The 10 Best Horror Movies On Netflix By Rotten Tomatoes Score (July 2025)

Barbarian It is genuinely hard to make lists like this on Netflix, given that so many movies come and go, given licensing timelines with the service. For this Best Horror Movies list, I figured I would list one of my favorites, but guess what? It's gone, as are a number of others I've seen in the past. So, we work with what we have, and thankfully, we still have a number of great horror movies on the service, though I would argue less than we used to. Here they are, and there are at least a few Netflix originals on here that aren't going to leave. His House 1) His House – 100% - I remember watching this when it was released in 2020, and it made a huge impression, as it did with the 125 critics that make up its perfect 100% score. It's a fantastic film about how the past can haunt you, based around a Sudanese couple who escaped the horrors of that land. But something followed them. Creep 2 2) Creep 2 – 100% - Creep 2 might be cheating a little with far fewer reviews in, but it's one of the most unique entries on this list with an unsettling performance from Mark Duplass, who has created one of the most unexpected horror villains of our time between these movies and The Creep Tapes, a TV show. Under the Shadow 3) Under the Shadow – 99% - I believe this is the only film on the list I haven't seen, so I'm certainly going to check it out now. A woman believes that her house is cursed after it's hit by a missile in the Iran-Iraq war, believing an evil spirit arrived with it to possess her daughter. What a concept. Train to Busan 4) Train to Busan – 95% - Simply put, this is the best zombie movie of all time, and I would argue nothing else is even close. Harrowing, gory and memorable, the claustrophobic film will stay with you. Or I suppose it has stayed with me because I've watched it about five times. Talk To Me 5) Talk to Me – 94% - One of the newest entries on this list, the teenage possession horror film is wholly unique in the genre and features some of the most memorable horror scenes and performances in the last decade. Those behind the film also just released Bring Her Back, which is still in theaters. Cam 6) Cam – 93% - This is probably the most obscure English-language film and fair warning, this is one with a significantly lower audience score. But I still thought the film was neat, as a camgirl finds that a mysterious double has taken over her identity on the site. Us 7) Us – 93% - Jordan Peele's horror stunner is on Netflix right now, even if his higher profile Get Out is not. Another film dealing with creepy doubles, it draws out an award-worthy performance from Lupita Nyong'o. I don't think it's Peele's best film, lower than Get Out and Nope, but it's fantastic in its own right. Barbarian 8) Barbarian – 92% - Another recent, very horrifying film, this one from director Zach Cregger, who also has a new, bizarre looking horror film out this year, Weapons. Barbarian is a film that it's best to know little about going in, as it has the most jarring moment I've ever seen in a movie like this. 1922 9) 1922 – 92% - A murder drama that most may have missed, it stars Thomas Jane as a man who recruits his teenage son to help murder his mother for money. It's based on a Stephen King novella, so that's a great start right there. Gerald's Game 10) Gerald's Game – 91% - At this point, Mike Flanagan is more famous for his 'Haunting of' Netflix shows, Midnight Mass and Hush than he is this film, but it's a locked-in-place thriller starring the excellent Carla Gugino, who is handcuffed to her bed after her husband dies of a heart attack, and must escape. Another Stephen King adaptation, in fact. I know a few have probably slipped through the cracks here, as it is hard to keep track of shifting Netflix films month to month, but I did my best. Enjoy them. For now. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.

'The Morning Show' Star Mark Duplass Thought He 'Might Never Be Normal Again' During Height of His Depression

