Bucks Make Major Mark Sears Announcement
Bucks Make Major Mark Sears Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In 112 seasons, the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program has had just three All-Americans. Of the trio, only one has made multiple All-America teams: guard Mark Sears. Advertisement Following the 2022 season, in which Alabama posted an uninspiring 19-14 record under third-year head coach Nate Oats, the Crimson Tide turned to the transfer portal for an immediate fix. Alabama came away with a 6-foot-1 guard from the Ohio Bobcats, with many questioning how the All-MAC honoree would transition to the SEC. Sears would go on to spend three seasons with the Tide, during which the SEC power won nine March Madness games. Sears made his first All-American team in 2023-24, making the second team after scoring a career high 21.5 points per game. Last season, Sears vaulted to All-American first-team while guiding Alabama to a second straight Elite 8 berth. The All-SEC guard went undrafted, but didn't last long on the open market, with the Milwaukee Bucks signing him following the conclusion of the final round. Advertisement On Thursday, the Eastern Conference club made it official, signing him on a Two-Way deal. Sears will look to carve out a role with a Milwaukee team featuring former NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Alongside Sears, the Bucks will have Kevin Porter Jr., Vasilije Micic, AJ Green, Jamaree Bouyea, and former UConn Huskies star Andre Jackson Jr. at the point guard position.
