Anderson confident wins will come for Lancashire
James Anderson is confident Lancashire can turn their season around if they maintain the positive approach they showed against Kent. England's all-time leading Test wicket-taker captained Lancashire for the first time in the Championship game in Blackpool. Advertisement But the Red Rose could not nail down a first red-ball win of the season as Kent batted out the final day for a draw. However, Anderson was pleased with how his players took the initiative and hopes they can maintain that against Derbyshire in the next Championship match in Chesterfield. "The positive approach we had, if we keep that and keep playing well, we have the quality in the group to win some games," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. It has been a terrible start to the Championship for Lancashire this season in Division Two following relegation, with the Red Rose picking up no wins from eight games as they sit sixth. Advertisement Captain Keaton Jennings resigned last month before head coach Dale Benkenstein was sacked a fortnight later. Steven Croft is the interim head coach while Australia batter Marcus Harris has been appointed as the red-ball skipper. But with Harris back home on paternity leave, Anderson has taken over for the games with Kent and Derbyshire. Lancashire's mammoth 639-9 dec was their highest score for 10 years, with three players - Luke Wells, Josh Bohannon and Ashton Turner - scoring centuries. And they had Kent on the ropes at 116-7 in their second innings, only for a stand of 182 between Joey Evison and Grant Stewart to effectively save the game. Advertisement "The way we applied ourselves this week felt different to the rest of the season," said Anderson. "We had a lot of positive energy in the field and then the way we applied ourselves with the bat - we dug in when needed and when the opportunity was there to put the pressure on the opposition, we did that." 'More pressure when decisions are yours' The game in Blackpool was Anderson's first go at leading a side despite his vast experience of 188 Tests and more than 20 years of first-class cricket. And he admits that certain things took him by surprise. "Day one, the concentration levels weren't quite there when I was bowling," he said. Advertisement "I was thinking about other stuff rather than where I was bowling the ball, so it took a little while to get used to that. "For me, it was something very different. Even when I've played and not been captain, I've always thought about the game and tried to help captains out on the field. "But obviously when the decisions are yours, you feel under that little bit more pressure. "But I got used to it as the game went on and thoroughly enjoyed it."

Anderson to captain Lancashire in Harris' absence
Lancashire are banking on Sir James Anderson igniting their faltering red-ball season by making him captain for the County Championship game against Kent at Blackpool, starting on all-time leading Test wicket-taker will lead the Red Rose in the absence of Marcus Harris, who will miss the next two four-day matches after returning to Australia for the birth of his second coach Stephen Croft is hoping Anderson's X factor and experience can help drag Lancashire to a first victory of the campaign at the eighth attempt - they are currently the only winless side in the country in either division."Jimmy will lead the side and it is exciting for him and us," Croft told BBC Sport. "He has captained only once and that was in a pre-season tour T20 game in Dubai so it will be nice for Jimmy and nice for the lads."He has obviously got a lot to offer on and off the field. It will be a proud moment for him. It is not obviously all on Jimmy but it helps and his presence, particularly as captain, is a massive boost for the rest of the lads." What has gone wrong for Lancashire this season? It is easier to ask 'what has gone right?' with regard to the red-ball campaign and the short answer is 'not a great deal'.Five draws and two defeats from their seven outings in the first Championship block has cost them plenty with Keaton Jennings stepping aside as skipper after five opener suggested a change of captaincy was required and Harris was put in charge on an interim basis, but further flux was to follow at the end of last month when patience ran out with head coach Dale Benkenstein.A thumping defeat by an innings and three runs inside three days against Division Two leaders Leicestershire – the second innings loss in three games for Lancashire and one which left them 73 points adrift of top spot halfway through the campaign – proved the tipping a decent run of form in white-ball cricket has followed and crucially the first wins of the summer, helped in no small part by 42-year-old Anderson weighing in with 10 wickets in four matches. Can they use momentum from the T20 Blast? Four wins from six in the Blast sees them well-placed in the race for a quarter-final spot and Croft is hoping that the feelgood factor from white-ball cricket will translate to the longest format."The way I'm looking at it and what I will say to the team is this is a pivot in the season," said the interim coach. "Seven games that have gone before we can't do anything about. But we still have seven games to climb the ladder and there is still a chance we can go up."We are only a few wins away from right at the top so we can use it as pivot in the season to get in the right direction. That break with the Blast suddenly those wins seem a little bit more attainable."Lancashire will be without Harris for the next two rounds of Championship action but they will have Ashton Turner and Chris Green available. Blackpool, Chesterfield and Cheltenham beckon The game against Kent at Blackpool kicks off a run of three Championship matches at outgrounds, followed by Derbyshire at Chesterfield and Gloucestershire at Cheltenham towards the end of next generally, that means 'result pitches'."Wickets will deteriorate and there will be a little bit there throughout the game. They are smaller grounds so it will be fast scoring when batters get in. It tends to be hard to start there so wicket can fall in clumps," said Croft."We didn't get it right in the four-day game and the players know that. But I still feel we have enough quality in this side and it is up to them to turn it round."Lancashire can take heart from Roses rivals Yorkshire, who last season failed to win any of their first seven games last season but produced five from the next seven to nick the second promotion spot. Analysis - 'Different ending still possible' by BBC Radio Lancashire commentator Scott ReadIt's still very possible that this season's story could have a different some supporters may remain uneasy at the perceived lack of a cricketing priority at the club, but at the same time, the money soon to be raised by The Hundred sale, might help to improve on the pitch the team can still turn their season is only four years ago that Lancashire were a day away from winning the County Championship title and finished runners-up in all three competitions the following is every chance the same players who are winless in seven Championship matches will find some form.

Police find 2 shot outside Millsboro-area home; a third man shot inside house dies
A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with a Millsboro-area shooting that left one teen dead and two others injured in the early hours of June 14. Marcus Harris has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder, Delaware State Police said. Harris was in a house located in the 24000 block of Rivers Edge Drive near Millsboro. Also in the house were a 19-year-old man and two other men. Harris and the teen were acquaintances of a woman who lives in the house. While in the house, police said, the teen got into an argument with the woman, who no longer wanted him or the other two men in the home. A fight began between Harris and the 19-year-old about 2 a.m., police said. It was during the fight that Harris shot the teen and the two other men. The woman was not injured during the shooting. Officers found two men outside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. The teen, who was inside the home, was provided first aid, but he died at the scene. The two other men were taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Harris was found inside the house and taken into custody without incident, police said. After being charged, Harris was committed to the Delaware Department of Correction after failing to post $480,000 cash bail. The Millsboro-area shooting was the second fatal one that morning in Kent County in which there were multiple victims. Five men were shot, one fatally, earlier that morning in Dover, police said. That shooting left a 22-year-old man dead.
