Days of Our Lives Recap: Marlena Collapses in Court

Days of Our Lives Recap: Marlena Collapses in Court originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Marlena and John's Penthouse: Brady tells Marlena and Belle about the quick labor and adoption in Chicago. Marlena asks about Tate and tells them about him rescuing Holly and Arianna Grace followed by the quick adoption. Brady thinks Sophia was right but feels for Tate. Just then, Rachel emerges from the bedroom and she and Brady head over to the DiMera mansion. Belle and Marlena worry about Rachel testifying at Johnny's trial. EJ arrives for Marlena to hypnotize him. He thanks her for the assistance, but she says she isn't doing it for him. EJ agrees they have the same goal of helping Johnny. If it doesn't work, Belle and EJ will fight it out in court. Marlena returns to start hypnosis and catches EJ and Belle kissing. Marlena dismisses her daughter and the two get started. EJ remembers talking to someone and asks why that person gave him something, but he can't see their face. He gets agitated and Marlena brings him out of the hypnotic state. When he's awake, he says he can't remember who he saw and worries it's because it was Johnny. Marlena thinks his mind is still protecting him and says she's willing to continue their sessions. Brady Pub: Abe finishes a call with Theo before sitting down with Paulina. She's overwhelmed by being called to the stand at Johnny's trial. He notes she now believes in Johnny's innocence, which makes her even more nervous about possibly sending him to prison. She also worries about Chanel as a suspect in the same crime. They talk about the video on the memory card and Abe recalls Chanel saying she never said what was on the video (could it be an AI alteration?). Paulina wants to change the topic and asks about Theo. Abe says he's not doing well. Paulina asks what's wrong with Theo and Abe says he and Claire Bear broke up. Paulina thought they were in it for the long haul as did Abe (Could we please see Theo and Claire Bear soon?). Paulina assures her beloved his son will find love. Paulina asks Abe what Johnny's chances are. Abe says the evidence is circumstantial but it's still a crap shoot. The only thing they can be assured of is EJ fighting is hardest to exonerate his son. DiMera Mansion: Gwen arrives with her bags and is annoyed no one is there to help her. Just then, Brady and Rachel walk in. Rachel wonders what Gwen is doing there and she says she is moving in. Rachel heads upstairs leaving Gwen to ask why Rachel is staying with Brady. He explains she's staying with him during the course of the trial. Rachel returns and Gwen exits to the Salem Inn. For some reason, Rachel is dying to get out of the house as soon as possible. Brady asks Rachel what is wrong, and she says she is looking at where Johnny was standing with the gun. He thinks she is very brave for telling her story to Aunt Belle. She worries about having to take the stand as she doesn't want to send Johnny to prison. Chanel and Johnny's Place: Chanel helps Johnny get ready for his day in court. She asks how he is feeling, and he tears up saying he's scared. They review the evidence that will be used against him, but Chanel says all of Salem wanted to plug his father. Johnny worries he's going to be convicted despite there not being proof. Chanel thinks Johnny will be acquitted but knows Belle will come after her next because of the video from the memory card. Horton Square: Belle takes a call from Claire Bear who is upset about breaking up with Theo. She runs into Paulina and Abe and they discuss a bit about the kids' breakup. Courtroom: Belle sits at her table. She calls EJ not sure where he is and wonders if something happened during hypnosis. Days of Our Lives Recap: Gabi and Toni Make a Deal About The Control of DiMera Enterprises Endings EJ arrives in court and updates Belle on the hypnosis. While he was under, he remembered asking someone to hand him the gun. Marlena thinks it's possible his mind is still protecting him from something traumatic. Outside the courtroom, Marlena hugs Johnny and promises to provide her love and support. EJ pops his head out and says it's time for Johnny to enter. The judge arrives and calls the court to order and brings the jury in. Marlena and Abe walk in. As they try to take a seat, Marlena passes out into Abe's arms. Brady and Rachel arrive back at Grandma Marlena's and she is depressed to learn her grandmother isn't around. Rachel is thrilled to learn she and her dad are headed to a movie and runs to her room to put her stuff away. Just then, Belle calls and says their mother collapsed in court. Gwen packs up all her things and remembers putting the necklace in the safe. When she opens it up, the necklace is gone. Belle crouches next to her mother and begs her to wake up. She admonishes Marlena not to miss anymore meals. With that, Belle and Marlena exit. Rachel and Brady return and Sarah says Marlena and Belle just left. Rachel pulls out the gift they bought for Tate's baby and Brady explains about the quick birth and adoption. Brady says it's a shame because Tate didn't get to meet her. Sarah is surprised to hear the baby is a girl as she remembers the ultrasound where she and Sophia found out it was a boy. Rachel asks about a name and Brady says he doesn't know. She says she likes the name Mackenzie and asks if Sarah likes it too (yikes). Brady sends Rachel to the vending machine so Sarah can cry. Gwen calls the police to report the necklace being stolen when Gabi and Little T walk up. She asks about the baby and Gabi tells her a condensed version of the story. Gwen bends down and tells Little T to run as fast as he can from this horrid family. The two immediately start throwing insults about their inability to keep men. Gabi wonders if she offed Dimitri for revenge. Just