Foreign ambassadors visit Liwa Date Festival

A delegation of foreign ambassadors accredited to the UAE visited the 21st edition of the Liwa Date Festival, currently taking place in Liwa City, Al Dhafra Region, and running until 27th July, organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority. The delegation included Dana Goldfinca, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the UAE; Maria Belovas, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the UAE; Natalia Mansour, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the UAE; Luis Miguel Merlano Hoyos, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the UAE, and Lutfullah Goktas, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the UAE, accompanied by several diplomats. The ambassadors toured various pavilions of government and private departments participating in the festival, where they were introduced to a wide range of services, technologies, and lectures related to the agricultural sector. The delegation also visited the date market, the heritage souq, the handicrafts pavilion and the competition areas for dates and fruits. The ambassadors explored displays featuring traditional and agricultural products, date palm-based industries, and the latest agricultural technologies, particularly in palm cultivation. They expressed their delight in visiting the festival and gaining insight into the UAE's rich cultural heritage Recently, Martina Strong, Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Arab Emirates, praised the 21st Liwa Dates Festival. During her visit to the festival, Ambassador Strong expressed her deep admiration for the distinguished event, which offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore dates and the diverse products derived from the palm tree. These remarks were made during an official meeting, at the SCCI headquarters, between Al Owais and Maria Belovas, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the UAE, accompanied by her delegation. The meeting was attended by Raghda Hamad Omran Taryam, Board Member of SCCI, and Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at SCCI, along with several officials from both sides. During the meeting, Al Owais highlighted the promising opportunities for robust bilateral cooperation and sustainable partnership between Sharjah and Estonia in the agriculture and technology sectors. He pointed out the mutual interest shared by the investment environments in both countries to advance digital transformation, foster innovation through advanced technologies, and support strategic goals in food security via the adoption of smart and sustainable agricultural solutions. Al Owais praised the role of the UAE-Estonia Business Council in strengthening bilateral economic ties and facilitating a key platform for business networking and the promotion of trade and investment collaboration. He also extended an official invitation the Estonian Ambassador to attend the opening ceremony of the upcoming edition of the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, a flagship event organized and hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah on May 28. For her part, Maria Belovas formally invited the Sharjah Chamber to organize an official trade mission to Estonia. The initiative aims to provide Sharjah business community's representatives with an opportunity to explore Estonia's investment landscape and business environment, and to identify potential opportunities in key sectors such as digital technology, cybersecurity, startups, and others.

It aimed to explore the support provided by the Chamber to investors, businessmen, and trade delegations, as well as to discuss various areas of cooperation in trade and investment between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Republic of Estonia. Al Nuaimi answered the questions and inquiries of H. E the Ambassador on the mechanism of supporting trade and investment between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Republic Estonia, as well as the privileges and investment opportunities in Ras Al Khaimah. The meeting discussed in detail the factors that attract and encourage the companies and investors to choose Ras Al Khaimah for their business including the facilities offered and the tax exemptions along with other several factors that encourage investment in various sectors in the Emirate. Her Excellency Ambassador of Estonia expressed her wish to signing a collaboration agreement in the near future between Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Estonia Chamber of Commerce to highlight ways of enhancing collaboration and building long term partnerships in the various economic sectors between the two sides, and creating new pathways in the upcoming phase to expand and enhance the frameworks of cooperation between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Republic of Estonia. She invited the Chairman and the members of the Chamber to participate in the 'Estonia Business Forum' which will be held in May, 2025.