Mark Duplass has struggled with depression and anxiety since he was a teenager The Morning Show star said that in addition to therapy and medication, making a number of lifestyle changes helped get his mental health on track He is now becoming a mental health advocate, telling others that they're not alone and reassuring them that they will get to the other sideWhen Mark Duplass opened up about his mental health on social media in 2023, he didn't expect it to drive such an important conversation. "I have been struggling with anxiety and depression for most of my life," he wrote in the post. "Sometimes it's just a subtle feeling that something deep inside is wrong. Sometimes it's a little stronger, and it affects my ability to function properly. And sometimes it comes barging through my front door and pins me to the ground for an unknown and seemingly insurmountable amount of time." On Wednesday, June 18, the actor spoke to ABC News' Whit Johnson on Good Morning America about his longtime struggle with depression and anxiety and becoming a mental health advocate. "It's funny, I didn't really see it as something super personal," he recalled of the Instagram post. "And I thought, you know, I'll just share this feeling I had. And it was really the response that people had, particularly a lot of men, that made me realize [that] men's mental health in particular might not [have] been as destigmatized as I thought it was." Duplass, 48, says his mental health struggles began when he was a teenager dealing with panic attacks. He tried to push through them alone, which led to a breaking point. "I had no skills with which to deal with it," he told GMA. "And I really did — I thought this might be it for me. I might never be normal again." The Morning Show star eventually started therapy and taking medication. But what really helped him get a grasp on his mental health was making lifestyle changes, in addition to his clinical treatment. "I learned that I got to get out of bed in the morning," he said. "I need to make sure I'm sleeping eight to nine hours a night. I need to make sure I'm getting really good exercise. I need to make sure I'm eating healthy, and for me, and this isn't the same for everyone, I needed to demystify the medication." Although Duplass was initially concerned that his mental health challenges would impact his career, it turned out to be beneficial to let others know what he was going through. "The last thing I would want is someone who's considering hiring me for a job to think, like, 'Oh man, what happens if he shows up and he's really depressed or anxious one day?' " he explained. 'There is no shame in this. I was so scared to tell people what I was dealing with, and once I did, it deepened all of my relationships and helped my professional career, and that's something I didn't anticipate." is now available in the Apple App Store! Duplass then shared a message to anyone struggling with their mental health: 'It's gonna be OK." "In season 2 [of The Morning Show], I was having some mental health issues, and I said, 'Look, I'm struggling with a little bit of this.' And they were so wonderful and so accommodating," he recalled. He reassured others facing mental health challenges: "You're probably feeling like, 'There's no way I'm ever going to be normal again. My life is ruined.' But that fog is a lie. It's not real. And you will rise above the fog, and it will lift." Included in his 2023 Instagram post was a photo of him in a tuxedo, smiling into the camera. "When I see pictures of myself like this one, I can see the fear and sadness behind the smile," he said at the time. "Even at my most 'happy' times. But at times like these, when the world is so deeply terrifying and saddening, it's a struggle just to stay on my feet and keep from crashing." Duplass ended his post by letting his followers know that they're not alone if they're going through something similar. Mark Duplass relies on a 'complicated system' to deal with depression

Mark Duplass relies on a "complicated system" to manage his depression. The Morning Show star, 48, has been open about his battle with depression and anxiety over the years and he's now revealed he uses a combination of sleep, exercise and medication to maintain his "delicate balance". He told New York Post column PageSix: "It's a really complicated system of making sure you get enough sleep, making sure you get exercise every day, making sure I'm being really careful about the medication I take, never to miss it ... [My medication is] a very fundamental critical part of my system ... "It's a delicate balance and ecosystem. I feel like I gotta make sure I keep showing up and working and it's exhausting sometimes, but what choice do I have?" Mark previously opened up about his struggle back in 2023, posting a picture of himself on a red carpet and explaining how he is able to see the "fear and sadness" behind his smile. He wrote: "I have been struggling with anxiety and depression for most of my life. Sometimes it's just a subtle feeling that something deep inside is wrong. "Sometimes it's a little stronger, and it affects my ability to function properly. "And sometimes it comes barging through my front door and pins me to the ground for an unknown and seemingly insurmountable amount of time. "When I see pictures of myself like this one, I can see the fear and sadness behind the smile. Even at my most 'happy' times. "But at times like these, when the world is so deeply terrifying and saddening, it's a struggle just to stay on my feet and keep from crashing. " He added: "And this is from the perspective of someone with years of experience dealing with this and excellent support systems ... daily exercise, 8 hours of sleep, the right medication, a great therapist, a family who loves and supports me, the ability to eat healthy foods, etc. " So I wanted to take a moment to send my love and support to all of you who may be dealing with something similar. I know we've heard all the platitudes before, but sometimes it's good to hear them again. "You are not alone. There is help. This will pass ... " In a post on the site earlier this week, Mark revealed he's been feeling better recently. He wrote: "I've been feeling stronger lately. A little lighter, more inspired, more energy. Better in social situations and with my work capacity. Overall, just 'happier'. "For those of you who deal with depression, it's like those moments when the mood fog lifts and you think : 'Oh, right, THIS is what it's like. I forgot'. "Because I do forget. It's amazing how the herculean daily struggle to keep yourself from descending (exercise, diet, medication, therapy, meditation, sleep, journaling, etc) can become so routine. "All just to keep yourself from drowning in the darkness. It can be exhausting and you don't even realize how hard you're working just to stay vertical." He added: "I hope you're all finding silver linings. Little slivers of hope and joy. The small things. That morning coffee. The pet snuggles. "A favorite song in your headphones at the grocery. A walk right before sunset. I hope you can feel the big, tidal wave of hope I'm sending your way."