then, Susan walks up and asks Gabi just how far she would go for revenge. Gwen is tickled when Susan directly asks if Gabi shot her son. She remembers the last time they met up how she sensed Gabi was at the mansion the night of the shooting. Since then, Susan heard Gabi actually admitted to what she saw in a vision. Gwen thinks Susan has her number. Gabi admits to lying but says she is innocent. Susan vows to find out who put a bullet in her son and storms off. Gwen giggles as it's ironic Gabi accused her of murder. Horton House: A flustered Julie arrives home when young Douglas arrives to tell her that he is leaving Salem. Julie is stand offish until Doug says he has a gift for her and hands her the necklace. Julie asks where he got it and Doug admits he took it from Gwen's room because it doesn't belong to her. Julie explains about her latest encounter with Gwen and now understands she was telling the truth. Doug asks if Julie is going to turn him in but she thinks it isn't necessary. Julie begins to crack when young Douglas says how sorry he is for everything. He says how much kindness and love she showed him which he hadn't felt in a very long time. Doug hates he broke Julie's heart and trust and then tries to leave. Julie holds him up and asks if she will help her put on her grandmother's necklace. Doug takes the necklace and clasps it around Julie's neck. He says it looks lovely on her and Julie says it makes her feel closer to her mother and grandmother. Doug says he gets it as one of his most prized possessions is a pair of cufflinks from his grandpa Robert. Just then, Julie tells Doug to stay put and runs in the other room. Julie finds Doug's pocket watch and kisses it. When she returns, she hands it to young Douglas and says it belonged to his other grandfather. Doug thanks Julie for her kindness. She asks him to tell her the amount of money he owes the loan sharks and she will wire him the money. Julie doesn't want him to be in continued danger. Doug is so very grateful and Julie says she knows it's what Doug would have wanted. Marlena and John's Penthouse: Belle asks Marlena about EJ's hypnosis session. She hesitates because of doctor/patient confidentiality but Belle says he already told her about it. She wonders if trauma is actually what's keeping him from remembering the shooting. Marlena isn't certain. Belle apologizes as she doesn't want to stress her mother out. She asks about the grief they are both experiencing about John and wonders if they talk about it enough with everything going on. Belle wants her mother to know she never forgets it but doesn't bring it up as she wants to respect her as a psychiatrist. Marlena says not talking about the situation is right for her in this moment. Susan arrives and tells Belle she there for Johnny but also to offer her condolences about John. Marlena walks back in and Susan tells her how amazing John Black was. She goes on and on about their history together and Marlena says he was very fond of her. She embraces Dr Marlena Evans as Belle controls her giggles. Susan pulls back and says she got a very weird vibe from her. Marlena inquires and Susan tries to explain but Belle quickly gets her out. Gwen wonders why Gabi shot EJ but she says she didn't. Gabi admits she hated EJ and tells her many reasons why. Gabi asks if Gwen ran into Stefan in Alamania but she did not. She says Tony and Anna tried to reach out with no response (Both Dimitri and Stefan MIA…). Gwen and Gabi tell each other to go to hell before parting ways. Johnny and Chanel get a little frisky when they realize they've got a little time on their hands. Sarah admits she should have separated from Xander when he tried to hurt Brady. She promises to stop talking about Xander, but he says she can vent to him whenever she wants. Sarah says she has so much time on her hands as Victoria is with Xander. She then agrees to go to dinner with him and Rachel. After they exit, Sarah pulls up Sophia's ultrasound and confirms the baby was a boy. Belle returns from walking Susan out and finds her mother asleep on the sofa. She covers her with a blanket and exits the room. The camera focuses on Marlena and shoots to the book '1001 Arabian Nights.' In her dreams, we find Marlena in her nightgown entering what seems to be a restaurant. She asks aloud what this place is and then two scantily clad women wrap luxurious fabric around her. After 10 Years, a Beloved Bernal Heights Chef Will Open a Second Restaurant

is the associate editor for the Northern California and Pacific Northwest region writing about restaurant and bar trends, coffee and cafes, and pop-ups. One of the city's most time-tested fine dining chefs is about to open his second restaurant. Precita Social debuts, fittingly, on the corner of Precita Park this August. Chef Greg Lutes, owner and operator at Bernal Heights's 3rd Cousin, will helm the new restaurant. The hope here is to open a more casual, yet still refined, dining experience to the neighborhood he's called home for a decade. The restaurant's in the final heat of a Kickstarter as the last touches get put on the place. Significantly, this restaurant takes over the former Marlena space, briefly Foliage from chef Mo Bejar. Lutes says he's aware of the controversy that surrounded the breakup of landlord and restaurant owner Stephan Roulland and chefs David Fisher and Serena Chow Fisher. He says it was a complicated scenario, and he's headed into this venture clear-eyed. '3rd Cousin is 10 years old now,' Lutes says. 