Rashid Al Dhaheri clinches second at Formula Regional Championship
Emirati racing driver Rashid Al Dhaheri delivered an outstanding performance at Circuit Paul Ricard near Marseille, South France, claiming second place in Race 2 of the Formula Regional Championship and raising the UAE flag on the international stage. Opened in 1970, the Paul Ricard Circuit has hosted numerous prestigious motorsport events, including Formula One Grands Prix. Known for its distinctive blue and red runoff zones and long Mistral Straight, the 5.842 km track challenges drivers with a mix of high-speed sections and technical corners. Twenty-six up-and-coming race drivers from 18 countries participated in the race weekend. Al Dhaheri was competitive from the outset during Friday's free practice sessions. In FP1, he completed two runs, one on old tires and one on fresh tires. In FP2, he focused on race and qualifying simulations. Unfortunately, Qualifying 1 on Saturday proved challenging as a slow puncture on the rear-left tire compromised his session, forcing him to withdraw from Race 1. Despite this setback, Al Dhaheri rebounded strongly on Sunday. In Qualifying 2, he secured pole position in his group, missing the overall pole by a mere 0.055 seconds. Starting from P2 in Race 2, Al Dhaheri maintained his composure, demonstrating excellent tire management and racecraft to finish in second place. He also set the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:58.862. His podium finish and fastest lap marked the first time the UAE flag has been raised at Paul Ricard in this championship, highlighting another milestone moment in his young career. The next round of the Formula Regional Championship will take place in two weeks at the iconic Imola Circuit near Florence, Italy, a track steeped in motorsport history.

Azzedine Ounahi Set for Girona Move
Azzedine Ounahi is on the verge of joining Girona in a permanent move from Olympique de Marseille. The Moroccan international has agreed terms with the Spanish side, with only Marseille's final approval pending. The 25-year-old caught Girona's attention after an impressive loan spell at Panathinaikos, where he scored five goals and registered seven assists in 37 appearances. He was voted the Greek club's Player of the Season and earned a spot in the league's Team of the Year. Girona, preparing for Champions League football, submitted an €8 million offer – matching Marseille's initial valuation after the French club briefly raised their asking price to €12 million. Ounahi, who rose to prominence during Morocco's run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, had joined Marseille in January 2023 from Angers. However, his time in Ligue 1 was disrupted by injuries and inconsistency. Marseille have already left him out of their pre-season squad, along with three other African players: Cameroon duo Faris Moumbagna and Simon Ngapandouetnbu, and Ivorian player Bamo Meïté. Ounahi, who rose through the ranks of Morocco's Mohammed VI Academy, is now set to relaunch his career in La Liga. Tags: Azzedine OunahiFC BarcelonaGirona

He has plied his trade in Italy for two years, joining the Bianconeri from Lille in 2023 for just less than £10million. His career transfer value is set to sky-rocket now though as Juventus look set to pocket £13million plus add ons from Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille. The deal will likely be a loan deal with an option to buy, which could become an obligation if certain conditions are met, according to Football Italia. The French side finished runner's up to Weah's former side PSG last season, and will be in the Champions League in the upcoming campaign. Weah won the League and Cup double during his short spell in Glasgow, introducing his mum, the First Lady of Liberia, to Celtic Park for a clash against Kilmarnock. He featured 17 time in green and white, netting four goals and setting up another. He played with Celtic during Neil Lennon's second spell at the club. Lennon cut the American international's deal short though, despite Weah becoming a fan favourite at Parkhead. The winger was called up to The USA under 20's squad for the U20 World Cup , which would've seen him miss the Scottish Cup final. Weah joined Lille on a permanent move after returning to his parent club, where he went on to make over 100 appearances, racking up 16 goal contributions. His appearances for Lille caught the eye of Juventus, whom he has played 78 times for. He has scored seven goals and set up the same amount of goals for the Italian giants. 4 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Olympique Marseille close to sealing loan move for Timothy Weah
Olympique Marseille are on the brink of finalising a deal to bring Juventus winger Timothy Weah to the club on a loan deal, according to RMC Sport. Marseille have moved quickly in pursuit of the versatile US international, who previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and Lille, and is enthusiastic about a return to France, prioritising Marseille over other suitors, including Nottingham Forest. Negotiations between Marseille and Juventus are for an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy. The two clubs are ironing out the final details concerning the transfer fee, with Juventus valuing Weah, who is under contract until 2028, at €15 million to €20 million. Juventus initially preferred a direct sale, but have accepted the loan-plus-obligation formula, with the final fee likely to be in the region of €15 million plus add-ons. Personal terms have long been agreed with Weah, who has committed to a five-year contract, reportedly on a salary of around €2.5 million per season Weah is keen to reignite his career after two unspectacular seasons in Turin despite making over 70 appearances. The opportunity to follow in his father George Weah's footsteps and play for Marseille also adds sentimental value to the move. Capable of filling in as either a winger or wing-back, Weah's versatility makes him a decent addition for OM as they prepare for a return to the Champions League. Roberto De Zerbi's side have already signed Conrad Jaden Egan-Riley, Angel Gomes, Jonathan Rowe, Neal Maupay, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Facundo Medina this summer. They are also close to bringing back Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Orange Velodrome after a brief spell in Saudi Arabia for the Gabonese international.
