Drunk driving incident leaves 3 injured in Panigate
Vadodara: Three pedestrians suffered minor injuries after a drunk driver lost control of his car and rammed into a pole near Harish Petrol Pump in the Panigate area on Friday night. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The accused, Prem Vasava, a resident of Kishanwadi, was driving a white Maruti Dzire when he lost control of the vehicle and hit three people, including a woman. Sources said the injuries were minor, either caused by the impact or as the victims tried to dodge the vehicle. A bystander alerted the police control room, and a team from Panigate police station reached the spot. Meanwhile, locals recorded a video in which Vasava admitted to being drunk. He reportedly reeked of alcohol. His companion, Vijay Rathod, was also found in an intoxicated state. Both men were taken into custody. Vasava has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, while Rathod has been booked separately for alcohol consumption.

Lakshya Rana May 21, 2025 The Hyundai Creta led the sales chart in April 2025, recording 17,016 units. Closely behind was the Maruti Dzire, with 16,996 units sold during the month. The Maruti Brezza secured the third position, selling 16,971 units. Maruti Ertiga was the fourth best-seller, registering sales of 15,780 units. Mahindra Scorpio (N and Classic combined) was at the fifth position with combined sales of 15,534 units. Tata Nexon secured sixth position with 15,457 units sold in April. Maruti Suzuki Dzire Ditches AMT For CVT, But There's A Catch
Maruti Suzuki has updated its popular Dzire sedan, but the changes are currently only available in South Africa, not in India. The South African version now features a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), replacing the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) found in the Indian model. This article explores the powertrain differences, similarities, and price variations of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire in both countries. The Dzire in South Africa is priced at R224,900 (around Rs 10.66 lakh). Though it looks similar to the Indian version, its key distinction is the CVT, which offers a more refined driving experience. This model is equipped with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine, which comes with either a 5-speed manual or the new CVT option. While the AMT is cost-effective, it is often criticized for its rough gear shifts in stop-and-go traffic. The CVT, in contrast, allows for smoother acceleration and improved driving comfort. The South Africa version of the Maruti Dzire comes with a CVT transmission, projector halogen headlights instead of LED ones, and black 15-inch alloy wheels instead of dual-tone options. Inside, it features a dashboard with silver accents and a smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Feature-wise, the South African Dzire lacks some features found in the Indian version, like a 360-degree camera, push-button start, wireless phone charger, single-pane sunroof, and a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel. However, both models include important safety features, such as six airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. In India, the Maruti Dzire has nine variants priced between Rs 6.84 lakh and Rs 10.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with cars like the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor. In March 2025, Maruti launched the Dzire Tour S (LXi) for fleet buyers, available in both petrol and CNG options. The petrol version starts at Rs 6.79 lakh, while the CNG variant costs Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom).
