Miri MP allocates RM90,000 to support upgrades for three houses of worship

MIRI (July 20): Miri MP Chiew Choon Man presented an allocation amounting to RM90,000 to three houses of worship here recently.
The recipients are Masjid Ar' Rayyan in Permyjaya; Methodist Church Tudan; and Masjid Darul Istiqimah in Luak.
Chiew said the funds were meant to assist with development and upgrading projects crucial for the well-being of the local communities.
'The contribution to Masjid Ar' Rayyan intends to support its development and repair works to ensure a more comfortable and conducive environment for congregants and local residents.
'For Methodist Church Tudan, the funds will be used to upgrade its learning centre and to purchase a new PA system to facilitate educational and religious activities more effectively.
'As for Masjid Darul Istiqimah, the funds are for its ongoing upgrading and development efforts to better serve its function as a community hub,' he said in a statement.
Chiew said houses of worship were more than just venues for religious purposes, and described them as important platforms for community building, spiritual and moral education, and fostering harmony among people of different backgrounds.
'Improving the facilities at these places is a form of social investment that brings long-term benefits to the people, regardless of race or religion,' he said, adding his office remains open to receiving suggestions and feedback on the needs of various communities in Miri.
'I am committed to continuing financial support for other places of worship in need. It is through such collaborative efforts between community leaders, government agencies, and civil society that we can build a more harmonious, united, and prosperous Miri,' he said.
