officers were called to the Autumn Trace Apartments located at 1745 Rocky Creek Road just before 7:30 p.m. regarding a person shot. 'Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a male inside of an apartment unresponsive with a gunshot wound,' the sheriff's office said. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley, the sheriff's office said. The victim was identified as Marcus Cunningham, 22, Coroner Leon Jones told The Telegraph. He had a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead just before 8:30 p.m. The incident was under investigation Thursday evening. The BCSO urged anyone with information to contact investigators at 478-751-7500, or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME. Reporter Jesse Fraga contributed to this story.
