Emergency Services Rescue Person from Water at Maryport Harbour
A multi-agency emergency response was launched on the evening of Sunday, July 6, after reports of a person in the water at Maryport Harbour.
The call came in at 5:38pm and was coordinated by Belfast Coastguard.
Due to low tidal conditions, the responding team deployed their Emergency Rescue Boat (ERB), which quickly crossed the harbour to reach the area of concern.
Working alongside Cumbria Police, responders located a casualty in the water. The individual was brought to safety and received initial medical care on site.
The person was then transferred to the care of North West Ambulance Service, with additional support from Maryport and Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Teams.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service also arrived to provide further medical assessment.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service were also in attendance during the operation.
A spokesperson for the Maryport Rescue Team praised the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, stating: 'This was a well-executed operation that demonstrated the effectiveness of emergency services working together under challenging conditions.'
No further details about the casualty's condition have been released.
