75-year-old hiker survives 500m fall at Gunung Mulu National Park

PETALING JAYA : A 75-year-old hiker survived a 500m fall at the Gunung Mulu National Park in Miri earlier today.
The woman sustained serious head injuries after the fall near Camp 5, a well-known resting point for trekkers en route to the park's iconic pinnacles, reported The Borneo Post.
The Marudi fire and rescue station received an emergency call at around 12.45pm and immediately deployed a unit to the scene, which arrived within minutes and provided initial treatment to stop the bleeding on the victim's head.
A helicopter was dispatched to transport the victim to Miri Hospital.
