Heavy rains force class suspensions in Metro Manila, provinces
Classes were suspended and commuters were stranded in multiple areas due to the heavy rainfall Thursday in Metro Manila and some provinces. In its 5 a.m. weather advisory, state weather bureau PAGASA said a low pressure area and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will be affecting the weather in some parts of the country. The LPA will bring rainfall from 50 to 100 mm over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and Ilocos Norte. Meanwhile, the Habagat will bring the same volume of rain in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro. "Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA said. "The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property," it added. Classes for Thursday have been cancelled in several areas due to heavy rains: Aparri, Cagayan — all levels, public and private Bacnotan, La Union — pre-school - Grade 12 (public schools) Camalaniugan, Cagayan — all levels, public and private Cavite City — all levels, public and private Gonzaga, Cagayan — pre-school - Grade 12 Las Piñas — all levels, public and private Malabon — all levels, public and private Muntinlupa — Kindergarten and afternoon classes in all levels, public and private (starting 12 pm) Marikina — all levels, public and private Naic, Cavite — all levels, public and private Pasig City — online and in-person classes, from Kindergarten to Senior High School Santo Niño, Cagayan — all levels, public and private Tanza, Cavite — no face-to-face classes (all levels) Valenzuela City — online and in-person classes, from Kindergarten to Senior High School Several commuters faced difficulties getting rides amid the heavy rains in Metro Manila on Thursday morning. Many passengers were also stranded on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, Super Radyo dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. As of 6:46 a.m., a gutter-deep flood was reported in the westbound lane of Quirino Avenue (Guazon) and above-gutter flood in the eastbound lane of Andrew Avenue corner Tramo Street, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said. Commuters stranded amid heavy rains in Metro Manila
Several commuters faced difficulty getting a ride amid the heavy rains in Metro Manila on Thursday morning. Also, the same rainfall condition is expected in Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and Ilocos Norte. P10 worth of 'shabu' inside fishing vessel seized by PH Navy in Zambales
More than P10 billion worth of alleged shabu was seized in a fishing vessel in the waters of Zambales by the Philippine Navy. According to Mark Makalalad's report on Super Radyo dzBB, the fishing vessel was manned by foreign nationals.
