Notre Dame lands Ivy League rookie of the year Mark Quatrani via transfer portal
Notre Dame has landed a commitment from Cornell catcher transfer Mark hit .318 with 10 doubles, six home runs, and 24 RBI as a sophomore in 2025.
Losing Carson Tinney was a big blow for Notre Dame's baseball program. But head coach Shawn Stiffler and his staff found a very good solution for that hole at catcher in the transfer portal.
The Fighting Irish picked up a commitment from 2024 Ivy League rookie of the year Mark Quatrani from is a career .338 hitter who recorded a .318 average and .966 OPS with 10 doubles, six home runs and 24 RBI as a sophomore in 2025. As a freshman, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound Pennsylvania native hit .362 with a 1.207 OPS.
It's a big addition with the loss of Tinney behind the plate, and Quatrani will also likely get looks at DH along with Davis Johnson.
The Fighting Irish recently picked up Minnesota graduate transfer Drew Berkland to enhance their offense. The 6-foot, 190-pounder played outfield and also caught during his three-year career with the Golden Gophers. This past season, Berkland batted .293 with 10 doubles, 14 home runs, a team-high 53 RBI and a slugging percentage of .546.