'I'd thought about doing a second restaurant for many years. Unlike Marlena, the restaurant here is not tasting menu-driven. The food options will be much more playful while retaining that fine dining backbone. Uni hand rolls dished as tacos, big burgers he served at 3rd Cousin throughout the worst of the pandemic, and the dish of the year, disco fries, will all make appearances. Precita Social will play host to a huge raw bar, too, one black marble counter starring oysters and clams. Larger mains run more traditional: Think steaks, seafood, and powerful vegetables. For dessert, guests can anticipate a Dubai chocolate-inspired soft-serve sundae complete with pistachio, seasonal fruit, and kataifi. A seasonal panna cotta at Third Cousin. Paolo Bicchieri Oceano Ordóñez, the beverage director from 3rd Cousin, will also handle drinks at Precita Social. He's curated an Old World-centered wine list along with beers from local breweries, including neighbor Barebottle Brewing Company; mocktails and shrubs are on deck, too. Herbs and greens come from the restaurant's personal rooftop garden, powered in part by solar panels. The ambiance remains neighborhood-y, with Sky Creative Lab taking on the redesign of the Marlena space. There'll be an additional outdoor parklet added to the mix. Beyond a refinished floor and design elements, Lutes says it's been a bit turnkey. Foliage closed in August 2024. Lutes reached out to Roulland in April 2025. He had eyed a Presidio location, but this proximity is a million times easier. Looking ahead, Lutes says that he hopes Precita Social fills the neighborhood's many dining needs. While 3rd Cousin is upscale, a special occasions spot, he sees this new restaurant as a chance to stretch his wings a bit. People have requested that pandemic burger plenty of times, for instance, but it doesn't gel with the approach at 3rd Cousin. 'This is a blank palette for me to do things I can't do at 3rd Cousin,' Lutes says. 'People know me in Bernal Heights. I see this as my ode to comfort food.' Precita Social (300 Precita Avenue) will open in August 2025 with dinner service Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations will go live on Resy on Friday, July 18. Marlena admits she is feeling some type of way. She admits life without John is freaking her out. Marlena was used to sleeping alone as he was gone for the better part of a year but now it hits different because he is now never coming home. Gwen apologizes for going along with Kristen when she took Sarah off to the island which is what allowed her and Xander to get together. She knew she couldn't compete with Sarah and says she has a toxic relationship with the truth. Gwen now wonders what would have happened if she had simply told the truth. They talk a bit more and agree to have another drink before going home. Kiriakis Mansion: Sarah sits and thinks back to better times with Xander. She scrolls through pictures when Bonnie walks in and makes herself a drink. She asks Sarah what she was looking at on her phone and jumps the gun saying looking at pics of times gone by with her beloved isn't going to help. Sarah admits she ran into Xander and they couldn't even find a way to be civil. Bonnie says the dark feelings will go away with time. For now, she wishes good riddance to bad trash. Sarah is somewhat surprised by Bonnie's sentiments. She says she was in Xander's corner before she found out about what he did to Philip. She talks a bit about how she tried so hard with her first husband before he beat her senseless. She says Mimi took it as long as she could and one day she killed him. Bonnie begins to cry as she discusses the impact of her relationship on her daughter. She isn't comparing Mimi to Victoria but says she doesn't want to raise her kid around someone with the propensity for violence. Sarah says how sorry she feels for Bonnie but thinks her situation with Xander is very different. Bonnie isn't trying to tell Sarah how to deal with her life but thinks she and Victoria are better off with him gone. Sarah says she and Xander had a decent evening before he just blew up at her (is that what happened?). Bonnie thinks she needs to fight fire with fire. Horton Square: Leo recognizes Julie's necklace. Javi wonders what she's talking about and Gwen declares her hatred for her former bestie. Leo says how much he regrets what he did to her and thinks he has paid dearly. He says Dimitri left him for a person he met in prison and sent him a horribly written 'Dear John' letter. Gwen says she still isn't divorced from Dimitri and now has full control over his fortune (Where is Dimitri?). Leo says he's not jealous. He pulls Javi in and says some things are more important than money. Gwen goes off and then calms herself. She turns to Javi and says he has no idea what he's gotten himself into. With that, she exits… and leaves Javi with many questions. Leo tells Javi everything about his affair with Dimitri behind Gwen's back. Javi can't believe his beloved could be disloyal to a friend. Leo swears he is devastated by how he treated his former BFF as he simply loved everything about her. He knows he deserves karmic retribution and maybe that means losing his current beloved. Javi says everyone has secrets and regrets and then whispers something in Leo's ear. Javi pulls Leo to him and says there are some things he would never change. Javi and Leo go back and forth about watching baby boy Choi. Leo thinks he's a decent babysitter but shouldn't be trusted as the daddy for a whole family. Javi thinks Leo is proving himself just fine and is short-changing his long term goals. Endings Xander and Gwen drunkenly stumble and giggle through Horton Square. She says he is the one who got away. He, quite fondly, remembers her saying he was the one who got away. He asks if she wants them to get back together and they kiss. Belle tells Marlena she thinks she should sleep on the couch. Her mother agrees and Belle asks if she can sit there with her until she falls asleep. Marlena realizes their roles have changed by says she's happy for her to sit there with her. Javi tells Leo how much he thinks any child would be lucky to have him as a daddy.
