Like, at some point, I think we've seen Kyler Murray. I just don't think there's another level here. Do you? Like, I kind of wonder about that. Every offseason, I've come in here for three straight years. It's been like a referendum year for Kyler Murray. It's like, OK, this is the year where, but I believe we're there now because this regime has said, OK, we're going to improve the town around him. Give him the best possible offensive teammates as a unit to play with. Marvin Harrison Jr., you know, I think he's up to like 220, he's gained weight. He looks thicker, looks stronger. I think they're confident in him taking another step as their number one wideout. Trey McBride has the ability to be one of the, you know, elite tight ends. He showed it last season. He can be there with Kelsey, Kittle, Bowers, like he's in that group. They're gonna run the ball a heck of a lot with James Conner and Trey Benson, but they've augmented the offense a little bit for Kyler too. Like, OK, if the offensive line isn't perfect, we're gonna move the pocket more. We're gonna try and roll out, you know, Kyler at times. We're gonna give him an opportunity to make plays, not necessarily inside the box. The running component of Kyler's game is gonna be accentuated. So, is it a referendum season for Kyler? Yeah, I think it is because they're like, Look, we're improving the pieces around you. Jonathan Gannon said to me, he made a golf analogy. He's like, look, we're giving him the whole bag of clubs. We just need him to choose the right club for the right situation. When he's making throws and decisions, that's ultimately gonna determine whether or not this is a make or break season, right? I mean, cynically, I already think we've had the referendum season on Kyler Murray. I think this is who he is. If he shows another level, I'll re-evaluate, but I get that we kind of hear this every year at this time. Like, oh, this is what we're doing for Kyler. This is why he's gonna have a breakout. By your seventh season, you kind of are who you are. That's my opinion. We'll see. Go back and look at the Rams game last season. I think it was, you know, early on in the season, and then the 49ers game to wrap the season I'll be against the 49ers team that didn't have a lot to play for, nothing to play for really at that point. Nothing to play for really at that point. His highs, his ceiling is so crazy and so much fulfilling of why he became the number one pick in the draft. The problem is his lows are still way too low, and when you talk to people in the organization, what they tell you is our biggest thing is that can we raise the floor on him? Can we raise the floor on him? Can we raise those lows to adequate? Close

Why Trey McBride believes Marvin Harrison Jr. ‘can be a force' for Cardinals

The post Why Trey McBride believes Marvin Harrison Jr. 'can be a force' for Cardinals appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Arizona Cardinals were competitive in 2024, but they will be looking to take another step forward and become a playoff team next season with Kyler Murray at the helm. Murray is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, and he has two very good weapons to get the ball to in tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. A lot has been made about McBride's struggles finding the end zone during his three-year career, but he is clearly one of the best tight ends in football. Despite scoring just two touchdowns last season, McBride caught 111 balls on 147 targets for 1,146 yards and was a great security blanket for Murray all year. A second-year leap from Harrison would take some of the pressure off of both McBride and Murray, and the former Colorado State tight end thinks that Arizona fans are going to see that this fall. 'I don't want any part of that,' McBride said, smiling, via ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. 'No, he's a hard worker, man. There's no doubt about it. He puts the work in every single day. I've seen him every day in the offseason, working out together. He's a stud. He's young, he's growing into his body still, and man, I'm excited to see him take the next level. He's a guy who can be a force to reckon with, and I'm excited to see him grow with Kyler and to grow in this offense and to be a stud.' The discourse around Harrison's rookie season for the Cardinals was worse than it actually turned out to be statistically, but he will still be looking for improvement in year two. He caught 62 balls on 116 targets last season for 885 yards and eight touchdowns, putting up that level of production despite some synergy issues with Murray. Now, Harrison and his quarterback have had another offseason to work together and build some more chemistry on the field together. The former Ohio State star still has all of the talent and polish that he showed in college, and he will have plenty of chances to show that off in 2025. If McBride's assessment of his offseason is any indication, defenses should watch out for Harrison in his second season.
